I'm just saying that size and power don't have to be directly correlated 1:1. XOX, XOS, and PS4 pro are all one the same nm process, but the most powerful one was smallest.

I'll put it this way, in my opinion, no one complaining about EITHER console would let its size dissuade them from purchasing if they really wanted one.

no, both are terrible for a living room, but ps5 is bigger and more noticeable.
My living is already full of electronic devices, i dont need each of them to be a diva. Itd look like a circus.
A good example is Alexa; its there, it merges on the room and its passes pretty much unnoticeable. Same for my MBP. Thats the ideal.

What's with the alarming amount of people in here being told what they can and cant purchase by their wives? My wife and I have a partnership. I dont bitch at her when she buys something I dont like and she doesnt bitch at me. We like for each other to have things we enjoy. I'd hate to have chosen a life partner that I have to screen all my purchases through.
It's a 500 dollar purchase not a life changing decision. I cant imagine a reality in which my wife would complain over such a thing. Sorry for all of you that are in those types of marriages though. I do understand that we all make choices we have to live with

Yep i don't question my wife's hair tool purchases and she does not question the electronics by me. I am not dumb either and run wild but with millions out of work i can understand if 500 now is a bigger purchase to people who were doing fine pre covid-19. I agree with discussing financials with your spouse if you're on hard times or if it's a big purchase for sure but the issue seems to be being made with its size and how it looks and people's wives dismissing it out of hand. Havent heard anyone mentioning cost in the wife argument yet.
To reiterate, I'm glad I've never had to think before buying something "would my wife be ok with this?"

I agree if my wife was the kind of person who told me no to a system purchase because how it looked we would not be married lol. Wtf it sits in the entertainment center it is not displayed as art with spot light. Some guys just cave easy to any excuse its ugly gtfo. I see it as a control thing.

It's called compromise. You can be considerate towards others AND tolerant of other peoples dislikes, not just the latter.
I'm presuming that your wife hates some things and you don't actively go out of your way to bring those things into your house -- That's what is being talked about here.
Some people's partners are sensitive to things like clutter etc. No need to act like you're better than everyone.

Damn, if that's right it makes me sad. My floating shelf is 500mm x 300mm and I was worried about the depth for this reason. Nearly 500mm on its side is fucking awful. Means it's a top shelf job which is practically touching the ceiling :/ You also have to have a inch or so added to the depth to cover HDMI connection and the power cord plastic. So it would be more like 400mm deep
Hoping that's fake - If it was flat, then a wall mount might actually have been a cool way to show it and take the shelf down.

No one outside of the makers really know how these things will feel in a living room right now , but again, given Sony's and MS' culture, I think Sony cares quite a bit more about design and how a product "feels" to live with. They are a Japanese company after all. I mean, Apple used to admire them for how they designed their consumer products and they drew a lot of inspiration from them in the past. No one in the tech industry really admires Microsoft for anything. They are a company built on basically stealing ideas and implementing them for cheaper mass consumption. And I stand by my opinion that each design reflects the culture of their company, and that that PS5 almost surely would have a higher WAF *in general*. One of the boxes looks like an electronics toy, the other could easily be grouped with a couple other pieces and look like a small bit of decor in a room.

So you can call fake... it is around 380mm x 200mm.

Completely disagree. I think both are great designing products. MS has amazing products, at least since Zune, but nowdays Panos' based hardware is great. And particularly on the console side, Xbox One X is fantastic.
To give you an idea, my living room is similar to this:

That is the living room of someone who does not have young kids. Also that wall would make an excellent candidate to be projected onto (if it was a light grey) and then you can put all of the AV equipment up on a shelf behind your head so you can barely see it.

This. We've heard numerous times that they decided to aggressively tackle heat build-up with PS5 from the project's inception. That's why it has such a large, elaborate, and possibly expensive cooling system. The prospect of a quiet PS4 alone is attractive.

- The proportions are different from Sony pics.
- There is no reflection of it on TV
- There is no shadow of it in table even when you move the camera over it (the shadow goes to the desk)
