Just noticed this hidden at the bottom of a Guardian financial report:
More fuel to the fire of delay rumours, as I guess this means the controller itself isn't even finished yet.
Come on Feb / Sony, you've got some 'splaining to do...
The 10m PS3's is an estimate by yet another analyst I guess, probably based upon Sony's 10m in 1 year PS2 launch.
Bluetooth boost
CSR, the Bluetooth chip specialist, raced to a record high yesterday on hopes that it could win a big contract from Sony. Its shares gained 35p to 995p amid talk that it could be named as the designer of the Bluetooth device in the wireless controller of the new PlayStation 3. Bluetooth is a short-range radio link that transmits information between computers, mobile phones and other electronic gadgets. UBS expects Sony to ship 10m PS3 consoles by March 2007. As such it believes a deal with Sony could be very lucrative. Moreover, the Swiss bank, which yesterday upped its target price for CSR to 1150p from 1050p citing strong fourth quarter sales, believes Sony could announce who has won the controller contract at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
