So i am stuck in a dilemma.. I really really want a Vita but without going into a long story my gaming funds are going to be limited for a bit but a good friend of mine has a Vita w/ 8gb card and 3 games he doesn't want anymore but wants a 360 so he offered to trade me his vita and stuff for my 360 slim. Take into account i have played maybe 2 games on the 360 in the past year and it just sits collecting dust.

Is it a good deal? i know the new xbox is coming next year most likely and at least out of the trade i will get something i will actually play but im still on the fence.

Get around there now and snap his hand off, the Vita itself is worth as much as the 360 not counting the games etc. Certainly a great little device, it's far exceeded my expectations of it. All this rubbish I kept hearing about no games, I don't have the time to play all the games I have for it at the moment.

IF you can make the transition from console to handheld (most people prefer one over the other...me, I prefer handhelds) and your 360 is collecting dust I would def do it.

I wish the PSP games available made a bit more sense.

If I wanted to play Avatar on my Vita I can download it right now. If I want to play Jeanne d'Arc I need to dig up my old PSP.

I agree. I don't know why its not all games in the PSN store.
At least Jeanne d'Arc is one you can transfer over (if you own a PS3)

So I fancied some fps online action the other night so I fired up resistance BS. Was running around playing as I do, switching between set ups based on map / how enemy was playing. Now I always assumed you have your weapon and thats it. After playing a bit on one map I just held down the change weapon button for no reason and I had options there..... I couldn't believe I never realised you pick up other peoples weapons off the floor lol. I assumed it just picked up you weapon type for ammo.

Well it made the game way more fun after I clocked on to that. Was on the map with the open bit in the middle and the upper level that goes around the outside that snipers love so much. Had the headhunter (or what ever its called, one that fires drones) killed a sniper, picked up his gun and switched to it. Started owning using the 2 weapons as and when either was needed. Somewhere along the lines I must have picked up the auger because when I noticed someone else was in hiding I opened up the weapon wheel and it was there. Switched to it and nailed the guy through the wall for the final kill.

Game got a whole lot more fun.

This game definitely has its rather glaring flaws but I think with a couple of tweaks it could be pretty decent. Basically sort the online frame rate out and make the shotgun weaker so less people use it. If your in a laggy game its so easy to own with it. If I just use that weapon, on most maps (as they are small) I almost feel invincible.

Oh and CTF and domination modes would help. Also a hoard mode....... never gonna happen though.

I would do it in a heart beat. Sold m xbox before getting a vita. I play this thing way way way more.

To clarify, do you have a PS3 as well? If you have a PS3, then trading the 360 for a Vita is an absolute no-brainer. Especially as more games are added to the buy-one-get-both list.

If you're leaving yourself without an HD console... well, I dunno. Like you said, the next Xbox is probably a year away.

If you barely use your Xbox then it's a great deal. In a year or two the xbox will be a bit useless, the vita hopefully won't. Not sure if you have a PS3 either, but the vita since it's Sony brand will have some unique IPs that you might not have had the chance to experience before. Such as Uncharted, LBP and that's not including upcoming/just released stuff that wouldn't otherwise be on the xbox such as Sound Shapes, Gravity Rush, AC3 Vita, P4: The Golden.

Yeah, PS3 is my main console.

Judging by the responses i will defiantly do it, also how is Unit 13? it's $20 at GS and if it's decent ill swing by there in a bit and pick it up after i drive over to my friends house to trade him.

Unit 13 was worth it at full retail price so....

It looks generic, but it's actually quite a fun shooter that fits the portable format well with its not-too-long missions and daily challenges (and a fun coop as well).

Yea the menus look like soviet military interface but the in game graphics are actually rather well done. It is definitely a very competent shooter that is well worth the $20. If nothing else it proves shooters can and do work well on the vita.

It has quite a good demo. What are the 3 games that he has for the VITA?

Unit 13 is a terrible piece of software.

If your xbox 360 is collecting dust and you're not attached to it, then you might as well give it a try! And if you don't like playing on a Vita, you'll still be in the same position as when you had an xbox 360.

Personally the Vita has been more than worth it, but I'm not sure what games appeal to you and how varied your taste is.

Uncharted, Shinobido 2 and Ninja Gaiden.

I have no real interest in NG/Shin, i will probably just trade them in towards Gravity Rush or Virtua Tennis.

There isn't a megaton of games out that i really want but i really want

Gravity Rush
Virtua Tennis
MLB The Show '12
Rayman
Uncharted

Also really interested in these upcoming games

Assassins Creed
Sly
Zone of the Enders HD collection
Ragnarok
Malicious
New Kings Story
LBP
All Stars Battle Royale

ok wow, now that i say it out loud, err.. Type it out i can clearly see that yeah, the vita is something i really want and would play more then the 360 LOL. The problem i have with 360 is there just isn't anything exclusive to the platform that really interest me other then some arcade titles but yeah after thinking about all the games i want it has games out i want to play now and a fair amount coming this year.

Unit 13 is a terrible piece of software.
It has good, varied gameplay, well designed missions, decent controls and a fun online coop. There's nothing terrible about it. It could be a bit more polished, but otherwise there's nothing too much wrong with it.

I am a HUGE handheld fan, i play my 3DS/PSP/DSIXL all the time.

Although i will admit it might take a minute to wrap my head around having 2 analogs on a handheld.

gravity rush..... Cant guarentee you will like it but its my (and others) game of the year so far.
Yeah i have watched tons of gameplay and thoughs/reviews, even with the mixed reviews it just looks like a game that is right up my ally, it's actually a game that is pushing me really hard to get a Vita.

Never go back.

Do the swap and get some use out of it. Even if you do the swap and don't use it it's not like you've lost anything you will miss.

I keep my Vita in a zipped up case. I was getting ready to leave for work, my hands were full, forgot my keys in the house sit my Vita on my truck, and drive away. I hit about 60MPH heard the damn thing bouncing off the roof of my truck I immediately knew what I have done. Look in the rear view mirror and it was in mid air then smacks the road and tumbles what seemed like forever. I pull over run back the case was still intact unzip it and not a crack, scratch, or dent. It was still in perfect shape, fired right up still working this happened about 2 months ago. Only problem was after I unzipped the case the zipper split and will not zip back correctly. Talk about having a melt down running back to get it cars running right beside it thought for sure it was gonna get flattened.

Close one....yeah had my Vita fall off of the couch. Fell on a pillow that my gf pug lays on. Close call since we have wooden floors lol.

what's the best tower defense game for psp/vita?

i already have plants vs. zombies..

Pixeljunk Monsters? How is Bloons TD? field runners? any others?

Since you own a PS3 and don't play your 360 I'm going to have to agree that it's a good move. I LOVE my Vita more than I could've imagined back when I was sitting on the fence.
Awesome piece of hardware, and the games I've played have all been great.

I saw you mentioned the two games your friend has, and while I wasn't nuts about the Shinobido 2 demo at all, I really like Ninja Gaiden despite this being my third time owning the game. At least play them before doing the trade in to see what you think.

Also, Unit 13 is a pretty damn fun game, and a no brainer at $20.

One thing to think about is if you regret the move, you can replace the 360 cheaply. If you don't do the swap, you might not get another chance to grab a Vita for cheap.

I was never 'on the fence' because I knew I'd buy one to play GT:PSP on. I have, however, been blown away by how much I actually love the thing now that I've got one.

Thats what I ended up doing. Had been about 8+ months since I used my 360 and even longer with my Wii.

Traded them both in and plus like the 5 total games I had between both systems at Gamestop and got $290. Got my Vita, mem card and a game with no money down, not to mention the $50 gift card as well.

So happy I did that.

Hi guys! Just a quick question, if I have a retail game and bought it dd am I able to keep the game saves from the retail game and continue it on dd?

Really liking the sony screen protector. It protected my screen from fingerprints up until now. Sadly it's gotten hot due to summer and due to sweating the screen protector is starting to show finger prints.

How do I clean it? A slightly moist cloth?

So many sales this weekend... I've got to get at least Mortal Kombat at GameStop for $20, but that Best Buy buy two get one deal is tempting.

Yeah i saw on CAG it's all games $29.99 and up.

It's like it's fate that this trade must happen and i must get a Vita.

I just picked up Mortal Kombat at Gamestop for $20. I've been messing around with the tutorial mode a little. It doesn't look quite as nice visually as I had hoped, but it seems like there's a ton of content in it.

Honestly, the reason I wanted it was because I heard Jeff Gerstmann gush over the story mode of MK on the consoles, and he also said it was intact in the Vita version as well. I haven't regularly played MK for years, but I'm excited to check it out. I think MK Trilogy on the PS1 was the last one I played a ton. I'm sure I'll get my $20 out of the game.

Yap, I love the general trend of mobile computing. It's a very liberating lifestyle compared to the days where most of my entertainment is tied to the living room (and work tied to the studyroom).

Now I can do all my digital stuff anywhere, anytime and anyway I want. Everything is in my neat little tote bag consisting of MacBook Air, Vita and iPhone 4S. They are light enough that I took them on a hiking trip with my son yesterday. We made photos and presentations as we went up the mountain and stopped by his favorite ice cream parlor along the way.

It is amazing that our filled up water bottle felt heavier than all these electronics combined.

Saw this question pop up a few times but no one answered.

I know for sure that a new DD install does not wipe the older one (if you redownload).

Since I lost 4 Vita cartridges months ago, I guess I can rebuy one of them on DD and try it out for you.

Will update end of the week.

Hello everybody, I've been lurking Gaf for a while now, but like a lot of other people this thread made me join. I got my vita on Monday along with the MGS collection and Gravity Rush. I have to say this system is amazing and this thread is equally amazing...it's good to have a place to come and talk about the vita minus all the negativity.

Feel free to add my psn it's the same as my name here
