What's a good place to start for this bands discography?

Chronological order is always a good way, but with this band, I think In Rainbows or Hail to the Thief are nice places to start. Especially the second one is nice for learning which side of the band you like most.

Director Chris Hopewell says ""The whole video was conceived, designed, built and animated in 14 days." That is insane.

Oh, those sweet hyperbolic comments fueled by the new song smell haha. TKOL is severely underrated IMO.

Agreed. So much trash talking it in this thread. Album was pretty unique, great rhythms and showcases how Radiohead like to play around with unique sounds.

This song is pretty good too. Didn't blow me away, but it is a pleasing song. Looking forward to the new album.

Honestly just listen to them all in order and know that their sound changes quite a bit after a few records if you're really not feeling the first few for whatever reason. I think it's nice to have context on where a band came from and how their sound evolved if you can. And it's not like they've got a GIANT discography.

I can definitely see Hail to the Thief being a good entry point, not because it's their best album (this is not a dig at people who think that though), but because it's such a smorgasbord of all of Radiohead's sounds up until that point. So from there you can decide which songs you like best and people can direct you to other Radiohead albums you might enjoy. Of course, if you have the time, going through their entire discography chronologically is a rewarding endeavor.

Btw I'm just noticing that bits of Colin's bass on BtW remind me a fair bit of Airbag. Fun.

pablo honey is awesome

you, vegetable, lurgee, blowout, stop whispering, anyone can play guitar > *

Yup.

It's certainly better than TKOL.

It's harder to rank in my opinion just because I feel like The Bends absolutely perfected that sound, so it's a bit redundant to have PH there too. It's still a fucking good disc, though, and it gets way too much hate from Radiohead fans.

Lol at all these people defending Pablo honey but not mentioning creep as a good song. It's ok to like things that are popular.

I like Creep, too...

But yah, the Radiohead stans are probaby like "Well Radiohead doesn't like it anymore and doesn't like to perform it so therefore I don't like it!"

I like it, but it must've been hard to choose a single from this album if this is what they picked. It sounds like it'll be one big, cohesive piece. Like a concept album. Guess we'll see!

So I preordered Robert Eggers's 2015 horror masterpiece The Witch the other day, and I'm kind of worried to find out exactly how much control Thom has over me. I quite like that movie and I'd prefer to keep the disc intact.

Mannnn, I've heard it all now.

Pablo Honey's a great album, but it's very much stuck in the 90's. And it sounds like some of ya'll are too. The Bends is that sound perfected while still remaining timeless. And if I was trying to get into Radiohead for the first time and someone told me to start with Pablo Honey in two thousand fucking sixteen, I'd never listen to them again.

That being said, my first RH album was Hail to the Thief and then I went from the beginning. So that's also a good place to start.

Music doesn't get worse from being old. Pablo Honey is solid and always has been. TKOL is alright too, but it comes with the added burden of disappointment.

You can start with Ok Computer for the best balance of their new and old sound then move in either direction you want from there.

Don't ignore Pablo Honey like most people love to parrot. It is a good listen and has some great 90s Brit Pop guitar

On topic: I liked the song and will look forward to hearing more. What a disconcerting sound.

OKC is their most difficult record IMO.

Hail to the Thief is the record that really unlocked the band for me.

I have a hard time to this day enjoying Hail to the Thief as an album. It has great songs but I can't listen to it straight through like many of their other albums. You never know which album will click the best which is the best part of the band

Fuck all'a'yall who are trying to say that TKOL is worse than Pablo Honey or even a bad album in general, I guess it's short compared to the wait for it but every song on it except maybe Feral owns (and even then Feral is a nice ambient track)

Agree with the bolded...
