Had an odd thought re: flash card storage.
Does this mean that the PSP2 (or whatever) will actually load games faster than the PS3 and not require mandatory installs?
That would be hilarious if that proved to be the case.
As an aside, with the apparent level of detail they're able to pull off with a lowly ARM CPU, it's gotta be a hard sell trying to continue to push the ridiculously power-hungry, alien architecture of the Cell processor as something anyone would want to invest in in the future, as Sony keep insisting was part of their road map for Cell all along.
I am very curious, though, to see what the battery life is.
If Nintendo couldn't get the 3DS' above 6 hours, even with Nintendo's track record of placing a high priority on extending battery life, and that system only has last gen+ shaders level graphics...
Though, to be fair, Sony pulled off an amazing feat, making the original PS3 pretty damn silent, even managing an internal PSU, when compared to the original 360's jet engine external power brick. Hell, my launch 60 gig is still quieter than my brand new redesigned 360 S. One thing Sony *does* know is how to make streamlined consumer electronics.
Looking forward to the (hopeful) PSP price drops. Might finally pick one up.
