Chances are better that Sony would come out and announce that Steam has replaced PSN. Just like that, they'd have a a more feature-rich service, free of all the clunkiness of PSN, and, best of all, Sony would have minimal involvement in it.

I wouldn't want PSN to be replaced by steam! Aside from the current security issue, PSN has served its users VERY well. PS+ getting newer features does make me a bit angry though.

I've been wondering what "gate" is referring to as well. I first saw it mentioned in "PSN-gate". I assumed it was a comparision to the Watergate incident, but i'm not sure exactly where the referrance is, if it is due to security issues in general or due to being a scandal in general.

It just repeats that they'll be rolling out PSN on a regional basis. It does imply that Japan might be getting the service back first, but it doesn't have any actual timeframe or new update on when to expect the service to be up.

I've been angry about this as much as the next guy but it takes a sane person to know when to push and when to forgive. I'm going to do my part by spending $80 on PSN when it comes back up and I suggest you do the same... I suggest everyone of the 77 million users do the same. Imagine what 1.6 billion dollars can do for a company like Sony after this kind of crisis. We should all be thinking about what we can do to help.
