...can't you just enable that yourself on the Twtich website?
It's a beta test. You have to opt in so I don't understand being irked by it. It probably lets them roll out the updates more quickly hence the larger testing base. Pretty smart in my opinion.

Yeah, it's not like Microsoft has ever made a big deal about their OS updates before. This is totally new behavior for them! They never made an event out of the NXE last gen, and they never said a word about their annual updates they did twice a year. Nope, none of that ever happened in this new reality you've created for yourself.
Likewise, Sony isn't acting like they always have with adding features to the PS4. No, things never played out like this with the PS3. They were always quick with the updates when PS3 sales were in the tank. They're just being slow now because sales are so good. They don't need good news. There is almost too much good news right now, again, in this reality you've created for yourself.

Mine is doing PCM, the avr is showing all channels playing and it is surround, so your saying netflix is doing a dolbyprologic on its own?

I'm testing this when I get home. I'm running 7.1 and my receiver is showing multi-channel. I just haven't listened for it. I have my settings set to linear PCM.

If you set your system to Bitstream DTS or Dolby it will give you Dolby in Netflix, oddly enough. At least that was my experience.

That said, it's great to see they're rolling out stuff that people have apparently been asking for. I'll be looking forward to the suspend feature when that's finally ready, and if light bar dimming is included in 1.7 then I'll be happy

I love my PS4, much more than my X1 but Sony has really dropped the ball with adding features and patches.

Did sony announce this update prematurely? Since november what have they been doing? Honestly we have to credit MS for announcing updates and the eta and then release it.

Why age people defending Sony with the it's only 4.5 months? Open your eyes. Ms has done a lot. All waiting for mp3, video, improved audio on netflix for those asking. Friend notification??? Or the friendlist to have followers. Ps4 going into sleep mode like the vita, external hard drive, dlna. These are the things off the top of my head. And I know there are a lot. And these things can easily be done. The only thing they have us is head phones.

YouTube upload support, a replacement for the bd remote, and the promised game resume feature should already be there.
All of this and a stable YouTube app that could save me from leanback eating the data on my PS4
Noticed this playing anchorman 2 on ps4. Played and synced fine on ps3
I really hope all the features the Vita has ps4 gets. Sleep mode in particular and friends notification when they log on

Friend notification and screenshot capability are the only things the Xbox needs to move beyond the 'those features should be there at launch' argument. Friends notification definitely should have been there.
But what's the rush? just cause the competitor is getting stuff out the door?
I thought it was made obvious last gen that Sony isn't a software specialist

I agree on the resume feature though, that should be top priority since they were
championing it the most.
Maybe because the bone os was more of a mess and the fact they are getting stomped by Sony so they had to do something. Is it vital you stream movies from your PC right now?
I'd be more pissed if no games were coming out. Ps4 has just launched and plays games fine.
Bones party system sounded like a mess, of course they needed to react. You don't drop this amount of money on a console to watch Netflix or steam media.

I don't think anyone is mad Sony hasn't added anything in 4.5 months. People are mad because they haven't added features that existed on PS3 in 2006. And some features, like dimming the lightbar on the controller? How could that possibly take more than a few hours of engineering work? Yet they announced that it would come in a "future update," whatever that means. MP3 support, DLNA....things already exist for Sony to slot these features right into the OS, and yet it's taking them forever. This is on top of the fact that they already have experience with this stuff! They've already done it before!

That's further evidence that I think there's something blocking Sony from using a simple free use upload api possibly like they did with PS3 games that had YouTube upload capability.
My only theory is that YouTube is requiring something or Sony requires companies make their own apps? And MS is sidestepping the issue due to how their apps system works?

In all fairness PS4 parties weren't without hitch with the nat issue no so long after launch. I do feel MS has a bit more pressure than Sony hence the prompt updates etc, but I'd rather Sony take their time & get it right whilst the pressure's off than push shit out with issues etc, a eta or two wouldn't go a miss though either.

It's annoying and dumb, but it's true. I'm not sure why, but Netflix will only output surround sound in Bitstream. I just hope this isn't lowering the quality of game audio or anything.
