First leaks of RX Vega Air gaming benches (295W TDP):

Interesting but it can means anything depending the games used in the compilation.

Anyone know what 8/14 means in terms of time? Should we expect to see stuff go up at midnight? Any idea on which time zone that might be?

Except these are huge die chips competing with NV mid sized dies. NV is killing amd on margins. That's why nvs shareholders are pretty happy and amds aren't. You can't really spin this as any sort of win for amd.

Yeah, this is not a win for AMD in any sense of the word. Late, power hungry, with mediocre performance.

I still don't understand why it took so long to get this out the door. There's almost nothing different compared to what was shown earlier this year.

Not terrible, but not impressive, either.

I'll get an Air if I can snag at one at MSRP.

The writer of the review said the wattage chart is GPU only. System power draw is not included. 500+ watts max draw with the liquid cooled 64 running flat out is crazy.

The Civ VI benchmark is obviously CPU bound. Nvidia getting 10 fps more out of the same CPU in the game.

To say that violates the PCI-e specifications would be putting it lightly.

Judging by how little the performance deviates compared to the turbo in the core clock frequency trend chart, the +50% power hits either the temperature or power limits hard. I wonder if it topped out at 516 because that's all it needed or because that's all it could pull.

It's $699?!??!?!

Yeah. It's only available as part of a bundle. I mean, I'm sure that'll change sooner rather than later, but that's the situation as it currently stands.

Edit: $599 for a standard SKU would make it fit snugly between the AC/1080 and 1080 Ti, but there's no ruling out AMD trying its luck with $649.

Across all games in that review, the Air more or less seems to match a non-overclocked 1080 FE. While apparently consuming 327W in-game on just the GPU.

If you run a 1080 at ~275W it's about 15% faster than a stock FE.

That power consumption. I'm surprised that the VRMs can take that amount of power.

edit: Someone really needs to undervolt these things soon and see how they perform... but since the BIOSes are signed now... :(

Still no specs for Vega Nano? Been debating to myself about the mini cards (1070 mini, 1080 mini, 1080Ti mini), I don't really overclock, but I do want to get a hefty performance without drawing too much power (the fact that 1080Ti mini uses 2 8pins scare me). Kinda juggling with the idea if my next upgrade will be with the Vega Nano, or with the ZOTAC 1080 (non-Ti) mini. I'm hoping the pricing is at least competitive.

I'm shocked at that power consumption. Was expecting much better from that small of a lithography. Dammit AMD...

On the bright side, that power consumption means Miners wont want the card unless it has some amazing Hash power and I think that one rumor was a complete fabrication (it is no where near 70 rate).

About this graph, I don't know the true performance for the Vega cards yet but I know that the GTX 1080Ti FE can't improve 23% from OC.

The Graph shows 12.89% from OC.

Disgusting. $100 mark up. I guess I'll hold out for the 56 in two weeks.

It makes sense to wait for AIBs anyhow (bar, perhaps, liquid cooled version)
56 is expected in Sept.

Iirc the 8 pin is rated to 150w max. Which means there is approximately a power draw of 200 watts from the pci-e slot which is a bit crazy if not impossible.

That's not how it works. The PCI-e slot is 75W, although 10W of that is at 3.3V. A 8-pin is specced at 150W (though you can exceed this with ease), so with two of them like Vega 64 you get 300W.

It's crazy to expect the 56 won't be similarly marked up on AIB boards. Miners will snap these up in that price range without hesitation.

56 is looking good but I doubt I'll be able to find one anytime soon. Maybe I'll wait for Navi/volta if this mining thing keeps going off the rails.

AMD shut it down

Yeah. Videocardz was kind enough to grab the charts though:

But why? It seems 70-100MH/s was a lie according to pcper:
Nothing has changed from Vega FE.

This means 30-35MH/s, if I am not mistaken, so, why would miners bother.

If the 64 really draws more than 500W I'm not going to bother and buy a 1080ti instead. Bought a new power supply (750W) for the Fury X back then but I won't do that again.

How long until the embargo ends?

Oh here we go. So it went from having a high power draw to now 'Vega 64 draws more than 500W'. Let's be sensible please. It's not very efficient but that figure was from the LE with a +50% power limit.

Even if it were to draw 500W (which is bollocks) that 750W would still be enough...

Miners: Newegg one per costumer? Okay, we'll go straight to the source! 2000 please! Thank you!

And the poor cards are enslaved from any gaming fun, whipped daily in the cryptomines never to see daylight again. Poor things.

*Small miners are okay, they unionize their cards, and give them some gaming on the side and plenty of hugs and cuddles.
