Those who preordered and are going to cancel please just cancel now so someone else who is really excited about VR can get it day one. You're double parking in front of an open parking spot when parking is scarce.
It will sell well but it's going to be like the move and kinect, I hope I am wrong but i trust my gut feeling we need another decade.
I have the same feeling.... obviously lol but I don't think the issue is primarily time, rather the implementation of it.
If it was a pack in with every single ps4 it would succeed, I hope a rendition is with the ps5.
If it sells like the Move (15 million) or Kinect (25 million), I will be happy. Virtusl Boy numbers might be a lot closer, unfortunately. It will sell well but it's going to be like the move and kinect, I hope I am wrong but i trust my gut feeling we need another decade.
When is the embargo up on PS VR and the games?
I just saw this very positive reaction to the PSVR from a guy called UKRifter who has a YouTube channel dedicated to the Oculus, Vive and VR in general.

What will business users use PC vr for? Spreadsheets?
I can see VR being used for training, Absolutely would work great in that environment.
I think users on this forum think of success as massive consumer success because that's what every single tech blog and site and magazine has been selling for the past couple of years. Everyone is going to love it, it's going to sell huge and change everything, every developer is on board. Instead, we've seen very low sales and hesitant developers.
I do think price is just the biggest obstacle here, for pc and psvr . It's just too high for most people for a single person device.
I think that is the wrong way to think of VR.
Much like how mobile gaming didn't end PC or console gaming, VR doesn't need to be a replacement for, but in addition to. It doesn't need to have an 80% PS4 attach ratio to succeed. Every game that comes out in 2017 doesn't need to be playable in VR for it to succeed.
It is, and should be looked at, as a medium to expand the scope of gaming rather than as a medium to replace some of current gaming. It does enough that is new that makes it different from a bolt-on that was Kinect and Move.
PSVR has sold out, and every gaming product from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will continue to sell out almost instantly. We are in a different age now of capitalism from scalpers and people ordering without thinking just get an order in before the scalpers.
well said...I think that is the wrong way to think of VR.

PS4 pro isn't sold out.
By your logic, that must mean...
right now, PSVR isn't being marketing at the general consumer though. The main unit is the one without the move controllers or camera, because millions of people already have both. This is for the enthusiast first, and later price drops will be for the general public.Sure, that is an option but here are the issues that pose that alternative form of gaming entertainment, again think of this from the general public point of view, im just being the devils advocate here;
- why have something that is an occasional use device that is meant to compliment gaming cost more than the gaming system itself?
-why does it need a PS4 yet I cant play PS4 games on it in VR? ( 2d static mode asside )
- why do I need to buy different games for it?
- why do I need to buy a camera and new controllers for it?
VR right now, is priced higher than any platform that has ever launched ( besides PS3 ) in Canada. The precised value for what it is is far from there, this will be a huge issue. I get it, people have disposable income from entertainment but this is at an entirely new level.
realistically what are the chances i walk into a store in toronto sometime this year and get to buy one?
send me a PM. I do have a pre order I am keeping for a just in case moment. If I decide to pass ill just sell you at cost rather than returning if they are hard to get. I am from milton.
The true hype and anticipation is clear if your looking logically for it. People are cancelling at a huge rate and this is even before it launches, unprecedented for something that is destined to succeed. This will sell and get support at a level even worse than the Vita. I'm sorry but the writing is on the wall.

I'm a bit annoyed by how good this is

Out soon but I haven't seen any advertisement for it, at all. No idea what the launch games are and there certainly isn't a big system seller.
I'm interested, but really haven't heard of anything interesting to play on it from the usual channels when a new console or something is launching.
Have seen ads for the new PS4 though, that's it.
So how much do you reckon the scalpers are going to be looking to profit on this one?![]()

well no, I mean slims/oneS never really gathered that much enthusiasm. Neo is along the same lines.

Do you think the market research was wrong on VR in general?
We know it's stagnant on PC. But for months before releasing it was very very hyped. Back theb VR excitement overshadowed any shortcomings, similar to how any product that that's new is accepted. PSVR was created in and around that time. I wonder what sony really thinks this thing will do now?
Ah, I see. So is anticipation for the PS4 Pro clear? What does buyer enthusiasm say about the support it will receive? Have you been looking logically for it?
I'm looking for scoops and you seem very certain with your claims.
And just for clarification, by "writing is on the wall" you do mean you writing on the walls of every PSVR thread with your eager condescending pessimism right?

I half of what he said is true, we're in for a treat. Screen door effect is one of my major concerns.
Q: When can I buy PS VR?
In North America, PlayStation VR preorders opened in March and have sold out. But there will be units available at participating retailers nationwide on launch day, October 13, 2016. Click here to learn more.
Q: How can I pre-order PS VR?
Our three separate waves of pre-orders for PS VR have concluded. If you were not able to pre-order, we are planning to have units available to purchase at retailers nationwide once the device is available on October 13, 2016.
Q. Do you have plans to offer PS VR games on PlayStation Plus?
We have nothing to share at this point in time, but we are looking into it.
Preorders are sold out, everywhere, and they still have not opened up yet even if we assume that your theory about mass cancellations is true. Which means demand is still so high it cannot be served until (from what it looks like) 2017.
You can still pre-order for day one in the UK
We will be fulfilling customer orders in the order in which they were placed and expect to fulfil all customer pre-orders by December 12th, 2016.
It will sell well but it's going to be like the move and kinect, I hope I am wrong but i trust my gut feeling we need another decade.
I'll make a prediction.
A lot of cancelations. Then when impressions come in from the mainstream (playing it at their enthusiast gamer-friend's house) about how fuck awesome it is, and how Jimmy Fallon can't stop talking about it, and then all the ads and game announcements and threads for them...these same cancellations will be chomping at the bit to get in on the action.
Also, the Pro will be seen as mostly a waste of everyone's time.
Where is that mate. I thought all the first waves had gone. You can still pre-order for day one in the UK
The move just seemed reactionary to try and capitalize on the wiis success. Again, were there any real move games? As far as I remember it was just tacked on to existing games.
