Neither Lumines game for PSP is on the PSN due to licensing issues.

i like that decided with this. especially now the size of the game can expand. which is good for Square and Kojima ^_^Corto said:Proprietary Flash Card

heck no. i still love my manuals <3entrement said:So are you guys gonna start buying your games on PSN now since you'll be able to play them on the new hardware?

Eh. Don't know if this is partly-directed at me. I'm not bitching about anything. I'm simply armchair-analyzing what I believe to be a pricing challenge for Sony. It has nothing to do with how much I'd personally pay for anything.TouchMyBox said:Is this thread 30 pages of people bitching about price points? Everything Sony showed yesterday were 1st party titles, sprinkle in some tech demo ports (Yakuza to the End, MGS4 etc) from 3rd party.

Akira said:Agreed on the sequel. Now that you've reminded me, I wonder how well scaling up from the PSP games will be. That's mainly why I want a new Lumines game: to take advantage of the new PSP2 hardware.
All the information is out there and its quite comprehensive once you go through it, though it appears a lot of it has been lost in translation. Like for example you and many others don't seem to realise it'll be using flash card technology for games. The system doesn't look rushed at all. In fact I'd argue PSP2 looks incredibly well put together like they have been preparing these ideas since the PSP first came out.Vamphuntr said:I'm impressed by how the games look but I'm still on the fence about the NGP because of the many crucial details we have yet to obtain. It really seems like something they put together in a hurry. They called in a conference while the handheld is not yet complete and once again Sony pulled the tech demos card. Rumours were saying that developers had dev kits in their hands months ago and yet most of the games shown by third parties were cutscenes and tech demos. I mean sure maybe they are keeping their big reveal for E3 but it made Sony look really bad, as if they had thrown this at the last minute.
Twin sticks is a really good idea as this was one of the main complain about the control schemes on PSP. Furthermore, the Uncharted demo did make good use of the touchscreen and touchpad. On the other hand the cameras look quite gimmicky especially for Hot Shots Golf. The second stick is good enough to control the camera. I can't really picture someone using the cameras to move the ingame camera on a regular basis. Getting rid of the UMD drive is another good thing as games on UMD were often plagued by looooong loading times.
I'm also quite curious to know what kind of storage medium it will use and if the NGP itself has internal storage? I'm not even sure about the kind of cards that will be used to store retail games.
So many parameters still up in the air...

That said TGS should hopefully be when we start seeing what all the Japanese devs are cooking up for the game.....then again Kojima will be ready to show his project at E3 so we might get quite a few reveals there and GDC.
This is operating under the assumption that stuff like Legends 3 doesn't exist. And I don't like that.QuiteWhittle said:If it is 299.99, there will literally be no reason to buy a 3DS. This is a great post. The whole point of internet forums is to communicate and share what's on your mind.George Claw M.D. said:Eh. Don't know if this is partly-directed at me. Also, "Who cares?" Apparently, many people on a GAMING forum. It's a valid point of discussion, for a device that was just announced, yesterday. Indeed, its price may be the single-biggest determinant of the NGP's success. Gaming companies do gather information from varying sources, including our own little NeoGAF. It can't hurt for potential consumers to publicly express their desire for affordability, which includes letting Sony know that $499 is not affordable for many of us.

Knowing it is PSN BC, what are the chance if any that Capcom will update the software to be able to use that second stick for camera control? I would be in heaven.

Good moves by Sony:
two analogues. (will get todays big games like COD and make them easily accessible to current userbase)
touch screen (great for portable gaming)
3G ( the handheld of the future, always connected, always online gaming anywhere)
unquestionably good graphics (will absorb higher end dev japanese market)
flash carts (thank you sony for learning from nintendo on this one, loading not acceptable on a portable)
I believe the portable battle is going to be fierce. At least in Japan.
It will be exciting watching the portables duke it out from the sidelines...I will be waiting two years or more before buying a new system.
all we need to know is....PRICE!
edit: and battery life...
seady said:BC on the PSP is a weird bulletpoint and is different from people to people.
It is backward compatible, but only if you buy your PSP games digitally. How many people actually buy their PSP games digitally though? Especially seeing how bad the PSPgo sold.
Was the question asked previously or something?Boney said:You deserve a good smackin
ivedoneyourmom said:That's fine and all, but there becomes a point when I have to decide on what devices I want to carry on my person, and it would be much easier if that number was smaller.
As it stands, if Sony were to offer me a way to get my games on this device it might convince me to get it sooner, otherwise I would wait till it gets jailbroken so I can transfer my own rips, or until there is a compelling enough library that I can't not have it.
I...I must agree. Second analog stick means shooters done right. But will the developers put console-like resources into a mobile game enough to make it COD in the fullest sense of the name? Increased power means increased costs. I wonder if developers (outside of Sony's 1st party) are really going to jump head-first into this thing.MercuryLS said:Mark my words, portable COD will be a game changer.
