A free game will no longer suffice.

My list of demands:
  • 3 free games
  • 1 free month of PS+
  • Totally new Store UI
  • Webkit-based browser
  • X-game voice chat

...I can't even play my PC copy because Steam believes I've never used the PS3 version, even after beating it on SP! This cannot stand without retribution.

What's wrong with the current store UI?

Or just that he's a character created for promotional proposes?

Sticking with my May 9 prediction.

But now I am starting to get upset about updates. It's Monday, almost noon and not even a small update on the blog yet.
I think Sony's US offices are on the west coast, so their business day may not have even started yet. I'm just hoping that the next update is really an update, and not just the same old "we're working around the clock to get the services up as soon as possible, thanks for your patience" stuff we've seen recently.

May 31st? duddddeeeee...this is crazy. I'm really hoping this gets Sony all introspective about their business and comes out of this stronger and more competitive.

I'm guessing they have that same crazy Japanese business structure where no one can do anything until it comes down from higher up and all the departments practically compete with each other. and it probably played a role in this.

Again, to repost for people who clearly haven't read the past few pages, May 31st is their internal deadline to get the ENTIRE PSN back up and running, including the store. If you had read the past few pages, you would know that the online gaming portion is coming up BEFORE the store, so we can still possibly be looking at this week. Knowledge is power, my friends....

I haven't used it in weeks, so it's hard to snipe granular examples, but finding content is usually a chore. If you've ever tried to browse for a game that has been up for several months, you may know what I mean; you pretty much have to use the search bar.

Basically, it could def use a-sprucin'.

Has Sony announced the list of games (5, I believe?) that people will be able to choose from?

And why do I have the feeling they'll be cheap/lame games that won't hurt them for giving them away? :-/

Sony probably already know media and people don't read fine prints, so they just announce a random date when EVERYTHING will be restored in larger print. That way, people will think that they won't be able to play online until then then. Then they can surprise people by turning on that part of the service next week!!!!

It's only 9 am where they are.

That's still the beginning of the day. A release statement should be on hand to release regularly where all you need to do is change the date of the release itself.

Hard to navigate. Off the top of my head they could add:

- PSTwo Classics - for the HD collections that are there
- PSThree Classics - for BD PS3 games that are there
- Dreamcast Classics
- Plenty of changes in the movie section

Capcom - Downtime costing us hundreds of thousands, possibly millions.

I'm frustrated and upset by it for a number of reasons.

As a consumer, I also play games online on PS3, which I can't do... and likely my personal information is also compromised. Secondly I like to buy things in the PlayStation store and that I can't do right now.

On a related note, as an executive responsible for running a business, the resulting outage obviously costing us hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in revenue that were planned for within our budget. These are funds we rely on to bring new games to market for our fans.

In short, the hackers appear to be trying to "punish" Sony for some perceived injustice, and they've been effective in that I suppose. But they're also punishing millions of other consumers and businesses which makes it impossible to be sympathetic to their "cause".

'pologies if posted.

I still have hopes that online functionality will be up before the Playstation store (which will most likely be the 31st, or later *gasp*)

/me begins to weep

Does anyone want to punch a wall, or a kitten (or punch a kitten through a wall) whenever Sony gives us that "we're working around the clock and will keep you updated" line?

Fucking fuck ups, man.

I just want to be able to go and buy a new PS3 and download all my game saves back from the cloud. Holding off until they get it sorted, plus limiting time on my 60GB as I don't want it to die without first syncing all my trophies from the last 2 weeks.

That is a misleading title. It says they aim to have the store up by May 31st but online gameplay before then.

*Slaps forehead*

Well at least the morons put up an update at the top saying this.

Updated: Whilst May 31 is the date that Sony aim to return full functionality to the PSN service including the PSN Store, according to the PlayStation Blog they aim to restore Online Gameplay before that date.

Course that's just a prime example of why I quit reading IGN. All the talent left long ago and now they have nothing but trolls they call "reporters".

when you click on the page, they have an update right at the top. REALLY shoddy imho. grab with the sensationalist headlines for the clicks/impressions, even though the headline is totally (intentionally) misleading.

Totally agree. I don't game online often on my PS3, but nonetheless the lack of details after missing the deadline they set is absurd. My patients is wearing thin at this point so I can't even imagine how someone that uses the PSN daily must feel. Sony is doing a good job at making a bad situation worse.

Lol the store is too hard to navigate and you want to add MORE categories for groups that there are only a handful of games in?

I really hope online play goes up before then, especially with Brink coming out tomorrow, and then you have all the SOCOM/Motorstorm/Killzone fans...

It's citing the bloomberg report as the source, which we've been discussing for a few pages now, and still referring to the 31st as the planned date for full recovery, which the new title reflects. So, there's nothing new to see here.

I know, I was mainly posting it as a "lol, IGN" moment.

I was thinking the exact same thing on that one. And am I the only one who doesn't feel the store is hard to navigate?

Question: when it goes up for the initial phase, will i be able to make purchases off the playstation store? the list of things they said they would initially go up doesn't seem to include it and i'm sad now. I have a bunch of codes to redeem and I have a new psp go I want to load stuff on.

well i guess i answered my own question.

Game wise they are offering ....
2 free PS3 games (out of 5)
2 free PSP games (out of 4)

Not one free game.

And more if you have US/EU/JAP accounts that are used ;)
