PSP system *exclusive* games that still hold up

still the best battlefront we ever got in terms of evolving the series in a logical way.

there's that other elite squadron game that did land to space but i never played it outside of the demo and the demo didn't seem too hot.

My man. Renegade Squadron was incredible. Rough to look at, but so damn accomplished.

I'll give a shoutout to Armored Core: Formula Front. Carnage Heart-lite in many ways, but I spent ages battling friends in the hands-off AI-controlled combat. Metal Pokemon. Incredible game and it should be on PSN, damnit.

Don't know what's compatible with Vita, but from the UMD list I liked Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Metal Gear Acid 2. I have too many games on UMD to abandon my PSP.

Quick picks:

After Burner: Black Falcon
Bounty Hounds
Bust-A-Move Deluxe
Crisis Core : FF VII
EXIT
Ghost in the Shell: SAC (if you LOVE the series)
GITAROOMAN Lives
Metal Gear Acid 1 + 2

There's quite a lot, especially once you dig into the Japanese-only segment.

Is Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow not on PSN? Can only find the demo for some reason. Make sure you play both Syphon Filter games regardless if you have even the slightest interest in 3rd person action / shooting games.

Metal Gear AC!D 1 and 2. Better than the more recent Metal Gear titles, imo. Especially if you are after that MGS1/MGS2 feel that we just do not get anymore.

Zettai Hero Project: Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman is a fun roguelike/Mystery Dungeon type game by NIS, using Sentai hero tropes and Disgaeaish humor to pave the way. I prefer its humor style to Disgaea and the gameplay does some unique spins on the Roguelike style.

The majority of your strength is done by starting at level 1 when you enter a dungeon and leveling up as you gain kills, but you also have an overall level that improves your base stats and growth rates that never goes away, so dying is never a total loss. You can also modify how your heros stat grow using the Zettai Hero Project system.

EDIT: Ok, You got me, I also didn't read the full OP. ZHP is also on the PSN. I have no shame though because it gave me a chance to talk about this criminally underrated game.

I am sold on this game. I love the concept, and good Humor is something I always like to see in Games.

Just a suggestion, PSP games that have been ported to PS2 later are usually much better on PSP. So, say, games like Wipeout Pulse, Motorstorm Arctic Edge, R&C Size Matters etc... while available on a "superior" system, are still worse than the original version.

There's quite a number of games you should check out, but first of all, get Daxter.

Crisis Core.
Holds up very well, you can emulate it on a PS3 too and even on PPSSPP, game scales up VERY nicely to HD resolutions, only a shame the FMV is rendered at the paltry PSP resolution.

On that note, Persona 3 Portable scales extremely well too. it's all 2D elements which end up scaling pretty good to HD.

Why haven't the AC!D games ever gone anywhere else, if Konami wanted to do a F2P game with microtransactions do it with that! I would snap that up in a second on my phone.
I'm sorry.

Not really helpful info but Zettai Hero Project is actually working on Vita, so it should just be a matter of publisher not putting it out on non-Japan regions.

Prinny games are also playable as those have been on sale in the Vita Store in Japan. Wild Arms XF also.

MHFU - Still the best game in the series

There are still a lot of great PSP exclusives, but most of them can be played on the Vita. But if you're looking for games that run on a PSP and not the Vita, then I'd also add that it has much better PS1 support.

I still keep my PSP active because I can play all the Spyro and Crash games, which don't work on the Vita. There are quite a few.

As for PSP games, I like Modnation Racers PSP, Fat Princess, and Midway Arcade Treasures.

Why unplayable anywhere else? There's good reason you can buy Jeanne D'Arc and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together on the Vita (and Vita TV).

Edit: Mega Man Powered Up is an amazing game that had a glitch in it so they never put it up on the NA store for PSP and therefore it is still a PSP exclusive.

All of the Korean DJMAX games.
Hot Tunes and Fever are sketchy.

Portable 2 and Black Square are my favorites. Clazziquai is great because I love the band.

Korean Black Square has this annoying "auto-aim" that Fever had. If anything, he should look for the Japanese release for that one.

Okay you guys got me.

What RPGs did Square release in Europe for the psp? I'll buy a cheap psp and try to track them all down >.> then I'll play them and make s thread about playing through the good square Enix RPGs on the psp

Which psp model should I buy?

Just a question, how many games are we talking about? I was about to post some screenshots but Sony went crap. >__>

All available Spyro games when I checked via PS webstore are also on the Vita store (JP). Also same with Crash Bandicoot games. (2 Spyro games, 5 Crash games)

So spam Sony to make them available?
