PS4 Pro + OLED makes me hesitate picking PC for multiplatform titles

Considering I'd be giving up 60fps+ gaming, higher image quality, better effects, no loading, potential modding, and all around better experience just for HDR, I just couldn't do it.

I buy it depending on price, mood, port quality and whatever ... sometimes I get the console version even if I know the PC version is better. For example RotTR. Why? I'm a crazy person with little disclipine when it comes impulse buying (when it comes to games). But I don't think this will help you -.-

For all those people saying he'd lose out on HDR, just a reminder that a game has to support HDR on PS4 Pro for the effect to be there: it's not a blanket thing that many games actually have yet.

I'm a comfy couch gamer on PC and it's a great experience. Mostly it was out of necessity since my 4k TV is only 40" and I read that to get the full benefit of that it needs to be around 3.5 to 4 feet away max.

I can totally see the appeal here. HDR is great. I love Shadow Warrior 2 in general, it's an amazing game. The HDR feature is just the icing on the cake. It really does look great and I hope it's a trending feature on PC in 2017.

It's one of the reasons I'm so looking forwards to Resident Evil 7.

No comfy couch support though. That's what you get for coding to the metal.

Jokes aside, PC games need to get HDR support sorted out. Hopefully the PS4 Pro is a good starting point.
I guess it's Microsoft's fault in some way. Nvidia already has an implementation (which is used in Shadow Warrior 2, Obduction and maybe other titles I don't know about) ready but I can see why devs don't really want to go the extra mile.
I'm sure support will be there once MS pushes the Creators Update early next year to consumers. Resident Evil 7 is confirmed to support it on Windows and I think it will be the MS implementation as there is no Nvidia deal with Capcom that I know of. So yah

HDR does not work for PC games as far as I know. At least that was my impression. That said I don't think HDR outweighs other PC advantages. OLED can always be connected to the PC so HDR is the only kicker here.
Of course it works, as long as devs implement it. The exact way it works on PS4.

For me, PS4 Pro + large (60"+) OLED.

Comfy couch gaming is my preference.

Technology has advanced to the point that you can hook up a PC to a OLED or any large screen TV. They even make these fancy futuristic wireless keyboards and mice to use when gaming on a PC connected to a TV. So you can have Comfy couch gaming with actual good Image Quality and better shadows, draw distance, texture resolution, performance etc. It is scary how tech has advanced so much!!!

:)

Controller Companion is 2 dollars and is like an amazing way to have your mice + keyboard in your gamepad.

While I haven't seen proper HDR games or movies, HDR photography looks like shit nearly every time. If games are similar I don't think it's anywhere close to being worth the performance and compatibility trade-off to go with a console version.

PC is always better OP. You call that rig "decent", i call it overpowered. I don't know what you would call a normal rig

But seriously guys, don't buy wireless keyboards and mice. They're all shit products. Just use a controller, Steam supports Dualshock 4 natively.

I wouldn't want to put a huge Desktop PC in my gaming setup. So I can understand why others wouldn't.

It isn't that bad

We just had a thread like this. That thread was a dumpster fire, so let's not do this.
