PSN down due to unannounced maintenance?

I'm still able to play Broken Age (PS+ game) even with this whole thing going on so I'm good, I'd be pissed if I wanted to play something online though.

You are absolutely wrong. Maybe your internet was down or something but PSN wasn't down 3 or 4 times in December. That's an objectively wrong statement.

I thought he was saying Xbox Live was down 3 or 4 times in December, not PSN.

I know I was having a lot of problems in December with Live, being unable to buy things from the store, having apps just not work no matter what and having to go offline to play games. I also know I was not alone.

Oh, maybe he was, either way I'd be surprised if that were the case but I don't own an Xbox so can't say first hand.

I am logged in but cant play my downloaded games (singleplayer game). My PS4 is the primary but it says it isnt.

Anyone having the same issue as me?

Worst part of PSN going down is that I can't launch the FF XIV client, since it needs to check the license from Sony's end. :(

Hope it comes back up soon, I'd like to get in some play before work.

That's a good thing for me. I feel obligated to play otherwise.

It would be interesting to hear from Sony why the service is working for some of its users.
Since Sony says it's not working for some of the users, Sony is also saying that it works for others, in the same region.

I traded in my Xb1 last month after being an xbox fan for the longest and one of the primary reasons was indeed network issues on MS's end that they could never fix. I could not get through a movie rental or a streaming TV show without seeing the "not connected to xbox live check your internet" popping up and kicking you out of your movie/streaming service entirely. This problem would come and go.. I think the longest we went without it was about 2 months but it was super irritating. The thing was it wasn't dropping the internet connection it was some kind of secondary connection almost like "we cannot communicate with the mothership so we will now stop your streaming service".

None of my other consoles/pc's had this issue.. just the Xbox One. I tried replacing the console (on my own dime mind you). I switched ISP's, I switched routers.. nothing would change. I have had a good experience with the PS4 thus far and the PS3 before it.. nothing like the nightmare that was live.

it's PR bullshit that every company does

I have the same issue. My PS4 is my primary device, but all games are locked. I know for a fact mine is because I remember playing my digital content back in December 2014 when PSN was down.

Still down for me in UK. No friends list, no store and no online at all.

Killed my chances of playing Rocket League tonight. Thank heavens for simple single player games. I'm Having a blast on Shovel Knight now. Awesome game BTW.

Maybe it's parts of the service. My store was working every time I checked but not the online/friends list stuff.

No clue though otherwise.

People who were playing games like Destiny prior to PSN going down are technically on the service. Sure, if they log off and attempt to log back into Destiny it will fail, but they're technically on the service.

All I know is I'm thankful to own a Wii U and an Xbox One. Makes downtimes less of an issue.

I just got home from winter vacation and was planning on redeeming my PS+ games and getting a couple games from the sale (Suikoden III and Mega Man Legends). Since today is the last day I will be able to do either of these things, I hope this problem gets resolved by tonight.

Wanted to jump right into episode three of Tales from the Borderlands, but didn't pre-load every episode. Oh well, I've plenty of other things to do, just too bad since I won't be able to play games that take large time investment chunks soon with my next college term starting tomorrow.

All I wanted to do today was summon some help for this piece of shit final boss in the Bloodborne DLC. Fuuuuuck.

Getting my ass kicked taking him on alone. Haven't gotten him any farther than 50% health. Hurry up PSN please thank you thanks

Unexpected maintenance is part of life. I even saw a pop up on my PS4 about server maintenance. Even if it's done overnight, chances of something going wrong is always a possibility. Just because it's a network associated with video games doesn't make things better. You have more people throwing stones at the company and their products than elsewhere if you ask me.

I thought it wasn't maintenance but some problem.
I know it says "maintenance"
Back up and running perfectly for me.
Really? Not here..

Shit just remembered I didn't delete my CC info the last time I bought something on PSN.

Not now Sony please.

Damn you and your foresight.

u do realize that those numbers do not magically vanish from sonys end if you delete them off your account....they keep records against any transaction that is purchased with it

they were meant to store the numbers in a nice hashed database but instead they basically left the back door open and a suitcase full of money open on the kitchen bench for hackers to come and steal

I've seen it mentioned in this thread that Credit Card details may have been compromised, has it been confirmed that these have been compromised or are people just being "funny"?

Pretty sure they are jokes from the last major psn outage. Otherwise we have no information

Probably just bullshitting. Considering the big outtage from a few years ago, they'd be foolish to not speak on it immediately.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I do wish that people would consider the appropriateness of joking about stuff like that, I was just about to get on the phone to my bank and ask for my cards to be reissued.

I don't think it's been down long enough to properly confirm something like that, so it's just the usual internet panic and speculation.
