Protest planned at Pornhub HQ on International Womens Day

Not my porn.

EDIT for more context

In November 2019, a 28-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to distributing intimate images of his ex-lover, along with three other victims, without their consent on websites including Pornhub. One of the images was viewed more than 1.5 million times

Last month, a woman shared her story with the BBC, alleging videos of her being raped at 14 years old ended up on Pornhub. One had over 400,000 views. The woman told the BBC she emailed PornHub several times over a period of six months asking for their removal and telling them she was a minor before sending another email posing as a lawyer. Only then were the videos removed.

A petition to have Pornhub shut down has garnered more than 370,000 signatures.

According to the petition, the website "has no system in place to verify reliably the age or consent of those featured in the pornographic content it hosts and profits from."

Pornhub said the petition is "factually wrong and intentionally misleading" and was created and promoted by a "radical rightwing fundamentalist group in the United States" whose founders "have long vilified and attacked LGBTQ communities and women’s rights groups, aligned themselves with hate groups, and espoused extremist and despicable language.”

I came in here expecting a cheap laugh but did you read the article? One of the main complaints is from a girl who had a video posted without her consent of her being raped as an underage girl. I'm sure there's Puritans involved with this movement but revenge porn and possible child porn being posted on the website is not a good look for anyone. Pornhub should do a better job of moderating the site.

You know I bet a porn site could come up with a better solution than YouTube for this type of moderation.

I like the idea of accountability in pornography and in every aspect of life.

I ultimately think this protest will change nothing. Every video uploaded to porn sites would have to be vetted before publicly allowed and there is also the legal grey area of actually watching the illegal porn to confirm it's status as illegal. I would assume because the person performing the job is unknowingly viewing something illegal it means the legal fault is on the uploader and creator? Hmm, I've never looked into it and I don't know how I would without ending up on some kinda list.

If it didn't end up on pornhub. It would have been distributed some place else (as it did). What are they supposed to do?

Again. If they do that then other websites will host them.
The only thing you can do is not make nudes of yourself.

They are simply going after it because it's a popular well known name. Cut off the hydras head and 7 more will pop up.

What a waste of time.

Men should be put on leashes
Don’t kink shame 🤬
*thatsmyfetish.gif*

Edit: yeah, not sure what they can do to stop folk from uploading despicable shit but “canceling“ PornHub isn’t the answer. As long as they stay active on deleting rape/underage/revenge shit then I don’t see a problem. Not like they could just hire enough people to screen EVERYTHING before it goes live... and besides, who the fuck would want that job besides some sick fucko? Seeing that kinda content should fuck a normal person up.

I guess some people just love wasting theirtime for absolutely nothing at all to be gained. Might as well go the north pole and protest to the polar ice caps and tell them to stop melting, they will probably accomplish more doing that.

I certainly think porn is great in general when everyone is consenting to fucking and sharing, but I definitely agree that revenge porn and shit like that is a problem. I don't think protesting in front of Pornhub's offices is going to change a lot, but improvements to moderation can always be made.

Guys read the article before we make our community look stupid. There is actually some validity to the protests.

Is there ? Some girl was raped and some user uploaded it. Pornhub received mail from lawyer and deleted it.
It is not fault of Pornhub that someone uploaded it.

Also it won't change anything. Because the moment pornhub shuts down some other site will pop up with servers somewhere else than US.

This should be mentioned in the OP.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.

PornHub should implement better measures to take down videos where the person filmed doesn’t want to be on the platform. The fact it took legal representation means their system needs to improve.
I support PornHub, but they need to be better.

Think about this, if your daughter gets revenge porn uploaded, do you want it to be there for months until legal representation builds a case? If anything deserves a fast takedown system that acts first and asks questions later, like YouTube, it is PornHub.

That lawyer was the actual girl that got raped. She had to pretend to be a lawyer before Pornhub even gave a shit.

PornHub has made it clear in the past that a police report, of any kind or caliber, is enough for them to act.
I'm kinda wondering why that wasn't the case in the two instances from the article. Unless one wasn't filed, in which case.....what can you actually expect them to do? Believe rando #5873495792437593245 that such-and-such is a nono? This is also taking into account that representatives for the site have shown evidence in the past that they get several thousand e-mails a day with people claiming that everything from hardcore screwing to niche fetishes with no nudity are all "rape".

Edit: So we're clear, I'm not saying PornHub is free and clear of any responsibility, far from it. More that when people find videos/images of actual rape or child porn, action number one should be filing a police report. Not rapid fire e-mails or posing as a lawyer (something that's a serious crime in some places).

Not what i was expecting, I mean TBH the protesters are doing a good job.

Sex trafficking / underaged porn doesn't need to be anywhere

And honestly? If you're able to prove your identity and petition to have porn of you taken down, it really shouldn't be so hard.

Can't imagine how bad it must feel to know half a million dudes are busting loads and sharing videos of you getting fucked by some asshole who uploaded your stuff from 5-10 years ago and the people who can stop it don't care.

And to guys who say "just don't record stuff", fuck you, people like you are what ruins these things for everyone else.

Porn should be as hard or harder to procure than Hollywood movies on the internet. Amazing that it isn't.

Because it is easier to make than ever? Any chick with a webcam can make videos of herself for fun and profit.

Did I say anything about the production? I was talking about ease of access. We have the means to make it more difficult to access this stuff, but no one cares. No one is even pretending to look out for the people who shouldn't be viewing the material.

Why does every single vaping site ask for my age every single time I visit, but Pornhub doesn't ask for any sort of age verification? Ask yourself why it's harder for me to find a Hollywood movie to watch for free than it is to find Fabulous Fisting Friends 27.

Do age verifications really do anything? They are a nuisance at most.

They give the impression that the site in question is at least pretending to care about the type of people that visit, but practically? Probably not.
I suppose it has to do with legal issues involving sales, and since the vast majority of porn sites are not actually selling anything they likely have no liability like vaping sites potentially selling things to children. So they don't give a shit, clicks are clicks if they come from adults or minors.

The technology exists to age restrict this stuff, we just don't care as a society to implement it. You could very well have it so that porn streaming sites require actual age verification not just a yes or no click box, this is really not hard at all. I have signed up for some various weed distributors online, and to be able to use their site, I need to send them a photo ID and some other details. This could be done for pornography. We act like there's no way to keep this stuff away which is laughable. Like again, look how easy it is to find and watch any kind of porn of your choosing, versus trying to find some hollywood flick you want. They can make things harder for you than they currently are with porn, is all I'm saying.

Uh okay, let me know when the protest parody porn is out.

They should really be protesting Instagram, I can't even open the app for one second without seeing a huge bubble butt selfie or yoga pants camel toe. I feel sexually harrassed on IG these women have no shame. :messenger_weary: Some of those photos and video clips :messenger_loudly_crying: :messenger_loudly_crying: :messenger_loudly_crying:

If you're dealing with PornHub, it isn't hard. At all.
You just have to use the proper channels.
And firing off e-mails left and right, posing as a lawyer and crying to Twitter ain't it.

Oh good. PornHub doesn't strike me as a particularly corrupt website, they seem pretty cool.

But it worked, so whatever.

yeah fuck people who actually tell the truth

what does this even mean

If you play with gun you need to take into account that you can blow your head off.

yeah, of course, everyone know this. But i'm 99% sure that when most girls say "sure you can tape it", they do not intend for you to upload it to websites where everyone can see once the relationship is over.

Pretty shitty situation overall, however I don't think they deserve to be shutdown but they definitely owe that person who was a minor good compensation money.

They're supposed to remove it when the person asks for it. At least in America. Isn't there a right to be forgotten law that allows that to happen?
