The backstory:
When RB6:Siege was first shown at E3 2014, I enjoyed what they showed but I was pretty sure I wouldn't be picking up the game based on it being a multiplayer focused title and my friends being very finicky about what games they play/pick up.
I kept looking at footage of the game and how it progressed, changing it's presentation massively but keeping the core elements they presented alive and well.
I then got a beta invite in 2015 and managed to play a couple of hours on one of the days and while I really enjoyed what I played, I was again sure that without playing this with friends I should not be picking it up and I also felt that the gaming community as a whole would pass over the game, since the beta showed some problems with gameplay and balance which people were very sure at the time Ubisoft would not fix till release.
Lo and behold, release day comes around and one of my friends actually got the game which prompted me to follow and play together.
Immediately I could tell that Ubisoft had taken many criticisms from the beta to heart and switched things around and I started to greatly enjoy not just playing through the situations to get renown to unlock new operators, but of course to play the actual PvP multiplayer.
Many many times I would get my entirely random team to communicate over in-game VOIP and strategize, call out and work together and the rounds we played were sometimes so intense I was shaking after it ended (in either defeat or victory).
Then Ubisoft had a "free weekend" (they gave out codes to every owner they could give to their friends) and 2 more of my friends loved the game so much they picked it up. 2 more would quickly follow suit and by now Siege has become our go-to multiplayer game where 3-5 of us basically play together every day.
Some of the most intense, tactical, actiony and sometimes hilarious moments in my last couple of gaming years have come from this game over just the 1 1/2 months it has been out.
The evidence:
I do not wish to advertise my channel here, but allow me to post 4 rounds of me and my friends playing as examples of gameplay
In this round we work together to breach in, plant the defuser and then keep it safe till we win. This is the kind of teamwork experience that happens basically every round in the game, not just with friends but also with randoms on VOIP.

This round shows one of those "shaking at the end" situations where I end up having to play 1vs3 and winning the round for my team. I know these moments aren't unique to Siege, but it still feels absolutely fantastic and not every game can produce this feeling.

Then you have rounds like these where your team and you just work together so well, you actually beat the enemy team through intel, skill and tactics and don't lose a single man during it. These rounds just feel absolutely amazing afterwards.

And then of course you have the hilarious rounds where weird stuff just happens (or doesn't at all I guess)

The epilogue:
I love the way that each Operator has a unique ability and equipment, intro video and personality, making them almost MOBA champion-esque.
I love that the maps in the game (11 of them) are big, have tons of different approaches and because of the reinforcement and defending mechanics (like shields and barbed wire and barricades) they are different every round and you can approach them differently depending on who is on your or the enemy team.
I love that depending on which gun and equipment I choose for my operator, even though the actual amount of options is small, it can really change your playstyle depending on who you play as.
I love the drones and the cameras in the game and how providing intel is one of the most important things in the game. This includes the superb audio design that allows you to accurately tell where and how far away things are happening. The audio even changes depending on the holes in the walls!
Most of all,I love that I found a game again that me and my friends play every day and we not only get better at it, but we still find new things in the maps and new approaches basically every day. A single little hole in a wall that you can see through can completely change the outcome of a round.
The game, in my opinion, is great and can only get better and bigger from here (all DLC for the game is free. All maps, all modes, all operators)
The verdict:
The game has been growing it's community (according to steamcharts.com and steamspy.com) since release and after the holidays were over, ubisoft has been properly releasing patches (on PC first no less!) ,fixing server issues and communicating very openly with the community.
If you were wary about the game based on previous promotional videos or some early reviews (many influenced by the beta experience) then I urge you to check the game out now. It is a fantastic multiplayer game, whether on console or PC and the "just one more round/match" vibe with this is as strong as Counter-Strike used to be for me years ago.
I'm not going to tell you that you will love it as I do, but I damn sure ask you to take a chance.
