PS3 2.76 Update

...and b : they dont tell you that you need to update until youve booted the game up and tried to load your save up.
Mine always lets me know an update is required while I'm still in the XMB. Maybe if you click over to and on the game really, really fast you can avoid the message? If so, you're right that they should close that loophole.

i turned the machine on, then the tv. when i turned the tv on i had already gotten to the first confirm screen of demons souls. it was when i got to the online agreement confirmation screen (after you press start at the title screen) that it told me i wasnt logged on. i wondered if the net was down then got a message in the top right corner telling me i needed to do an update.

What's with all the stupid bannings going around here?
He got banned for making a joke? Seriously? Most people replied with laughing at the joke, what the hell.

I'm honestly interested in hearing the reason behind it.

I hope they never fix the clock.

I still don't even know what the clock problem supposedly is. All I ever hear are people saying it needs to be fixed. Then again trying to check the time on the console isn't really something I'd ever do, but what's the problem that people have with it right now and how do they feel it ought to be fixed?

Never understood it either. The clock always works for me. I also work for SCEA tech support and never hear anyone complain about the clock. It seems exclusive to NeoGAF.

Don't care i have a 20GB PS3:D even if i didn't i was one of the 130 million+ who buy a PS2,don't care for in game voice chat i barely use it on games that support voice chat, and i don't care for a small clock that you can barely see.

So even if it was right i still don't care.:D

you are one of the ppl who would get a second job and buy it even if it had no games out for it.

good for you.

you either strive to get better or fail in mediocrity.

there are complaints to be made about all three of the online services and all three companies should be trying to improve on these complaints the best they can.

The problem is when you hit the PS button the battery indicator overlaps the clock and you can't read it for a few seconds.

You are blind.

Well, seriously, have you both never hit the PS button to check the battery life of your controller? It is pretty obvious what happens, the battery life indicator overlaps over the clock.

Okay, I know what you're talking about but I don't understand why so many GAFers are up in arms about it. Seriously, I have yet to receive one complaint from a consumer regarding this. Backward compatibility. Check. Game updates not downloading all the way because Media Server and possibly Information Board (and even the time settings) interefering. Check. Firmware. Check. The battery indicator blocking the time. Never.

Now that you know what are you going to do?

Because it's a dumb mistake and it drives people crazy how this bug can stay alive for so long. And this is GAF.

I did not have to get a second job to get a PS3,in fact if any one need to get a second job to buy a PS3 damn its pay suck, and thankfully the PS3 did have something to play when it came out, most of those who say other wise tend to be fanboy, since Resistance was a great game.

Sure they should who is saying other wise? i just don't care for those features some do i don't,and to be a service which is actually free of charge i found PSN to be great where it counts core online play, since on live not matter if you pay there is lag just like in PSN which is what bother me the most for the most time games are clean for me.

I stand corrected... and feeling slightly stupid. :|

No, the clock truly doesn't work.

You can reset it as many times as you want, but it eventually the time will be off. Mine is at least a day behind now.

LOL, this is the worst PS3 firmware update thread ever. No information and no discussion about the actual firmware, just 2 pages about some retard who got banned for a joke post.

i just tested my download version of gran turismo 5 prologue... is it possible that the game loads a lot faster now?
No.

Also, who really checks the battery life of the controller? I usually plug it up whenever the on-screen prompt warns me that the battery is low. I don't need to know how many bars I have before it's low. That's just toolish.

are you shittin me? just look at the clock when youre done checking the battery what the FUCK

It'd be nice if it imitated the PSP UI with the battery indicator always there right next to the clock (ask the battery every 10 minutes or so). "New message" icon up there wouldn't hurt either.

Rollo Larson said:

Are you shittin me? It is totally stupid and unprofessional that the battery and the clock use the same place to show up.

Actually, no. I hold the button down to check battery life. I guess I'm just used to doing it in the old manner before there was in-game XMB.

I don't see the problem so much though... it's only there for a second or so. If anything it seems like more of a hassle to try and pull it up on the system than anything else. I usually just look at my watch or the clock on the wall if I want to know what time it is.

anyone getting errors after updating? im getting 80710102 (DNS error). xbl and my pc still works.

I get this a lot, but I think it's from an old firmware update rather than this one (or maybe not).

Basically, if I have the PS3 on wireless, I can only use one other wireless machine (laptop etc) and no more otherwise it'll override the DNS set for the PS3, causing it to disconnect with that error. Turning the third machine off however solves the problem completely.

this is a problem of your router. I have a 4 years old fritzBox router with wlan and i never get diconnected. There are up to 6 wlan gadgets connected to my router at once (3x PC, PS3, 2x iPhone) and none of them has any problems. Try to update your router firmware.

Hey, the clock isn't something I really care about. It is a side annoyance and a show of negligent unprofessionality imho, but other than that, it's not something I obsess over or bitch about.
If they fix it, good.
I was just pointing out what the problem with the clock was and trying to be funny, but I think I failed on the funny part.

If it's a day behind then it's telling the correct time.

You didn't fail at the being funny part at all.

And why is that? Shouldn't the correct time include the correct day?

Also, it isn't as if it is exactly a day behind, the time itself is also incorrect. And I still don't understand why you feel being a day behind is correct. When you set your clock, you set it to your current day and time (in your time zone). The clock should remain accurate to that.

Someone check if that madcatz sticks/pads work with PS2 games!

..yeah it's a longshot.

Still doesn't work with the Madcatz Tournament Edition Fightsticks. :(

The Hori Fighting Stick 3 is compatible but no-go for TE sticks, come on Sony! (I want to play Alpha Anthology and SF3:3S)

And it's awesome. You can past anywhere as long as you get the virtual keyboard thing. So u can copy from browser and past in the chat room for example.

I wish there was a firmware update that stopped LBP and KZ2 from freezing 10 minutes from when I booted up the damn games. I hope Sony follows MS's lead and allows you to install and play any game from the hard drive, as it is, I have two $60 coasters.

Umm ... wtf are you doing to your discs? While I'd be quite happy if they allowed installs, if you didn't have an issue with those discs at purchase (which means a defect, and can be returned), that means you fucked it up.

How did we ever live without installs for the last several generations? Christ, BD releases are actually far more durable than CD and DVD titles. You must have an awful lot of coasters.
