If all of this is true and sales are dropping off across the board I fear for the state of the entire industry.
Could have a big impact on games as if there is no growth, they will try harder to extract funds from the existing base.

I think, given his history, it's fairly evident why Tom is so bad at this. That's why I like that stuff like this is posted here. People chime in and the actual facts become evident.
Frankly, imo, Tom is at a similar level to Jez in terms of how sincere and/or neutral he is. Not someone to take seriously, really.

Sony got short term lucky with PS5. Covid economy and Xbox Series disaster gave them a free pass. The only game in town for 2K, COD and GTA in some ways. It's going to prevent them from learning important lessons for PS6 I fear. You can see it a bit with how they're managing the first party software. Killing Concord the way they did, doubling down on Marathon and today, while you and I were at work. there were also 800 people working on full time game dev salaries on Fairgame$. Even the creator of the game and studio got wise enough to leave, but Sony is still signing those payroll checks. It boggles the mind.
They need to gut Bungie. Only keep the studio name because it holds value as an IP. Staff it with vets from Santa Monica, GG and Insomniac. Surely there's some GG guys who would love to make a regular FPS unless they've all left already.
Take a more firm hand with Naughty Dog. You can't let those guys do whatever they want. Sony should be ordering surefire hits from them, not giving them a quarter billy to explore their artistic interests. Uncharted 5, TLOU 3 or GTFO.

That's the thing. Consoles were always affordable. There's a lot of people out there that would gladly buy a PS5. Last fall showed us that. PS5 shipped like 8M consoles or something like that. It's not like interest just vanished this year. People want them...just not at these prices that's all.
That's...brave when one console is stuck at 30M consoles sold and the other one is at near 100M lmao. The past few years must've been hard as fuck for both Tom and Jez...can they take another generation losing?
