Jikes! What do they say specifically?

And that Nariko shot is hot.
The opening sentence of the article:

"One pre-rendered trailer, 135 developers, 40 million dollars, a typhoon of internet abuse later and Guerilla have finally done it"

AltogetherAndrews: Reviewable code went out before it was banned it seems. They're not the only publication to put out a review.

Okay these are the PES2008 images. They were in last month's issue.

There are also some other images of fans watching the game in a pub or looking miserable, but they look like they were upscaled from SD resolutions.

Killzone 2 cost 40 million to make? Good luck turning a profit on that game Sony.

Killzone definately doesn't cost $40 million on its own (maybe with marketing though). They certainly are investing a lot of money in its tech, which is going to pay off as since it's a first party game, they'll be able to share the tech progress among all of the other first party games.

Like cutscenes?

Yeah but they look like they're taken from the PS2 version or something.

Oh, beh. I was just interested to know whether it was a new menu or replay showing or whatever. Maybe part of the intro?

Although I still think it looks too plastic, the look of the game is starting to appeal to me. Definitely importing the Japanese release regardless.

THIS WILL BE MY GAME!

They reviewed Manhunt 2? Am I missing something here?

Some UK magazines got review copies of both versions before the game was banned.

NGamer gave the Wii version 96%, it received a 6/10 from GamesTM and 80-90% from a couple of other UK mags.

Quite a bit of that money could probably be considered an investment in tech; the whole SCEWW idea is built around the idea of tech sharing, so this is destined to benefit other studios, and subsequently decrease time and money spent developing tech for each individual game. And then of course Guerrilla itself can reuse tech and assets for the inevitable sequel.

I wonder how much those would go for on ebay? Or do they not work on retail machines?

Nope, only on debug machines. Anyways, T2 is appealing the ban so you folks in Europe could still get the game.

I wonder why Sony would spend that much on K2? The PS2 game bombed, and the PSP game only did so-so.

Bombed? Sure it was average but it was also a multimillion seller

Bombed? LOL it's almost 2 million in sales. Hardly bombing.

holy shit that cover looks awesome, i wish there was a high res of it so i could take out the letters and print out out :D

It did decent in sales, but it did bomb at least compared to how much hype it recieved (it's sort alike how the movie "Poseidon" is considered a bomb even though it grossed over $60 million in the US or how Michael Jackson's CD "Invincible" is considered a bomb even though it sold over 8 million copies worldwide).

Bomb usually means cost > profit.

For example, if a movie costs $120 million, and it made $100 million, it bombed. So, at $50 a pop, for 2 million, that's $100 million. Subtract tax, everything else, and you're looking at a revenue of $50 million.

I doubt KZ1 cost $50 million to make and market, so there's a profit in there

Just fyi Poseidon cost 160 million to make. I'd say it bombed in the US.
