PSP Games on Vita screen captures - Show me what you can do, OLED !

terrible comparison, is that psp on low brightness? looks awful.

can you do some desert base shots?

you cant just put up another shot of the psp to say thats what it is really like. The whole point of a comparison shot is that they are both taken under the same conditions. Your KZ Liberation shot unfortunately adds nothing.

That comparison is accurate. That's really how it looks on my psp 1000 w/ max brightness.

That's at least how the difference looks. The PSP doesn't look bad, but the camera tries to make the Vita look normal, and hence the difference is magnified in this picture.

EDIT: I think my pictures on facebook were made without trying to focus on one particular screen, and with the PSP at max brightness.

I wish you could actually take screenshots during PSP games. Playing Last Ranker currently and it looks decent.

Welp, I decided to pull the trigger on P3P thanks to the PSN sale, even though I already have the UMD.

On the Vita the colors are deeper, darker, and more saturated, although the differences aren't always as noticeable.

Have any of you tried getting PSP games off the store? What would you guys say are the games most enhanced by the second stick?

(North American store)

Now that the update is here, anyone has some pictures of PSOne Games running on the Vita ?
Also, if a mod comes here, could he/she change the title of the thread to "PSP/PSOne Games" instead of "PSP Games" ?

The comparison is more striking in real life. My crappy point-and-shoot camera doesn't do it justice.

Time to give this thread some new life, 2 shots from lunar: silver star harmony. The game simply looks amazing, colors are bright and the increased resolution gives it a slightly fuzzy look (which I like).

Anyone got some shots of Valkyrie Profile (either PSP or PS1 version)?

I don't think there are PSN versions of either game. So you will have to take a chance and hope someone has the disc versions and do remote play.

I need to buy this. Like now.

I'm currently playing through FF4 and Tomb Raider Anniversary.
FF4 is simply incredible. Looks like a native res Vita game when it's only an upscaled PSP Game.
Tomb raider looks nice too, even if much more blocky and aliased ( 3D game , so that's not really a surprise ).

Any idea why Outrun Coast to Coast for the PSP is not listed in the NA PSN store ? I would love to have that game on my Vita.

My biggest problem is that I'd be a solely digital consumer, or nearly, so what I really need is a huge discount on a 32 or 64GB (does that exist?) Vita memory card along with a nice hardware price cut.
Ditto. It's the memory card more than anything that's holding me back.

I really want it for P4G.

I have a 16Gb and can do just fine. I already have something like 6/8 big games and 10 small games installed, and I never play more than 2/3 games simultaneously.
It's a small hassle to redownload / make room for a new game, but it's much more cost-efficient :)

16 GB is indeed fine unless you really want to have huge amount of games at every time.

I got 16gb and I have Uncharted, Mortal Kombat, PS All-Stars, Big Sky Infinity, Knytt Underground, Alundra, Tomb Raider, Tactics Ogre, Crash 2, 3 on it and still have like 4gb free space. It's not a problem at all to rotate the games especially since you can just multitask the download while you play unlike PSP for example.

Are ps1 games on the vita running at native vita res or are they stuck at PSP resolution, or does that even make a difference?

They run at native PSOne resolution, with different resize / stretching options.
Personally I use the custom option, with screen ratio locked, allowing me to get the biggest image possible without ratio problems ( but black bars on the sides of course ).

Well I'd imagine they run at native PS1 res but they look fuckin great.
Hmm what I really mean is do they use a native emulator that runs at the Vita's native 960x544 res, or did they just get lazy and use something like the PSP ps1 emulator? I'm not even sure if that matters but I'm thinking something native would look much better

It uses Vitas full resolution to run the emulator. You can fully customize the sceen size for example and it uses every pixel if you want a small screen. It does not use PSP emulation on PS1 games. You can customize the right stick and backpanel/touchscreen to buttons for example.

That's good to know.

Reason why I asked is because I once read somewhere (here in GAF maybe?) that the ps1 emulator was just running off the PSP emulator (emulator inside an emulator), or something like that

Are you sure that wasn't before the official PS1 emulation? Like people playing via CFW PSP emulation? Cause I find it hard to believe PS1 emulation has much of anything to do with the old PSP emulation of PS1 games.

Yeah, there was a discussion here back when the vita started to support ps1 games and people complained why it looked like it was just running off the PSP emulator. I think its because they still had the psp warning splash screens and stuff showing up when you boot up a ps1 game, though I'm guessing that just might be something packaged with the game you download off the ps store?

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. I just like having everything accessible all at once. I've got a 32GB sd card in my 3ds even though I'm likely to never fill it. Its just nice to have all my virtual console games, small download games, extra data, and full retail games on the system at all times.

Of course, I'd love to be able to get everything on me all the time too. But don't let this stop you from buying the system, it's really an incredible machine, and having to re-download a game or two every two weeks isn't that much of a nuisance compared to what the system has to offer :)
