I don't think so. Your wallet has to have money/credit put into it, then you have to spend it.
If you had gotten a regular PSN gift card, then bought a Plus subscription off the PSN store it would have counted. I think.

A ton of DLC was on sale a few weeks back. Season passes for several great games like Shadow of Mordor, Far Cry 4, and Dying Light. Bethesda just had a sale for DLC in their games just last week or two ago.
