I'm good then as my shelves are just a smidge under 18 inches (45cm) wide. I may still take the doors off and paint the inside glass blacks so the bright white isn't showing through the semi-opaque glass part of the doors. The SNES classic showing through on the other side already triggers my OCD a little. The PS4, Tivo, Apple TV etc. are all black and don't show since the stand is all black other than the frosted glass part of the doors.

Take in mind that 40cm is max I think it can be based in these photos... it is probably around 38cm if I have to choose a more exactly number.

The vertical comparisons are including the dock... something that won't add to the width if horizontal... it will add to heigh but it is comfortable less than 10cm even including the dock (most hacks have 10cm height spaces).

It looks smaller than Xbox Series X even if you use 25cm as profundity.

If you have to remove the top shelf, as you mention, it won't be that big of a deal, instead of the two horizontal consoles you have now, you will have two vertical consoles, so no real issue. If one of the upcoming consoles was vertical and the other horizontal, then you might have a tougher time.

Using the disc drive as a point of reference, we've estimated the size of the PS5 – and it's quite large.

IGN has an article where they give estimated dimensions. Quickly Googling their numbers, the PS5 would be around 9 Liters to the Xbox's 7.05 Liters.

550 cubic inches vs 430 cubic inches if my basic math skills are up to par.

That means the XSX is roughly 80% of the size of the PS5, in terms of overall footprint volume.

XSX is wider in front, but much shorter and is shaped like a cube, meaning its much smaller on the sides as well. PS5 is much taller and wider on the sides. Think of the echo chrome designs

From the front, PS5 is the tallest console ever. While the Xbox Series X is the widest, fattest, console. From 3/4 angle, the Series X is the most "fridge" like of the consoles, while the PS5, at 3/4 angle, is the sexiest

Overall size, the PS3 is the largest console ever. I believe you're able to grill 8 beef patties at the same time on that thing.

I actually think it's going to age well because of it's simple, elegant design. There's not much fat on it. The "collars" might be a bit much but that's minor. I don't know, I think it looks very natural. I officially love it.

The size may be another story. I'll have to see how it fits next to everything in person.

40 seems about right (without stand) but the 20cm? The XSX is 30 x 18 x 18. The limited side on views are deceptive but from my perspective analysis the PS5 will be closer to 40 x 25 x 6 (with the disc)

But maybe it'll be fine to exist down below on the small stool I have my PS4 Pro and Switch sitting on I haven't decided yet. Either will suffice.

Still. I love this white on black look and both the console and controller have me firmly within their grasp.

When I compare it to the ugly three-layered sandwich that is the PS4 Pro I cannot wait for this to take its place. I really like the Xbox SX as well. That double Gamecube mmmmf.

No way is the PS4 Pro that much smaller than the Phat. The series X looks suspiciously small too. Love to know who actually made this picture? Could be the Xbox equivalent of Chad Warden for all we know. Rather wait and see for myself than go off some Reddit post whipped up 5 minutes after the demo. They've also included the stand in the picture to aid the optical illusion. The stand isn't the console.
