Has there been any PS2 game emulated on PS4 so far that offered widescreen support where the original game didn't?It's listed as a PS2 Classic on the store, so I wouldn't expect more than widescreen, 1080p rendering and trophy support.

To be fair I can't remember if the game on PS2 had widescreen support or not. Some of the youtube videos I've found are all 4:3. Someone with the PS3 version of the PS2 classic could check this too.
Seems like higher resolution but is way choppier than I remember. Don't buy this expecting a new experience or something, it's just nice to have on my ps4 really. 5 years since my last playthrough so I will play through it anyways![]()
I have the Mac version, and feel that it's a technical mess tbh. I just can't get it running at stable framerate no matter how low I set the resolution. You're probably better off just getting the game on Steam, it'll play on damn near anything looking and performing better than this weird PS2 version, on a PC or Mac.
The game is running in widescreen for me. I don't believe the original did.
EDIT: Pre-rendered cutscenes are widescreen as well. It doesn't look stretched or zoomed as far as I can tell.
So what exactly is this?
An enhanced port of the PS2 version?
What about the cutscenes? If they are not stretched, they are either re-rendered in widescreen now, or their top and bottom would have to be cropped, and the resulting upscaling macroblocking would be insanely bad. It's the same as all the other PS2 games on PS4, only they decided to force the game to render in widescreen. Whether or not this means older PS2/PS4 games will be updated for widescreen, I'm not sure.
I can confirm the game still runs at a choppy framerate, but load times have only lasted a few short seconds so far.

Also, forcing widescreen through emulation is not trivial at all. That's actually a pretty exciting development.
Is this a good game? Never played it. Also does it have a platinum?
watching a guy on playstaion live right now and it looks jankyDamn so any impressions? Its in my cart, about to pull the trigger...

The resolution bump and widescreen are nice, but the hud looks blurry and stretched, and there's really annoying hitches in the frame rate. It's playable but the game deserves much better.

Double Fine is working on the PS4 VR Rhombus of Ruin and Psychonauts 2 in tandem, with the former scheduled to be released first.Off Topic but have we been given any updates on Psychonauts 2?
Nothing has been announced.Isn't this game getting a remake/remaster too?
I've played through a fair chunk of it so far.
It's not as good as the latest build of the PC version. It's essentially the PS2 version at a higher resolution.
The framerate's choppy on occasion and the audio seems like it's out of sync at times (it's cut out entirely on two occasions). Not all of the textures translate well, which is to be expected given the age of the game.
The game is presented in a widescreen aspect rafio for the entire experience. However, the cutscenes look like they're at a lower resolution than the gameplay portions.
I'd be delighted to see Double Fine go back and "remake" Psychonauts in the same way they remade Grim Fandango, and include the tweaks they made to the final level, but doing so would take resources away from their current slate of projects.
PC version is best, yes, as you can run at 60fps.What's the best version of this game, is it the PC release? I have this on xbox and steam but not got around to playing it.

Is this PS4/PC only or is it also coming out for X1?
