PS Now 1 year sub for $99 now available

sounds tempting. does it require a PS+ membership? and is there a complete list of games anywhere? the second is a must

When they have a catalog comparable to nexflix I'll consider it.

How exactly would you quantify that? Movies and games are not a 1:1 comparison and Netflix can be prone to having a sea of rubbish with along with the gems. Personally, I'd sub if there are three or more titles that I want to play on the service. That's just my value judgement though.

If the list on the IGN wiki is up to date, it's definitely not worth it in my opinion.

Not much on there exclusive to Sony platforms, most of the content still requires an additional purchase beyond the monthly fee, and I get more value out of PS+ for half the cost.

If it has a comparable price to Netflix than I want a comparable amount of value. In my case that would be how many hours of entertainment I get out of it. So maybe about 10ish hours a week worth; probably works out to about 2-4 games a month or so. Assuming the average of 3 games, that leaves me needing 36 games i would want to play over the course of the year. There are not 36 games I want or would be willing to play over PSNow.

And I thought that moving goal post couldn't get more ridiculous.

That was my first comment about PSNow.

12*3=36, not 66, for what it's worth.
I'm sorry, It's 3am where I live and I just got back from work. my point still stands.

So if we hold up on ps2 classics they will hopefully make price and policy adjustmenrs.

Sales of psn now must not be meeting expectations

I may not ever use psnow but if it's ever near the same quality and lag free then maybe

Extra fee? When I had PSNOW, there wasn't any extra charges outside of monthly charges. Unless I'm wrong.... Every game, I clicked to play... Played. Lol

I'm thinking about buying a code at PSX because it'll be a voucher rather than starting the service ASAP. That way I can hold off on activating it until next year.

$100 for a year is definitely a great deal though.

They should really just do $10/month, $50/6 months, and $100/year.

I would probably pay for this if they opened it up to PC. The current list of compatible devices is rather disappointing.

You're wrong. The subscription doesn't cover the entire PS Now library.

It's not $9 per month, though. You give them $100 all at once and then they let you use the service for a year.

If it actually cost $9 per month, I'd totally check it out for a month.

Oh I relaize that. I'm jsut saying the price is really good when you break it down and compare it to the other tiers. Paying $99 all at once is still steep but I'd be willing to bite the bullet if my internet connection was up to snuff and I had the money.

What is it for? The extra fee? Is it for certain games?

Edit: I must not have paid attention if there were other fees. I must have played only those covered under the monthly fee lol. It's like Amazon prime? Some are free and some are for purchase to rent?

It's more Netflix not Prime

That would be the ideal pricing structure.

I think this is a great deal. It could use a few tweaks for sure.
I'm tempted... Going to make a list to determine if I'll try it for a year.

Bit meh considering I can get 12 months of live for $39AUD. I know the game selection on PS+ is often better but there's nothing on the ps4.

$99 per year is still not a good deal for the selection offered.
If you need to pay that much in advance, you're better of spending a bit more and buy a used console, and either buy used discs cheaply or just wait for PSN sales, those PS3 games get serious reductions almost every week.
And you get to play them whenever, even offline if you wish.

You could buy like 10 - 30 of those games PERMANENTLY and without online hassle for that price. :X

You cant play those games in multiple devices whereas PS Now allows you to stream those games to multiple devices which is a great option and you dont have to carry or buy PS3.

You can do the same for dvds but Netflix exists.
I like how people use that argument but forget other types of services they love and hold dear.

I'm on Netflix, Amazon, SlingTV, and FuboTV. It's all good. PS Now is worth it for that price.

Yeah, but games tend to have more replay value; you can only watch a movie one way.

Also, in a lot of cases, it's best to stick with a few games you enjoy rather than accessing many games you might not even have the time for (ie. anyone describing their Steam backlog).

I got a free subscription from a Black Friday purchase, so I'll check it out, but I'm already not much of a fan of streaming services. Similar services for games have a lot of potential (streaming AAA games on devices incapable of playing the games themselves), but they also hold the potential of completely removing ownership and the right to First Sale (which is a scary thought).

I already have a ps now app on my Sony hdtv but my wife and I are thinking of buying a small hdtv for our son and I'm now thinking of buying him a Sony hdtv and a PS3 controller with a sub to ps now.
I know he'll love it.
