PS Plus July offerings for NA

GAF, Vessel is secretly a great game. It does some impressive stuff with interactive music and simulation in puzzle solving (as opposed to tightly scripting everything). Even disregarding the interactive aspect, the licensed music from Jon Hopkins is fuckawesome: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6D4FE833D579F503

I've said this before but I don't think many people have played it!

And Towerfall is brilliant, of course.

And Towerfall is brilliant, of course.

It's still the only PS4 (non-Disc) game I've bought. Everything else is either Free to Play, PS+ Freebie*, or Cross-Buy*. Despite that, I have a pretty sizable downloadable library. I only bought Towerfall just two or three months ago. Had I waited, that would've been free for me too. I'm going to be wary when buying digital games now. I think one of these upcoming months, Super Motherload will be one of the free games (plus it's cross-buy).

*Still required some sort of purchase.

These are the games that are going to be available for PS Plus NA in July:

PS4: TowerFall Ascension, Strider,
PS3: Dead Space 3, Vessel,
PS Vita: Muramasa Rebirth, Doki-Doki Universe

Video posted on the official Playstation channel on Youtube.

EDIT: Well, the video was removed, but fortunately I took a screenshot.

EDIT 2: Posted in the Playstation Blog US.

Fantastic month. Already have Towerfall and Doki Doki, but Strider and Vessel shall be downloaded.

Dead Space 1 is Resident Evil 4 in space.
Dead Space 2 is Uncharted meets Resident Evil 4 in space
Dead Space 3 is full of microtransactions.

That's not true.

I completed the game on hard mode without buying anything.

If someone is lazy, of course, he can buy things, but it's not necessary at all.

Awesome month.

I haven't played any of the Ps3 and Ps4 games.
I was actually considering buying both strider and towerfall some time ago.

Sorry, didn't see where he was talking about himself. And I'm not downplaying indies. I enjoy them. I think most people expect some decently major titles at this point though. At least Knack or something.

I preffer if they continue to release, mostly, quality indies over just any retail game just for the sake of it being a retail game.

I'm way more excited about playing Strider and Towefall than I would have been about Knack

I was close to buying Muramasa Rebirth when I bought a Vita 2000 earlier this month but ended up going with P4G and a 64GB memory card for the huge backlog of Vita games I have from PS+.

So he's right about the game having micro transactions. He didn't say you had to buy them.

That's a pretty solid month, Strider and Muramasa are great additions that I'll definitely play once I get a PS4 or a Vita. Towerfall, Vessel, and DDU I'll definitely give a shot, hadn't really paid attention to them before. Dead Space 3 is solid but it'll be my third copy of the game, still a nice get.

The microtransactions are barely noticeable. I hate microtransactions as much as the next guy, but this game isn't really one to knock for having them.

Dead Space 3 is a great example of internet backlash going way too far, and actually hurting a game that didn't deserve it. DS3 may not be the best Dead Space game, but it is far from a bad game and still has a lot of amazing qualities that the series is known for.

I really get the idea that many of the people badmouthing it didn't bother to play it for more than an hour. You kill some humans in the very beginning of the game, but then when that's over, it's pure Dead Space. Flying from ship to ship in your suit for the first third of the game was glorious and a great throwback to DS1.

no, he isn't.

There are "microtransactions", but the game gives you in-game currency to buy them and does so liberally. If you are EXTREMELY lazy, you can use real money instead but there's really no point.

I played through it fully intending to ignore any and all microtransactions, until I noticed the gigantic pile of in-game money I wasn't using for anything.

yep, not bad at all. If you liked DS 1 and 2 it is very likely you will enjoy 3- especially if you have a co-op partner. The only issue I really had with the game is that the budget is noticeably lower than DS2, so some of the character models look a lot cheaper, and the game is less polished graphically.

Nice, I was just gonna buy Strider during the Steam Sale. The PC version most likely won't be that much better so I can deal with it on PS4 for "free".

funny how Sony isn't even sticking to the new blue ps3 banner that appears on game box art, it's like they don't even like it themselves.

I'll give Dead Space 3 a pass for not having the blue banner because of its age, but Vessel?

I still hate that they changed the black banner to blue on ps3 box art

Absolutely. I only pointed out that he didn't mention the need to buy the microtransactions. I just took it as him taking a chance to ridicule a game he (and a lot of people) were disappointed in. Micro transactions excluded from that disappointment.

If I had to take his comment literally then sure. It's not filled to the brim and having pop ups asking you to buy the best value. It is there though, which is the disappointing for a game that sold for full retail. This has been talked about exhaustively, so I don't think it needs to be touched on anymore. Funnily enough the game having micro transactions now works since it's being given away for Plus which could work out for them to earn a bit of change.

Man, at this point there's no reason to buy a Vita game ever. If you can wait it out, pretty much every game worth owning has gone free. lol
