PS4 firmware 4.50 add Boost Mode for PS4 Pro.

Not boost related, but just watched a movie in 3D via PSVR... game changer, experience puts my 3Dtv to shame.
Also, my UK ps4 is happily playing Japanese DVD's and Blu-rays.. what?

It could be that beta firmwares don't have a region lock ... that's something to try out tonight ..

Your 3DTV must be very poor. On my LG 55LF6529 (passive 3D, 1080p) the picture still is sharper and way more comfortable because of less weight on my head. The 3D effect is equally good.
What type 3D are sonys psvr headsets displaying? Can't imagine a headset being worst then passive 3d on a TV

Japan DVD's are Region 2, same as PAL.
Blu-Ray are different, maybe you tried a region free Blu-Ray?.

Tried several different japanese blu-ray disks, Prometheus, Bourne trilogy, Inception and a couple others, all worked.

LG 65UH8500

Most blu-rays are region free anyway and Japanese DVD's are region 2 just like UK, so perfectly normal.
Possibly, my old ps4-novice was a US import.

Tried one of my Citerion blu-rays on my UK PS4 and I just got the standard region locked message. It would have been handy but I don't see it being something that Sony would ever support on the PS4.

True 3D as in each eye gets its own image without using any filters.

Can't imagine a headset being worst then passive 3d on a TV
It's basically simple math. The virtual display only fills part of the view, and each eye gets at best only half of 960 * 1080. But, I'd estimate the movie image fills only two thirds of that, maybe less.

With passive 3D, each eye gets the full half of 1920 * 540 for the movie.

No Boost Mode in PlayStation 4 Firmware 4.50;

Features 8TB External HDD & PSVR Blu-Ray Support Instead
from Mobile & Apps 10 hours ago

PlayStation 4 owners who were able to test the beta firmware might be heartbroken after the final for firmware 4.50 had the Boost Mode removed. This feature already received a nickname "Beast Mode" and is supposedly the single most-anticipated feature that has direct impact over gaming performance. PlayStation 4 firmware 4.50 originally included the Boost Mode in beta to enhance framerate.

This article is based on a (ridiculous) misunderstanding of their source, and is therefore completely false.

That story is basing this news on PlayStation Universe saying this, but they didn't say it if I try to follow the stories sources...

That's bullshit.
Read the source

Maybe they're undecided on whether to include this before the Switch or just before the Scorpio. Of course though, it's damn silly to even think things like this.

Long shot I know, but I have a ps4 pro, and if anyone had a spare beta code, I would love to try out these enhancements. But either way. I cannot wait for this firmware, my 2TB hdd has room for about one or two more games on it! Lol, this firmware better be out in time for mass effect and horizon!

I've recorded the videos, and am editing and rendering them as I type. They'll be uploaded later tonight. The only game that I didn't record was Until Dawn, which I forgot to download.

They either misunderstood the source or this is a satire article that links to real sources in hopes nobody would read those.

This website misunderstood what their source said:

"Oddly absent though from the official list of features for firmware 4.50, was the true megaton for PS4 Pro owners; a togglable setting called "Boost Mode" which enhances the framerate of games that haven't had the good fortune to be graced with a bespoke PS4 Pro patch."

Ignore that post, they have no idea what they're talking about. It's on a game by game basis and some are boosted better than others. I tested resident evil revelations and there is a certain part on ps4 where it drops down to 30fps throughout an area pretty much but on beast mode it holds a solid 60 without a hitch.

thanks man

I hope sony includes this feature in the real patch

Website newsxbox360. Likely troll clickbait

I can't believe some people are so beholden to their platform of choice that they want to sabotage the competition by writing fake news. What a tragically sad waste of time.

News360.com reporting that a new feature in an upcoming final PS4 firmware update which will further drive Pro sales to kick MS's ass further has been removed.....sounds 100% legit to me.

I don't believe for one second that Sony would be clever enough to add this feature then dumb enough to take it away - there would be uproar!

So is there a list by now? The thread is growing enormous and the OP stopped updating.

Should we start a Google Drive spreadsheet for everyone to contribute?

It's not overclocking, it's allowing PS4 games without a Pro patch to use 100% of the new hardware capacity rather than running in a "PS4 mode".

I don't think it's been confirmed if it's using 100% of the Pro's hardware. Sony just said it allows the games to use the extra clock speed of the CPU + GPU, so it might not be using all of the extra GPU's CU's, just the speed increase (2.1GHz CPU and 911MHz GPU) So in a way, it could be just like overclocking.

I guess we might find out more when DF and NX are allowed to post any videos on the matter.

Why is it so hard for people to grasp the concept that boost mode will only work on titles that have not had a Pro patch released for it? It really is quite simple to understand; the majority of pre-Pro games will work in boost mode, and ALL post-Pro games will not work with it as they are already upgraded to make the most of the Pro.
