PS3 Downloadable Games Release Thread

I haven't seen a difference other than the fact I download much faster from the Hong Kong servers.

I set up a Hong Kong account first, because the setup was almost entirely in English. I then only had to Google a Honk Kong address.

The Japanese account was a bitch to set up because I don't understand anything in Japanese. I had to hunt down websites that had pictures with captions that would tell me what I should do at each step of the setup.

If someone who has done it could throw together a guide to making an HK and a JPN account perhaps with links it would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how to do the JPN account.

For the Hong Kong account, just do the same thing except select Hong Kong as your country. The setup is in English so you don't really need any guides. You will need to google a Hong Kong address. I think I just googled Hong Kong restaurants and then picked one out.

The Loco Roco Christmas demo is available in Canada (probably in the US as well). Needs update 3.02 in order to play though.

Yep in the US too. I downloaded it about 3 hours ago. :)

So i downloaded that demo with the funny looking cat in it from the JP store and have to ask, wtf is going on here? Can't read a lick of kanji so i've just been clicking buttons and the cat has been doing some bizarre stuff (it's eaten ramen and acted like it was swimming on the floor somehow).

Now the black cat with the bowtie is back and they're standing in front of a carton of apples and what looks like oranges......

news to me - I'm just going by what Jim posted awhile back.

Last piece of info SCEA provided had it listed as the 19th, so who knows.
Go Sudoku and Lemmings on the one day end up being surprise also.

Is there a way to download the demos with a PC ?

Internet is retarded in my country (speed is good, but what you're allowed to do with it is beyond lame) so I can't really download all those big files here at home.

If not (yet), can you download them to memory cards or usb-sticks and share the file with other people ?
(like I download Motorstorm demo with PS3 onto a usb-stick, give that stick to another PS3-owner and he installs it from the stick ?)

goldrusher, right now it's only straight to PS3. It doesn't just download onto the PS3, it also installs and it automatically does so to the internal HDD for demos and downloadable games. It doesn't give you the option to download the files elsewhere.

Anyone else get that PS3 newsletter today from SCEA?

Had 3 "coming soon" bits regarding the PSN stuff. Nothing big, but somewhat interesting...

Fl0w (game&demo)
Blast Factor (co-op online patch)
Genji 2 (downloadable costumes)

I got that too. Was about to post it.

Yeah, someone posted a thread about it

MediEvil is now available at the US PS Store.

Yeah, saw that earlier. Just one PSone game.
I have a bad feeling about the US store compared to the Japanese one. Also, make the "What's new" column appear on the main page, just like the Japanese one. I hate having to click on something to bring it up.

I randomly downloaded Mainichi Isshou (which isn't really a game, of course) and went through a bunch of the Toro Station news bits. I had never actually messed with any of the Toro "games" previously, but I must say, it's rather cute. :P It's a neat way to handle news, I think. Today's update, for instance, talks about the new PS3 firmware update and all of the new stuff it adds to Mainichi Isshou (mainly, microtransaction goodness for Toro's room). The American Jokes thing was rather...interesting as well. I'll have to read more of them another time, as they are actually kind of entertaining in a wierd way.

Anyone actually know what the standalone games were? I mean, you have a mini-game here, but it's mostly just reading and decorating.

Saw that too. Very odd, really, considering there is a PSP MediEvil (which isn't actually half bad).

OP updated with links to "official" threads for each of the released or soon-to-be released games, as available.

Save for PSOne classics, which I no longer need to worry about, and the PS2 System Software (which I installed) is there anything in the PSN worth getting?

I'm not really interested in Lemmings. How did Blast Factor work out? Worth the $8? What about Cash Guns Chaos DXL? (WTF is that)?

What's Gripshift? Not a fan of Tekken, so I see no reason to start downloading it now. Ditto for GT, btw.

What about the other two I mentioned?

Gripshift thread
Mario's post about the PS3 version

Most of the impressions I heard from here said to stay away from Cash Guns Chaos.

Blast Factor is reminiscent of Geometry Wars/Mutant Storm, in 1080p with some sixaxis loving. It's alright - I'd say try the demo first.

Go Sudoku has a free pack of puzzles if you want to give that a try - the PSP version wasn't actually bad (outside of the "Please Wait" bug), and this has infrastructure (which no one plays) and high score boards.

(clicked on the thread thinking something new was up .. like Tekken, Gripshift or Fl0w... but nothing...)

Zelda Poseur: Lemmings is much more addictive than I thought it would be, you should give it a try. And Blast Factor is underrated, IMO it's better than Geometry Wars in every way (except music).

Fired from EB Games (lol): Lemmings has always sucked, I can't imagine that's changed. I'll probably pick up Blast Factor eventually.

Apologies for making you think that something new has been released!

Blast Factor is good. Go! Sudoku is also a good way to unwind. As far as Sudoku software goes, it's the best and most appealing that I've seen, with some really relaxing aesthetics and chilled, down-tempo music (though I wish there were more than four songs/backgrounds). Plus, Sudoku *can* get pretty addictive if you let it get its hooks in you. For the low price, it's worth a shot.

I suppose I'll consider that one too if I ever get past the couple-hundred Sudoku puzzles I have waiting for me in Brain Age and Sudoku Gridmaster for the DS! :lol

Certainly you can't take it on the go with you (unless you grab the PSP version), but i find it to be the most well-rounded and appealing of all the Sudoku games I've encountered.

Not sure if this has been posted, but FULL interview and gameplay clips of GRIPSHIFT DLX. Looks awesome for a downloadable game. Looks like PSN might really turn it to something very special!

:lol @ the new content fiends. I know the feeling.

Thanks for the suggestions. Blast Factor is fantastic. I think I might like it better than Geometry Wars, even!

*ahem*
Taking a lesson from the XBLA Release thread, no point in telling everyone to only post when there's a new release, so look to this first post for (hopefully) the most current info.
Sorry :)

Not sure if this belongs, but since we're here, what ever happened to the mumblings of a JP DMC4 demo?

Ok.. Where is Flow? That game should've been out at launch. I can't imagine what could be taking so long.

I agree. I'll buy it the moment it drops, but: glorified flash game with more delays than FFXII? I have no clue, man... :(

Heres the deal, straight from one of the guys on the team:

Hi guys,

Sorry about the ambiguous answers, but here's the deal: the only official release date for flOw is December 19th, 2006. Seeing as how that seems fairly unlikely, at this point :D , we've set a new target date internally and with Sony. Now, I think when everyone is 100% confident we can hit that date, Sony will announce it, but we don't want to announce too soon, because we don't want to lie to you guys again.

We're really sorry for keeping you guys waiting. We're working extremely hard to get this game out and get it out right, and we deeply appreciate your excitement and support.

Sony announced yesterday at CES that it will come out before the end of the month. I guess we'll have to wait and see...

flOw must be getting some serious updates we dont know about or something.

I think Sony can see the potential in it being the new Geometry Wars.

At first I couldn't see the point in flow, but after seeing the vids, and how it all fits together with the cool soundtrack, I can't wait!
