PS4 5 Big Takeaways [GT Needs a show with this guy]

I stopped at the middle of it cause it's funny but the guy is full of shit..

He's complaining about content and not enough new games etc.. and his favorite part of the show was the MM nonsensical casual shit that was a vague concept with nothing behind ? lol...

And he's saying things as "yeah i don't want to play watch dogs on PS4 with marginally better graphics when i can already have it on PS3 and it looks pretty good"...

Except did he see Watch Dogs on PS3 ? Nobody saw it. Did he see Watch dogs on PS4 with direct feed or on the console itself ? Nobody saw it. Watch dogs is the exact kind of game with giant maps and fulls of interactions everywhere that will be massively downgraded for current gen consoles, cause that's just too much for them. It's been known from the down of time that transitional games between generations are killers for the old consoles cause they are just pushing them to death. Did he see Crysis 3 on current gen consoles ?

Anyway, and he's not Louie CK.

I can see some of his points, but on the whole I thought it was just sloppy cynicism that actually stands up to very little scrutiny.

First and foremost there are several games-industry shows between now and holiday 2013; so expecting a comprehensive blow-out at this point was just foolishness from the start. It was basically an announcement of intent; there will be very many opportunities to expound upon specifics, and make new reveals, between now and then.

If PS4 was launching in a pre-E3 window I could understand this criticism, but its not.

Second; of course there's going to be a large amount of crossover at the start of the generation; but obviously if you want the premium version of these titles you'll need to upgrade to the new hardware. And people upgrade smartphones, tablets, pc's (and components like video cards) etc. All the time in order to improve their experience. Its not such a radical thought!

And again it presupposes that PS4 won't have other appeal based on general system capabilities and functionalities.

One last thing: I'm glad Sony led off with Knack. It makes a nice change from the endless array of muscle-bound dudes with guns that are the mainstay of games these days. I also like the fact that they are willing to push a character mascot front and centre; its a nice link with what is in danger of becoming a forgotten tradition.

You completely missed the points he was making, I would suggest keeping a open mind and try watching it again.

Same with you.

Well let's say i'm reacting to his arguments. I didn't see the whole thing so i'm not sure of the general sense. But the thing is he's poking fun at things for the sake of the funny but he's wrong on particular points.

You're on point Orioto, but I think the guy was obviously fishing for comedic content, so since he did not say anything outright "false", I can give him a pass.

One point I think he missed was the 8GB GDDR5 thing, which could have provided some nice material.

Takeway 3: "Sony is still fucking insane"

Oh and this:

Anyway, and he's not Louie CK.

is just not fair dude. It's like going up to a high schooler who just has a nice pickup basketball game and saying "yeah, but you're no Jordan"

Guy seems nice and genuine. More importantly he's funny, entertaining, and makes good points. His video bits are the best thing on GT right now, if not the best thing in all of videya gamz media.

I agree with him that the PS4 wasn't ready to be shown.

It was ready. Now we know it is coming they have more time for other announcements. And they won't get overshadowed by a reveal.

I can see some of his points, but on the whole I thought it was just sloppy cynicism that actually stands up to very little scrutiny.

Well also he remembered that knack was exclusive but forgot about Killzone shadow fall and Infamous second son. I doubt those will grace the PS3 either. But I just took it as him trying to be funny.

Lol this guy is awesome. A bit too negative but really fun. Way better than their other shows. Hope they give him a regular show, can't wait to see this guy talking about Kinect 2 or WiiU sales in the future.

Regarding Knack, I think it's going to be a great mascot game for the kids. Something that is ok for me, Sony always made content for everybody and I prefer a game like this and something form Media Molecule for the kids more than a dumbed down casual thing. For you don't worry, you'll have a lot of shooters, racing games, adventures, sports and indie games.

More too cool for school negativity with a dollop of cynicism. I have no idea why gaming journalists cover games because it is obvious they hate gaming.

I wasn't really aware of the fact that many PS4 titles are also going to be available on PS3 - I mean, so far it's just a bunch of hardware specs, some software info, and mostly CG for games along with some gameplay, so I haven't really paid much attention.

However, past consoles have almost always immediately made prior consoles obsolete, and for good reason I assume.

First they have to run a major expensive marketing campaign to inform the public about the new system and available games, then back it up with the games and support.

But if the video games are already available on a console you already own, why would anyone but the most hardcore game upgrade?

Then, I assume they will eventually make PS4 only games -- but the point of "launch titles" is to concurrently market the new console with new titles only available on that console, because the point is to incentivize as many people as possible as quickly as possible, cause they need to get units installed as fast as possible.

But some of the responsibility falls on publishers as well -- they need to advertise that their games are only available on PS4, not PS3 or PS4.

Exclusive titles are important, I think -- reaching a high install base as quickly as possible, and maintaining the new hotness is very important.

The eventual, new PS4 only titles won't have the benefit of a major launch campaign, or half the word of mouth/mindshare of a launch console.

So, it will most likely lose a decent amount of sales at first, and considering the smaller install base, it will be much harder to make money on the software sales>new titles cycle.

This guy is very good. He nails it most of the time.

And Nate Fox will probably never go up on stage at another conference ever again. Not if he is capable of reading and has access to message boards.

He had very solid points. I dont think Sony was ready but I think they had to throw in something and this was SOMETHING. Its called compition and you need to be aggressive in that industry. He was pretty funny as well. I think come E3 we will know a bunch more information that we wanted to know and I dont think that will be all from Sony either.
I think Sony will have another smaller conference before launch to talk all about launch line up more features just to get you pumped up for November. If they give it all at E3 from June to November you will be lost and maybe start to forget that Sony talked about PS4. So they're gonna push games games games at E3 they will show you want the console looks like and they will leave the price and launch date and launch line up for the next conference.

I mean the guy is ok, the content joke and knack bit towards the end gave me a chuckle, but overall, I dont believe he understood the purpose of Sony doing what they did. Right now a lot of information which we recently speculated/debated on are now known, we no longer have to argue about PS4 specs, we know them and they're impressive.

The onus is now on MS to give us some specs for us to officially compare. As for Sony, we know the games will be there, largely due to it's top devs at SCEWWS and also it's vast third party support.

I'm of the opinion that by the time E3 renders itself, games like Killzone Shadowfall, and all other games shown will look even more impressive due to the additional ram. Textures, framerate, lighting, draw distance, particle effects and of course IQ (AA and AF in particular) can all go up based on the additional 4Gbs of GDDR5, so there's even additional wow power to be had based on the games already shown, coupled that with some of the other big Sony Devs who could not show anything due to them having big games coming up (SSM with GOW-A and ND with TLOU.

Personally, I think this presentation was to kinda one-up Ms in the mindshare department, even he conceded that everybody is now talking about PS4, and that was the whole point. People know for a fact that the PS4 is real and that games are being developed for it, this is certainly more concrete in any one's mind as opposed to various leaks about hardware and whatever secret sauces which may or may not exist.

I'm more impressed by the announcement of 8gigs of GDDr5 as opposed to me seeing the PS4 box, I think some gamers who just wanted to see the box are missing the point, we will see the box at E3, it didnt make any sense to show it this early, but there's no way, not showing the box meant that Sony was not ready to reveal the console, essentially a console is it's specs and we got that.

He kinda joked about David Perry's BC statements, somehow I believe Perry may be further along with BC than he alluded to. There is also no reason why Sony should play that hand so early, if MS comes and says no bc, but then Sony announces that Perry was able to get most of the PS3/PS2/PS1 catalog running through gaikai tech in the iterim to E3, then that announcement would serve as a bigger blow to the competiton (MS).

I am very much content on what was shown, but I have also noted that all the things that we want to see and hear more of is better off closer to the hardware launch. Also, in as much as I laughed at the knack joke at the end, why all the sarcasm towards it? I can never understand why so many feel that all games should be blockbuster, huge budget games. Knack looks like it could be a fun platformer, I was also impressed by it's particle effects, some textures (like the screws on one of the characters jackets, metal and iron looks really good from what I've seen) and of course the anti-aliasing was superb, not a jaggie in site.

Completely Disagree with what he said about Media Molecule. Love those guys, but nobody will play that stuff, especially with a move controller.

Also Killzone and drive club won't be on ps3. Forget about it.

Funny stuff, but don't see how most of his points are "spot on". Especially the cross gen stuff, now all of a sudden next gen Watch_Dogs, Destiny, or possibly GTAV is a bad thing? As a day 1 buyer i would hope for more cross gen ports not less.

This was genuinely entertaining... GT needs to produce more stuff like this and a lot less of their other junk content. Give him a "weekly wipe" style series and I'd watch every week (or bi-weekly)

Yeah, Madden and Fifa 12 were still available on PS2. Don't get the rant about cross gen games. I'm not going to feel bad about others playing inferior versions of the same game if I'm playing the superior version.

I liked the video and enjoyed his presentation regardless of the...content.

Glad he got positive response from his first video to be allowed do a second.

Does this guy have a name?

Yeah yeah, I know there's that "Kyle Bosman" thing, but nobody is calling him that. They're calling him "this dude" or "this guy".

If he's going to be a recurring feature, he needs something snappy.

Snappy Gamer, boom.

You can attach any adjective to Gamer and it will sound legit.

I like it because he is negative about everything, that means its true. If he was overly positive than he'd just be a dumbass and paid off by sony.

Kyle Boss Man.

Gametrailers, where is my paycheck?

You mean this event only was to establish a foothold on mindshares of gamers/consumers? And that E3 is going to be where they fire all guns when they're directly competing with their main competitor on the same day/event?! Crazy.

I'd like to say that Cerny looked like he was having the time of his life on stage. Or he ate a bunch of shrooms. Maybe both?

More Cerny please from here on out Sony. I can only imagine a stage with him, Tretton, and "Kevin Butler" talking together.

I was thinking the same thing. When he said thank you and everyone started to applause he had this look on his face like "I will now sacrifice my soul to the goblin people." He looked terrified lol.
