PS3, X360 WWE Smackdown 2007 screens

Damn even the crowd looks decent.

Im impressed, these are 360 screens or PS3 screens? The game will look better on PS3 (be it that its far more powerful than 360) right?

Anyway, the big news here is that it's multiplatform and that's what I'm happy about. It never made much sense to have seperate development teams create abysmal crap for the Xbox when they could have just made the Smackdown series multiplatform. Otherwise, I don't expect much from the first next generation attempt. After all, the JBI on the Playstation 2 didn't offer a huge leap over the PSX series. It should still be good fun online though with there being no cheat devices to spoil the fun on Xbox Live.

This I agree with. Apparantly the money truck that Sony backed up to the THQ offices ran out. It'ss be nice to be able to play this n your console of choice and not stuck with a far inferior game done by a different development team who had NO experience in the field.

The weird part about JBI was that it had a ton of unique counters that never got carried onto the following games.

At the very least, I want to see what they do to the GM mode. That's where the bread and butter is since they seem to refuse to give us a true "season" mode.

Get used to it non-Sony whores. This is the sort of shit we'll be putting up with for the next half-decade.

eeeshhh, I'm not impressed at all. (where's the lights?)

I bet they will still have some animations recycled since Smackdown 1 and SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role dating back 6 years ago

fixed

Edit: credit to Chris for coming up with it first :lol

Looks pretty good -

Hopefully the animation will be half-decent, though - terrible animation + great models = fucking with my head in a very strange way.

some things:

I want background music back...that SUCKED without the background music in it.

Stamina sucks, I don't care if wrestlers get tired in real life this is a game I wanna have fun I don't want to play a sim. (I know you can turn it off but they sllllooooweed the action down comapred to Here comes the pain.)

I want my Here Comes the Pain season, I loved how they tracked the titles in season that was fucking amazing.

I want Women who can wrestle in the game I know "OmGz u'S a FaG" but I like the Wmoen's Championship belt in the game if ya know...Women can wrestle for it. Lita and Trish were the only ones in the last game who are credible of holding it...I want fucking Mickies crazy ass in my game.

mini trons in the background and correct lighting will be nice...it's not that hard, the lighting is crap in these games.

just by looking at the pics you can tell its gonna animated like ps2...stiff....the models looks awesome but the whole stadium detailed looks like washed out textures and no lighting....looks like they just remove the ps2 models and put in the new ones....lazy fucks

Smackdown's animation is fucking weird and I really can't put my finger on WHY it looks so bad. It could be the character rigging, not enough bones for the basic skeleton or something, because everything looks stiff. And other times it looks like there's very low mocap accuracy or not enough keyframes.

The other problem is the animation blending, which is nonexistent/a total fucking mess. The guys are slipping and sliding around like crazy. Raw and Raw 2 may be steaming piles of shit, but they do have really good IK and transition animations. I think the later Gamecube games have some degree of IK as well.

I guess what I'm saying is, whatever animation system they're using needs to be COMPLETELY thrown out, because it looks like it was based on legacy PSone code.

Has anyone tried Yuke's WRESTLE KINGDOM for X360? The animation on that looked good from the demo movies, and I wish they'd use that as the baseline for the next-gen developments.

You're the goddamn devil and you are perpetuating the further downfall of wrestling games.

From what I've read Wrestle kingdom is just DOR 2 with high res NJPW skins on top. I hate the way DOR 2 played, but I still want to play this. I wanna get my Mutoh on! It's NOT region free though.

Ahem, one more time...

VERY EARLY TEST SHOTS.
This was very likely rushed to make Wrestlemania Weekend, just to have something to show.
The progression to a great game will happen. Every year it starts out looking pretty barren and the hype train builds up.

The problem with Yukes is they just NOW decided to stick with a grappling system. BEfore HEr Comes the Pain, they tried to reinvent the wheel with every game. The system in SD vs Raw 06 is fantastic, especially on the higher difficulties.

It's not KOC2, but it's the best US wrassler out there.

Well i have always loved the Smackdown series of games and i love the character models so far, they could only get better, hell maybe Fight Night better.

-The arenas need to be licensed from now on, i'm tired of being in generic city in said generic arena. I want the Silverdome, i want MSG, i want the United Center hell i want the small house show venues. I want an authentic representation of the sport.

- I want smoother animations, better weight based and logic based move implementation.

- I want custom ring entrances to inlcude songs off our HDs

- I want the exact roster that is availible at the cut off date. Not a portion but the ENTIRE RAW/SMACKDOWN hell even OVW roster as well, with the ability to call up and send down.

- I want all the titles. Current, recent and of yester-year. I would to bring out the old WWF belt with the Ultimate Warrior belt colors.

- I agree that the Women's Division should be in the game, not just vallets that could fight, i want fueds, i want stories and have the option to actually fight for the belt.

- I want the entire annoucing team of the brand to be inplemented to thier respective shows. Tazz and Cole for Smackdown, Styles/Coach/King for Raw, and JR for WrestleMania.

IS this to much to ask?

When you play this with your friends, does the best player win or is there a script that you have to follow?
Umm...whoever is better generally will win, unless you are fighting against Tripple H and you have the " I'm the King of Kings " move and you will win automatically via a Sledgehammer and a pregnant Steph.

I will be severely disappointed if they don't have a SvR'06 to '07 CAW transfer system. I mean, come the fuck on. Makin mostly the same 30 guys year in and year out? Cut us some slack- The PS2 'trade' system online was a complete bust, the PSP to PS2 caw transfer was a step in the right direction. If they could do that, I don't see why they can't transfer from title to title.

The "Generic City" arenas, at least in the last game, were actually pretty accurate to the city they were in. The WM 21 had Staples Center features in it, such as the luxury boxes and etc. But still, I see what you mean.

The rest of this, if this was put in a game combined with the great playing style of SvR2006, it would probably be the ultimate wrestling game

Yes, probably.

Models + textures + character-specific animations + tweaking for every single character on the roster? That's a shitload of art time you need, and schedules are set during pre-production - it's not like you can just shoehorn a new character in a few months away from the game going gold. Not without cutting something else to free up the time, and especially now with the detail going into each of the models - it's not like the N64 days, when you could slap together a jaggified wrestler with hardly any facial detail and call him whatever you want. Hell, I've got an excellent Batista on my copy of No Mercy that took me about 3 minutes to create. :D

While the game will still differentiate between strong and weak grapples, these moves have been mapped to the right analog stick. Now, when you want to grab ahold of your opponent and execute a move such as a suplex or a slam, you'll do so by pressing the analog stick in any direction. Presumably, your position relative to the position of your opponent will determine which moves are available to you at any given moment. What's even better is that when using the right analog, you'll have greater control over the execution of that move than ever before.
For example, by pushing up on the right analog, you can pick up your opponent and set him up for a suplex. By holding the stick forward, you can keep your opponent up in the air and even walk with him around the ring for a little showboating. Only when you let go of the stick will you drop your opponent back down on the mat. Similarly, you can use the right analog stick to perform airplane spins on opponents you've picked up, or even interact with various interactive hot spots found in the wrestling environment, such as pushing back and forth on the stick to ram your opponent's head into the ring post.
ooooooh...

in the video the models actually looked really good, much better than the still pics. The animation and collision detection are still horrible though.

lol. You are so going to get it handed to you online if you get this game. You. Me. Wrestlemania!

Deal.
If I get the game?
I buy every wrestling title...good or bad.
I got burned majorly by Wrestlemania 21 though.

It looks pretty good, but I'm really not expecting much from gameplay. I don't want a sim or anything, but I want something that plays at a reasonable pace, and not lightning quick.

Bwargh...I'm gonna end up shelling $60 regardless. :P

CAW and making all your friends and then having them come over to play with them has become a past-time at my place. We put hundreds of hours into RAW 2 for this reason alone. So quality won't have much to do with it.

I played the last two SDvsR games and they have to make the Hell in a Cell ring (as well as the Chamber) look better. The counter system could be tweaked, for some reason the Cube feels better when you counter a move. I can't wait for PS3's online service, then players around the world will smmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllll . . . .
