PSP system *exclusive* games that still hold up

Zettai Hero Project: Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman is a fun roguelike/Mystery Dungeon type game by NIS, using Sentai hero tropes and Disgaeaish humor to pave the way. I prefer its humor style to Disgaea and the gameplay does some unique spins on the Roguelike style.

The majority of your strength is done by starting at level 1 when you enter a dungeon and leveling up as you gain kills, but you also have an overall level that improves your base stats and growth rates that never goes away, so dying is never a total loss. You can also modify how your heros stat grow using the Zettai Hero Project system.

EDIT: Ok, You got me, I also didn't read the full OP. ZHP is also on the PSN. I have no shame though because it gave me a chance to talk about this criminally underrated game.

Jeanne d'Arc
Hot Shots Tennis

Edit: Ah, I didn't see your clarification on not being able to use the games on Vita. For a while, you couldn't get Jeanne d'Arc directly on the Vita but could transfer via PS3. As for exclusives that don't work on Vita, you got me there. Pretty challenging limitation, though I'm not sure how useful to be honest.

That's hard...

Go look at titles from Square, a lot of them never got released elsewhere...

And...

idk, are the WipeOut PSP games on Vita? They're pretty good. Shinobido Tales of the Ninja (there's a sequel on the Vita, but idk if the first one is available too). The first Gods Eater? Kenka Bancho?

It's hard to remember what's available on the Vita and what isn't tbh. I'll throw these names there lol

Not sure why the topic is so hard for people.

I find it interesting because it's a question basically asking "What great PSP games do I need to get a PSP for?"

Someone thinking about getting a PSP would want to know this.

I submit any Enix RPG. None are available on Vita.

All of the Korean DJMAX games.
Hot Tunes and Fever are sketchy.

Portable 2 and Black Square are my favorites. Clazziquai is great because I love the band.

Metal Gear acid games get my vote. I'd play more of those.... make more of those if you want to spin off MGS Konami.

If you want to get a PSP now, the best reason to do so is for import games. Even if a Japanese PSP game is available on PSN, switching between different region accounts on the Vita is a big pain, so it's useful to keep a PSP around for them. Here are some games you can look for:

Boku no Natsuyasumi 2
Breath of Fire III (EU)
DJ Max Black Square
DJ Max Clazziquai Edition
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd
Parodius Portable
Pop'n Music Portable 1/2
Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza Black Panther
Salamander Portable
Soldier Collection
Taiko no Tatsujin DX
Twinbee Portable
Valkyria Chronicles 3

Gitaroo Man
Mega Man Powered Up
Valkyrie Profile

Apparently metal gear acid is quite good as well.

The original Valkryie Profile still exists, though to be fair it tends to go for a lot of money so the PSP version is the far more economical way to legally own this game. The PSX version got a few tweaks in the American version that makes it a tad better, but it's nothing huge, especially compared to the price.

still the best battlefront we ever got in terms of evolving the series in a logical way.

there's that other elite squadron game that did land to space but i never played it outside of the demo and the demo didn't seem too hot.

Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
Zettai Hero Project
Jeanne d'Arc
Wild Arms XF
Metal Gear Acid 1 & 2 (the second one especially is amazing)
Metal Gear Portable Ops
Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins
Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
Final Fantasy Dissidia
Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?
Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood!

The PSP had such an amazing library of games, my fave handheld.

The game is actually on sale as part of the Flash Sale. I picked it up buy haven't tried playing it yet. Heard nothing but great things about it so I'm glad it's actually Vita compatible. Anyone interested should definitely take advantage of the 3 dollars it's going for now.

I really have no idea what happened with 3. Feels like they struck off in another direction that fell on its face.

I loved 3. The online co-op made it much more fun than the previous two, and also kept me playing much longer. Had a deeper stat building system, and more variety with all of the different hero types.

I'm not sure I can think of any different games that have been listed here, unless you count something like Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins if it hasn't been mentioned.

And while I'm here, is psp 3000 the best model to get?

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.

I don't care if it didn't fit this thread this game is a fucking wonderful game and more people need to play it

Definitely give MGS portable ops are go.

Not the best MGS game, probably my least favorite but it's still fun, got a great soundtrack and you can witness the beginning of what later evolved to Peace Walker, TPP and the whole fulton, recruit building simulation.

Peace Walker is on ps vita, and ps3 and 360 via HD collections.
