On the subject of going back to roots, on the Alien Anthology's extra materials for Aliens they talked about one of the alternate ideas to introduce Bishop as an android. The idea was that instead of the knife scene, he'd be walking around the ship while everyone else was in cryo, just endlessly pacing while the ship was introduced.

This shot has me wondering if it's David, on the ship while everyone else is in cryo:

Very cool! I loved the image of Bishop pacing the ship ever since I watched those extras.

That's grom Giger's Alien book, a great title that chronicles his involvement and work on the first film from unused artwork and concepts to set photos of the Derelict model and Spacey Jockey. Lots of possible hints to Promtheus too perhaps?

Yea I saw a lot of stuff that seems to resembles the designs in Prometheus. There are interesting designs of the facehugger with long tentacles-like features and such, that seems to have lots of octopus like features, and there's the bald dudes with the organic patterns on their bodies/clothes. Seems pretty cool!

This timeline is fantastic. I had no idea that the humans in this film possessed such advanced technology. It really seems like they had Prometheus (and the concept of snatching power from the gods) when charting that out.

You've got to give them props for the call backs to specific bits of technology from the Alien series.

Even more than that though, I love that they used current NASA missions as starting point for the listed innovations in space travel. I almost did a spit take when I saw JIMO pop up. For those who don't know, it is a now (almost) legendary canceled NASA mission that would have used a new type of propulsion, Nuclear Electric Ion Drive, to reach and search for life on Jupiter's moons. That name the project related to that propulsion research- Project Prometheus.

The JIMO craft also served as a general visual reference for the space craft in Avatar.

Nice.
Those look like some elongated Xeno hands. I believe we see hands very like those in the Prometheus trailer when the crew look up in the chambers where the giant head statue is and say something's moving up there.

Fass said in a recent interview -mild spoiler-
that he is kind of a butler, taking care of the crew and the ship during long distance travels. He checks on the ship's systems and helps humans to recover after they wake up.

Aw fuck. Why did I click that. Then read it. Fuck. Amazing speculation at surprise ending though.

I really hadn't thought of the one detail of the xenomorph eggs being in the ship. Theron --> Alien queen would explain this.

That said, I do not accept that the ship crash/topple will be the finale of the movie. That has been shown in every trailer/teaser. It would be simply evil for them to have revealed that so early if that is the case.

Deep down I am hoping that there is an entire third act that has not been shown in any of the media released so far. They couldn't have spoiled everything, right?

Nice new footage. That shot of David activating the hologram star map...
you can see the Space Jockey on his left. Is it part of the hologram or is it really there? Either way you actually get a good size reference between the Jockey and a person.

EDIT: Looking at the HD version it looks like it's a hologram playback showing more than one....

I thought it was 2 weeks according to some GAF rule. I will do the Skyfall OT that will consist of the crew/cast and release date. Just 3 lines and a pic of
Tom Hanks killing Bond in a bathtub
. I think I might create the Prometheus OT in paint.

It's one week for Game OTs. Dunno about the OTs on the, er, OT side. ;p
 
Also I want to note my wild speculation now. gleaned only from trailers, so I can refer back to it later
Noomi becomes pregnant with an alien baby hybrid from Raef after they investigate the temple but before all hell breaks loose (he sees the worm in his eye afterwords, prolly doesn't say anything lol) then a lot of people die. noomie puts it together and uses the medpod to extract the alien fetus (see umbilical chord) from herself (her clasping her hands in prayer is just before she does the surgery). She stumbles down the halls with a scar and staples on her stomach after that.

I read that picture spoiler thing. It clearly misses my plot point spoilered above :p

People over at avpgalaxy claim that

1. The environment is not the same as in Alien.
2. The atmosphere is not as hostile as it is in Alien either.
3. Ridley and Lindeholf has said that Prometheus isn't at LV-426
4. Space Jockeys are a lot smaller in Prometheus than in Alien

You're right about 1 week for game OTs. I guess no official time has been given for other OTs. I'm serious about paint though, I have no skill whatsoever to make a fancy OT like the gaming side and would make it in paint.
