PSN still down, internal testers online in various games though

:( i just got back from my trip and this still isn't up?!

so i'm assuming no details as to when itll be up now (based on my skimming of the OP). is that correct?

I've returned open consoles to best buy and amazon. They have no issue as long as it is within 30 days. It's opened software that can't be returned.

that's a bit acidic. people are well within their right to be freaked out about every account having its info stolen and the second attack on SOE. I agree, it's just a matter of patience, but people who don't understand what's going on just see "your shits been stolen, our online system is indeterminately down, sry, bow.gif"

and i thought it was established that a vocal minority own both systems. owning both is somewhat redundant in terms of exclusives this gen. there are a few, but it's not like you have to own one to play a certain genre like last gen.

i'll get my hopes up when it's "any minute now" if we are still talking about days i might as well dig in to the offline backlog some more! A good excuse to finish some story modes...

You may have under-estimated them big time. 5 years olds these days are amazing. They know how to type, go online, register for new accounts and play games without supervision.

If you set up CC info, they may also buy virtual goods faster than you can say "no".

They don't usually complain because they have so many avenues to get entertained. He'd just hand the DS3 controller to me and we play LBP2 co-op. Or he'll play something else on PC or iOS stuff. Or watch TV and yes, Blu-ray. Or learn how to bike, etc.

All of the UI these days is much more simple. Using any kind of technology today is much more simple so it is easier to use for children and the elderly.

who said anything about being freaked out? if you were freaked out and were swearing off sony devices, you wouldn't keep it as your bluray player.

this is pretty clearly positioned as, "I miss call of duty"

Right. Most of the complaints I have seen in here is inability to activate Portal 2, Netflix issues and COD withdrawals.

I think they will make it through this just fine for the most part, and so will their fans. Only the most fickle will get rid of the system over this, but with those people, if this wasn't this situation to drive them away, I am sure some other thing would have anyway.

The content is there. It's not the platform's problem that you don't choose to purchase or play it.
 
I pretty much only use PSN for the store, netflix, and this time, activating Portal 2. I'm certainly not dumping my console because I can't get online.

My thoughts, excatly. Its not PS3's fault that people hate good games.

I'm getting a bit antsy myself. I was planning on buying quite a few PSN games. Ah well... :(

Hopefully everything will be back to normal way before E3...Gears 3 beta is almost done and I want to play Demon's Souls dammit! :(

BTW everyone else getting less and less excited for this year's E3? With the PSN incident Sony will most likely have a "cold" and awkward show, MS is turning into Kinect everything and Ninty will probably show a new underpowered "next gen" console...I was really hyped for this E3 but I'm afraid that it will be a disappointing show.
 
Monday seems like a good day to re-launch the service, believe.

I don't understand why the PSN problems should change E3 at all for them, it's not as if when MS had the RROD problem, for their E3 they stopped announcing new shit and start talking about RROD.

They haven't gone more than 2 days without an update on the blog (today we'd be due for one), but they also didn't update last Sunday.

I'd consider a good trade in deal for my second ps3. Have been for a few weeks prior to psn going down after I found cfw to be pretty useless to me.

But only if my trade in covers most of the cost for a new 360/kinect.

And only after I've sync'd my trophies.

After i've sync'd up i'll probably post my 60gb ps3 for sale in the neogaf buy/sell/trade thread...

There has been some speculation around it, but i dont think that anyone knows for sure. Hopefully it is true though and not something bigger, since that "hack" wasnt THAT big (it was the sweepstakes stuff from 2001).
 
Well yesterday I went ahead and followed through on my idle threat. But here me out......

I traded in two PS3's and 45 games I owned for the system as I am now 100% totally disguised with Sony and the PS3. I have been a long time sony fan, and I will miss a few game but I will not own the console again until the ps4 and a real network is designed.

Here are the reasons I quit on PS3...

#1. after years of being told were working on it (no cross game chat) Social interaction on the PS3 is laughable.

#2. Patching, forced installs that speed up nothing, and features being removed from us all the time with features being asked for ignored.

#3. Most of the games I play look better on 360 (third party)

#4. Parental controls on 360 way better than ps3 (on 360 I can make it so my son hears only his friend) and not random assholes telling him things inappropriate becuase he owned them in some game.

#5. Ability to stream music while in any game!

#6. Sony's ignorance and FU attitude toward it's customer base, and the fact That they knowingly unprotected my account info which caused me a royal pain in the ass to cancel and setup all my accounts again.

#7. I have more but honestly most of you don't care about why I did this, but I want people to know that some of us actually do follow through on threats and I am willing to loose some game experiences for my principles. I don't like liers.

I hear them wait were giving you plus and our shitty music service as a demo so you can BUY it. FU SONY seriously. The PS3 hardware is good I will admit it, better than 360 probably but #1 I dont do blu-ray I stream from Vudu, Netflix and Fios no need for media.
Secondly you told us 3 TIMES there servers would be up, but I honestly believe this was a PR move to keep peo-ple hanging on to the systems.

You need to redesign and build new servers in multiple locations which takes more than a few weeks. You lied to keep people on-board and now you lost me. Im sure many of you will disagree but man SONY just keeps on fucking up.

Yes they got hacked, but they played big man and got there balls smacked hard, and now it's costing them WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more money than leaving other-os or dropping the charges against hackers would have ever cost them..

I hope the PS4 is better and I will enjoy the next 2 years being on a real network (though I have no friends now lol)

So if you a GAFFER and have some room for an old PSN dude in your friends list hit me up as I need some friends on the 360 now!)

Have: Black Ops, Crysis 2, Red Dead, Halo Reach and more...

Sony you had the chance to come clean and fix things, but you didn't so asta la Vesta baby! (will miss Uncharted3 though :( )
