I didn't find Portable Island to be all that import friendly, or that good of a game for that matter.

Initial D is ok. The PSP nub holds it back more than the game itself IMO.

Star Soldier is a must for shmup fans, also get to play it in portrait mode.

Very late edit, but my first comment should have been thank you for posting this list!

While not mainly PSP focused, some of the MM games on JP PSN work on PS3, PSP and PS Vita well.

PS1 Classics: MM5 and 6, MMX6
PSP: Mega Man Powered Up

You need a JP account to play them on Vita but I don't think it should be much of an issue putting them on your PS3 (PS1 games) or PSP (PS1 & PSP games).

Are these games all on psn? Do you have to create a Japanese account to access them? Nice list of games, but I don't know how to get a hold of them.

You can make a JP account via PS3 and once you set it up, you can buy games by adding JP PSN Credit (which you can get online from places like Play Asia or something) or by using your credit card.

On PS3, once you have the game on your system you can play it on any account (which is selected via user system). On PSP, not sure how it works, but should be not nearly as restrictive as playing JP PSN games on Vita (if you mainly use a NA/EU account).

Thanks. Is there such a list for PS4/PS3 titles?

I made the list by myself, this means I checked every game on gamefaqs to see its release, then I looked for a video available (that's a reason some of them don't have)
It took me a little while, also I don't know if there is already available somewhere something like this.
Well, for PS3 it could be feasible cause now the system is almost dead, but PS4 should be updated every week...

Another question was about PSN : I didn't check if all those games are available, my intention was to create a list of physical releases so you don't have to switch your PSN account (which is a pain in the ass if you own a Vita)
Also a good bunch of these games are not so much expensive actually, so probably going (used) UMD is even cheaper than buying from PSN.

I appreciate the positive comments, glad it's useful :)

Pretty sure I used the D-pad to drift. It's tough, but doable... not sure if I'll ever manage to beat Takumi at Akina though, heh.

Still, it's portable Initial D V3. More than worth the price of admission.

Why the hell can't Namco do that for Maximum Tune?

Hey OP, Final Fantasy 3 is JP-ONLY but has English text option.

Nice list, will look into some of these games!

Pretty sure they released FF 3 as a PSN only release in the US.

Uhm... if the japanese version has english text (not much into rpg, sorry, so I didn't know it) and it was released only digital in the west I might add it to the list, what do you think ?
I didn't include rpg because I tried to make a list about games which can be played by people without any basic knowledge of japanese

Valkyrie Chronicles 3 is not text heavy actually. It's an SRPG after all. Everything is straight forward. I played the JP version for like 40 hrs and I don't know Japanese.

There is a fan-translation available for the game, there's no need to play it in japanese unless you don't want to learn how to CFW or wants to play it in japanese.

I didn't know there is an English fan-translation.
Still, VC3 is an import friendly game, even though it's not import necessary.

the fan-translation is something I would consider, but I don't know if there is a list of translated games

Of course this way means you have to use CFW, but this would be one "good way" to use it, I still buy UMD's and then copy on my memory card:
1- dont need to bring all my UMD's everywhere
2- UMD disc preservation
3- no loading times
4- some games can be played better (switch to 333Mhz and then playing Outrun 2006 CtC is much better)

anyway if the fan-translation list is available somewhere I could add those titles into a separate list

That's true, I forgot it.

I'm going to Japan in December and i'll try to get some of these games. Heaven's Will and BlackRock Shooter look promising. And Digimon Rumble Arena for psx if i can.

Subscribed.

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Is Project Diva Extend its own game or is it just a few more songs tacked onto the original Diva? I own PD1 and 2 but haven't picked up Extend yet... worth it?

It was good for the time, but many songs were recycled into PDF2, so if you have PDF2, Extend loses some appeal.

I still play Diva 2nd Psp on my Vita. Looks and plays great. So many good tracks that didn't make it to the vita games.

I'd get Extend too but the PSN price is bonkers.

Is there a list like this for Vita?

afaik I've never see it, but with the system still on the market it takes time to keep it updated, especially considering how many games are released every week and maybe localized months away

anyway it's a good idea :)

Going to Japan on mid December. I'll be on the lookout for Princess Crown and Groundhound EX

check as many Book-Off as possible, avoid the one in Akihabara

Princess Crown shoul be not hard to find, Gunhound EX a little more

I also have to start looking for Gunhound, since I installed Adrenaline on my PSTV playing PSP games on a big screen is a pleasure for my eyes :)

you can find something also in Tsutaya and Geo, but prices should be higher compared to Book-Off
another good place is Nakano: Nakano Broadway is just after the station and you will find two shops : Big Mario (on the covered street which goes from the station to the Nakano Broadway building) and Tomato Land, on 3F
There is also Mandarake Galaxy on 2F but prices are high (almost same level as Super Potato)

these hints are good if you are going to Tokyo, if you go to Kansai maybe there a different shops, for example maybe Super Potato in Osaka (someone living there should confirm) is cheaper than here in Tokyo, probably the most expensive place for buying game in all Kanto area :D
