I don't have this problem with anything else in my home.
Call bullshit if you want, but it's my experience with it and it's not the most favorable.
Seriously, what the fuck is with some of you people? Get off your high horses for a few minutes. Not everyone has the same experiences... that much should be obvious by now.

Hopefully it'll fix my wireless problems downstairs..

Ditch it and get some other model? Those WRT54x ones aren't too pricey.Fafalada said:Custom firmware - if your model supports it. Last time I was looking my model was one of the few that weren't supported -_- (WRTH54GS here).
I heard only good things about OpenWRT: http://openwrt.org/gofreak said:What should I be looking into? Mine is a Linksys WRT54G.

Yes, it's free...but you also get what you pay for.
I have a rock solid connection, but yet I'm still getting kicked off of Killzone every other game. The problem isn't (most likely) on your end.

I dont think its the person's router, etc.....OR PSN. My take is that Sony's Network just has some incompatabilities with certain ISPs and how they route traffic.
My issue....I used to have Time Warners Roadrunner service and i would always have super slow PSN downloads, and all sorts of weird disconnects. I called Sony about it, they basically said it wasnt their issue, and everything on their end was fine. My ISP came out and checked my equipment, and said (you guessed it) everything was fine. I dealt with the inconsistent BS until FIOS came to my area.
Since getting FIOS, my PSN downloads are blazing fast, all the time, any time of day. I rarely get a PSN disconnect and when i do its during maintenance times (i find out later..). Many online games are also peer-to-peer so you are also relying on other players internet connections to keep a stable game going. If their connection is crap you get disconnects, and severe lag, giving the impression that its PSN, but its really not.
I guess there's no real way to know for sure but IMO, the issue lies with certain ISPs having weird incompatabilities with Sonys network.
Mine was like this until I just updated it in general. Most people don't realize that when they get their router that it needs to be updated. The only reason the OP is getting kicked off of PSN isn't because it sucks as the second poster said, but that their router either A) sucks or B) needs to be updated.gregor7777 said:Linksys routers and PSN are a bad combo for a lot of people.
Mine did exactly the same thing until I upgraded to custom firmware. Now it's smooth sailing.
I think this may be the case. Before, I had 7meg Verizon DSL, and I got blazing speeds with PSN downloads. I am now using Time Warner Road Runner 15meg cable, and while the rest of the internet seems to have gotten faster, PSN now downloads slow as molasses.sloppyjoe_gamer said:The conclusion I have come to (based on my own personal experiences) is this...

Sounds about right. It was late last night for me too.FatBaby said:I have never had a boot from PSN until last night, and when I saw this thread, and I was getting really worried.
Apparently, there was some maintenance going on the PSN at around 2AM EST, which seemed to be when I got booted last night. (Around 11PM PST or so)
Even post patch (SSF2HDR)?The Faceless Master said:i know that i used to randomly get kicked when playing HDREMIX< but i put that down to the game being buggy.
i've been playing bad company recently, and had no kicking from psn issues.

The new patch supposedly fixed a lot of those connection issues. The Faceless Master said:haven't played post patch.

This was the case until about 1 1/2 ago when I got wind of DD-WRT. The thing is amazing to have on it. You probably have version 2.2 don't you? If so then yours has more on board memory and can handle more. The point being that once I went with CFW, it really did make the router feel like a 600 dollar one with the heft of options and tweak options.Broseybrose said:In my house, our entire network (2 desktops, laptop, and PS3) runs off of a 5 year-old Linksys WRT54G. Everything is wireless, except for the main desktop.
I can wirelessly stream 1080p movies from my main desktop's hard drive to my PS3 through that router. PSN is no trouble, either.
And Im no router expert. I didnt change use custom settings or install any firmware. Just a regular 5 year-old WRT54G that works like its supposed to, peoples. Actually, since it was designed long before the PS3, I guess its good design that its compatible in the first place.
