PS5 Owners - Are You Going Mostly Digital?

I own physical editions of Demon's Souls, Godfall (lul), and Miles. I guess I own Spidey Remastered digitally but that's by default.

I will continue to buy physical when able unless there's a big digital sale.

As I've got a DigitaI PS5, I don't have much choice 😁

Dont need extra stuff cluttering my house anymore, so I'm all in board.

Nope, only buy digital if it is a GaaS type game that I don't want to remove and insert over and over again, or a good deal (Which is rare these days on the network)

Hell no, i get Nintendo first party games day one physical for $50,why would i limit myself to DigitalOnly PlayStation

Nope, I'll buy Indie games digital, but if I can I love going inside Walmart/target an buy a copy, chat with the workers. Met some really cool people doing that.

I can't.

Too many games, not enough space, prohibitive prices on expansion storage currently, no control over patches if you buy digital, download speeds are too slow, zero resale on digital (though I don't really sell my games).

If PS6 is backwards compatible, then I have to buy that disc as well because most of my PS4 games are physical and my PS5 games will be the same.

I didn't plan on it, but the download speeds are so quick compared to the PS4, that I have bought Spider-Man MM, Spider-Man Remastered, and Demons Souls all digital.

I never thought I would go all digital, but I think I'll stay with it that way.

I mean I'm all digital on my PC already, so not really a big step.

After being physical the past two generations, the accumulation of games taking up space, and the faster load times of the PS5 SSD I'm thinking of going mainly digital this generation, using the disc version only for my physical PS4 games.

Anyone else thinking of doing the same thing?
No. Not when it's reported physical takes up less room on the SSD. Storage is at a premium.

No thanks, and for people who say they are too lazy to swap discs now. I'd hate to see what other simple things in life you're too lazy to do.

I don't plan on ever buying discs again. I stopped buying them a year into PS4's lifetime. They're just clutter and they pretty much always contain the worst version of the game with the least amount of content. Let me pop in a disc and install a game that still takes hours to download patches for because of course that's how it works. There's no point for me.

100% digital on PS5 and XSX but still buy Switch carts as I just think they are neat. I maybe would still buy discs if games didn't all seem to get a 20gb patch day one these days. Seems like playing a disc in the future if XBL and PSN are ever killed will not be a good experience.

Gone are the days where you can have rooms full of cartridges that play the same as the day you bought them.

Will continue to go physical for the foreseeable future.

Just made $600 selling old Xbox One games, which basically funded my entry into next gen. I also do leg exercises on the regular, so getting up and walking to my console to switch a disc doesn't incapacitate me.

No. Physical still on average £10 cheaper than digital.

Your not going to get rid of brick and mortar shops selling games so that old chestnut of digital prices will be cheaper once discs stop being sold is a load of bollocks.

Got Valhalla for PS5 for £49.95. Base digital is £60.

Nope! Last gen I was all digital but this gen I'm definitely waiting for $70 games to go on sale and returning them for credit after they're complete

Thats been debunked now mate. My Valhalla install says 16 gig installed for the game but there is a whopping 39 gig in my 'other' folder on PS5. Nothing else is installed on the console.

All digital gamers, just curious: do you not sometimes regret your purchases? You could drop £50 on a game, play it for a couple of weeks and realise it's not for you. You're then stuck with it. Are you just more careful with what you buy or just take the hit if it happens? To my knowledge, there's no refund period on PSN?

yes. the ps5 bluray console is louder and looks worse. i have digital console.

i will get some disks if sony release an external Blu-ray drive for the ps5 digital

yep. just an example this past week is demon's souls. im never gonna beat it. good thing though is that i gameshare, so i use it as leverage anyways ill be like "i just bought this game, now u buy this other game."

It's life. I can always make that 70 bucks back. sony rly need to get a refund policy going or allow for game trading.

in fact, they used to sell digital download codes, why don't they do that anymore?

Oh, sorry to hear that. It's a great game, though very tough at times. I really struggled with it back in 2009 at first. Try and stick with it, though. Maybe watch some gameplay tips and vids on YouTube to see how others deal with similar situations.

All digital but I do have the disc version since it was the only one I could secure. I turn the PS5 just right to where I can't see the grotesque hump.

I'll get around to it. I'm probably gonna restart and follow the magic guide or whatever. I think the game is pretty and I got 6 hours in until I got stuck. It's a good showcase for next gen though I think miles morales edges it a little due to ray tracing

Seriously though, I can't play these old ass ps4 games anymore. Hopefully Sony release an external blu-ray drive for the ps5 digital edition so I play god of war at full 4k 60fps since the lazy at developers Sony Santa Monica won't patch it in themselves and it's only in the un-patched version.

I mean seriously? How hard can it be? The version existed out there. Man I have to say it's pretty lame or weird how the lesser PlayStation exclusives like days gone or ghost of tsushima got the fps and resolution patch treatment but the actual goty winners don't. So puzzling to me. Whatever I guess. Let's hope they release patches or an external blu-ray drive

I only buy digital if it is severely reduced, or if I have no other chance.
AC Valhalla i bought digital since we are in lockdown and i didnt want to wait for a delivery.

I have the disc version but all of my games are digital.

Demon's souls
NBA 2k21
Watch Dogs
Assassin's creed Valhalla
Call of duty cold war

For me it comes down to choice and price.

I'll buy the game wherever it is the best value and if I care about reselling it or not.

Some PSN plus sales are quite good these days.

All digital again, for me. Physical media is not great for an expat. I need to be able to travel light, should the need arise.

Ive collected physical media since the 80's I have a game collection over over 3000. This is the generation I am going all digital. I may even go back and get rid of some XBOX PS4 discs when the digital version goes on sale. Space is becoming a concern, a lot of games are broken on disc without patching and games as a service is on the rise. I think its time.

I very rarely buy games brand new unless it's a game I know I will enjoy. This year the only games I've bought brand new are Last of Us 2 and Demon Souls. Otherwise I usually wait for a digital sale when I can pick up games for half price. Sometimes you can get a bit burnt but at the end of the day we're not talking about crazy amounts of money, usually the same as a few rounds of beer.
