Can we get a thread that very loudly exclaims that "BOOST MODE DOESN'T OVERCLOCK THE PRO OR INCREASE FRAMERATES IN PRO-SUPPORTED GAMES"?
Only partially kidding, because there's a lot of people not using their brains, here. The description of the feature itself makes it clear that it's only for games that were released before the Pro was even a consideration.
Why do a lot of people get upset when people jokingly refer to it as 'Beast' mode? I think it's a dumb, funny name, why would anyone get salty over that lol. It's childishness makes it hilarious to me.
I did this morning. Get into the light.I hadn't planned on getting a PS4 Pro since I don't have a 4K TV yet...but wow, I think this does it for me.

Recorded 30 mins of Just Cause 3 with boost enabled. It runs SO much better.
I still can't get over how much better the game looks and runs in Boost Mode.
I can do one for you tomorrow, just need to redownload it.Kicking myself now for not buying it cheap earlier.
Are there any Far Cry 4 beast mode vids

Just bought a PS4 Pro after this news.
I was going to get another PS4 anyway for my sister, but after hearing all the good stuff about the Pro, i just bought that, and i'm gonna give her my other one.
I'm still quite amazed how this one feature has suddenly made PS4 Pro so popular but Sony clearly made the right choice to allow performance to be boosted on older games too, along with external HDD support.
All we need now is for Sony to fully embrace PS1 and PS2 classics, then PS4 / PS4 Pro will be as near perfect as a console can be.
720p is more than enough. Especially a set that takes 1080p signal and downscales it.
That would be heavenly. But we know that won't happen because moneyYou'd think it would make them more money buying the current consoles now as opposed to a few remastered digital retro versions.
This probably being asked, but Witcher 3 finally playable?
So just to confirm, this is real? I see on Page 1 someone mentioned OP should have added rumor, but if there are 87 pages, and videos in the OP, I am assuming it has been confirmed 100% real?
If so, fucking awesome.

Since I missed the beta I tried my Google luck for when the 4.50 is scheduled to be released officially, but only found "later this year" from reputable sources. Do we know how long it usually takes for betas to go live? Sorry if already asked.![]()
As said Witcher 3 with the latest patch is already playable on base PS4.This probably being asked, but Witcher 3 finally playable?
Sharpening seems fine here, maybe check the post-processing options in the game settingsI chucked on Witcher 3 last night and had to download a couple of updates.
Now it runs really smoothly, but the sharpening is very intense. Don't know if CDPR added this in a later update.
Just thinking, this Boost Mode is fantastic, but obviously it's held back in some respects because no devs knew it was going to exist and never programmed their games for it, so the differences can vary dramatically from game to game from no difference to significant ones.
I'm liking the concept of the Pro more and more now and I hope this is something copied with the eventual PS5. Except: Make it known, even if only to devs, that this is going to happen, let them design their games to be able to effectively take advantage of extra power down the line. It should just be in the DNA of the PlayStation from now on.
It is sort of taking console gaming yet closer to PC gaming.. but I feel we still keep the benefits that consoles bring, so long as the games are designed diligently enough not to screw up when they get taken forward onto the next updated version of the platform. It's nice having that premium experience for those who want console simplicity but also don't wanted be limited to what is the most consumer friendly price point for the base system. It's still more powerful and impressive than whatever you could build for the same price in the PC world. It really is incredible value to be honest.

I do agree that small-scale games are definite candidates not to have major improvements on Pro. But keep in mind there's a difference between "Pro support" and "major improvements". Even some games with immense resources behind them, like The Division and Overwatch, have implemented Pro support that barely alters their performance profile. It's quite possible that Sony mandates Pro support now, but not in the sense of requiring specific improvements over the standard PS4. Such support would probably not be easily visible in small-scale games, which as you agree are basically not tested by anyone anyway. To be honest, I could be talking out of my arse, but outside of the initial leaked slides, Sony never communicated any Pro requirements for newer games. I can not guarantee on any of the following games, since I'm not willing to buy them myself, but I don't believe games like Skylight Freerange, Her Majesty's Spiffing, and Knee Deep have Pro support. But giving these are all lower (or lowest) tier digital titles, perhaps there is more leeway for that category.
Any Persona 5 video or boost impressions out there?
All the devs would have to do is make and uncapped framerate option. as long as the physics or something like that isn't tied to framerate then it should be an easy patch.
Won't it have pro support anyway?
They reduced a lot of the alpha effects down there to fix the framerate issues on the PS4 in one of the patches, maybe that's what you're seeing? The trees in Crooks Bog are oddly sharp. Frame-rate is pretty good.
It was releasing in Japan in September before the Pro's release. And given Yakuza didn't get a Pro patch (also an older game released in Japan first that just got released here) I doubt Persona 5 will get one when it releases here. Would be nice though.Won't it have pro support anyway?
This. And since it won't be seeing a Pro update some Japaneses gaffers (or ones that imported it) could tell us if the game benefits fromm the boost mode. (loading screens or even more stable framerate if the game had some dips with i don't really think it being a PS3 port had.)It was releasing in Japan in September before the Pro's release. Did anyone test out a batch of Omega Force games? They tend to unlocked framerates and I'm interested in seeing performance reports for Arslan, Dragon Quest Heroes, Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi 3 or DW8XL.
Gonna do it for sure. Spent the evening packing up my launch Xbone and launch PS4 to sell. They're off to UPS tomorrow, then I'm ordering a Pro.I did this morning. Get into the light.
