Since the search seems to be broken I'll just make a new thread. My question is this I noticed you can get a usb adapter to use the Dual Shock on ps3. I was browsing thru fry's and noticed they have a Usb adapter designed for Pc which works with the Dual Shock 2 so my question is can I just buy one of those and use it for the ps3? Has anyone tried this? The pc ones are only 5 dollars whereas the pelican and intech ones seem to be 14.99 I wanted to get 3 so I would be saving quite a bit.


Second Question is do these adpaters work with all ps3 games ? ( the ones specially made for ps3)

I can't vouch for *all* games, but I have used the usb adapter for the a controller and the GH guitar - both worked on the ps3.

The one by Pelican works perfectly for Guitar Hero 1 (but GH2 has some hiccups). It seems to work fine with PS3 games using Dual-Shock, unless the game requires motion-sensing.

We've had this discussion before.
Certain ones work better than others, but none are perfect.
Some have a bit of a lag.
Others freak out if you hold left for too long.
Others don't work with all games/controllers.

Bottom line is that the Pelican one is NOT for Guitar Hero. It's a complete hack. Do not believe the package.
ASiD is ok.

But don't use them expecting your peripherals to work. Dual Shock only.

Another difference is the cheap $5 one does not have the PS button on it, so that makes navigation a pain in the ass.

I can personally confirm the Pelican works perfectly on GH1, but it sucks balls for GH2.

Have you used the ASiD adapter? Does it work for both?

GH80s is the same engine as GH2, so, no. It'd be the same hack they use with GH2.

Also, stuff like the GunCon1 and Taiko Drums haven't worked with any adapters.

You probably should have at least two. Not supporting motion control is a little unfair if you're playing Resistance splitscreen and somebody can't shake off bullseye tags.

Plus, its good to have a second one in case the battery dies.

There was a rather large delay through my x-arcade sticks.

Of course,thats probably because x-arcades have their own adapter for ps2,and then its going thru the usb adapter on top of that , causing a delay that makes virtua fighter extremely difficult.

I had not tried any ps2 games , all i had was virtua fighter 5 at the time.
I promptly returned the adapters within 2 days.

So, dont go cheap , get a pelican =P

Yeah, I just checked those after I made the post, but after a few tries, I can't seem to get my DS2 hooked up to my Pelican adapter working on my GBA emulator.

Guess I'll just have to keep trying and experimenting with the options.

I'm curious about how they handle DDR pads - I'd imagine there wouldn't be a problem if there aren't any lag issues on the standard controller, but... just wanted to verify.
