You people putting that moist as sitcom Last Crusade at number one are off your goddamn nut, and I will never understand you

There wasn't a fourth instalment. It's just pure coincidence that someone made a science fiction movie with Ford playing some guy named Indiana Jones, too. Doesn't make it an Indiana Jones movie.

Crusade turning Marcus and Sallah into complete buffoons is unforgiveable. And Indy pretending to be the art connoisseur is weak shit.

The movies get worse as they go. Still fun, but they get worse. All there is too it. At least Temple is a little bit MEAN.

Raiders > Doom > Cruzade >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Skull

Kingdom of the crystal skull was painfull to watch.

Given the embarrassing number of ethnic stereotypes in Doom, I need some explanation as to why you think anyone should feel differently.

It was explained upthread pretty cleanly by another poster, and I know I've described my feelings on it before. But I didn't put Doom at number one, so it doesn't really matter, does it. My post is about how ridiculous I think it is anyone would think Last Crusade is better than Raiders.

A fair amount of people here think that, and I've never understood why some of you kids are so eager to take an apologetic sitcom knockoff of Raiders over the best action film ever made.

It'd be like taking New Super Mario Bros over Super Mario 3, if I had to reach for a lame gaming parallel.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - 10/10

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade - 9.5/10

Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom - 8.5/10

Indiana Jones & The Nuking of the Fridge - 3/10

Tbf it's been several years since seeing 4 and I saw 2 last month. But dear god 2 is so horrible. I don't know if you all have watched it recently but it's almost shocking how bad it is.

I made it to Shia swinging with monkies in the jungle to catch up with a Jeep in the latest one before turning off my TV.

1>3>2/4

I go back and forth on which I dislike more between 2 and 4. The fourth one had Mutt and a bunch of CG and old ass Indy, but 2 had Willie, who ruins every fucking scene she's in and about sinks the entire movie for me.

People throwing shade at Temple of Doom are off their rockers. Besides the obvious iffy ethnic stuff, it's easily the best non-Raiders Indy movie. It's got some of the best setpieces in the series (musical opening, spike pit, the fuckin mine cart chase, the rope bridge), awesome art direction, creepy cult stuff and hearts being yanked out, and Indy being annoyed by Willie is never not amusing. Lost Crusade, as much as I like it, feels pretty stodgy and really goofy in comparison.

Can people stop being wrong please?

Temple has the best opening:

With bonus Dan Aykroyd cameo:

As annoying as Willie is (although that's the whole point, deal with it), their interactions have the best sexual chemistry of the series:

It's got the best villain of the series and it's not even close:

JgaB4RB.gif

It's got Indy looking at his most bad-ass:

Everyone loves this bit:

and of course, it's got THE iconic shot/silhouette of the character:

That IS Indiana Jones and those ten seconds are better than the entirety of Last Crusade.

That's without mentioning the music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnYIO-4l75M

Not to mention that, unlike the other movies, it also shows genuine character development as we see Indy transformed from selfish "fortune and glory kid, fortune and glory" at the beginning into the person who will later tell treasure hunters that "it belongs in a museum"

Raiders - Just perfect from beginning to end.

Crusade - Because of the Connery/Ford chemistry alone and I liked the lighter flare.

Temple - Amazing set pieces and sequences even though it has some glaring issues (pacing/characters). It's saved by perfectly-executed spectacle and the best finale (20 minutes or so) in the series (by a mile I might add).

Skull - Also glaring issues but I don't hate this movie like some. Temple and Skull are close for me TBH with similar problems, Skull just lacked the action set pieces to save it though it had some good moments. It's just up against some damn good movies that did things amazingly well.

ToD and KotCS are underrated, while TLC is pretty overrated. They're all enjoyable, although none of the sequels are even close to being in the same ballpark as the original.

So much work put into being wrong.

Shame really…

That's the only valid ranking, OP. Raiders might be the best movie overall, the one that will people remember more and THE Indiana Jones movie, but Last Crusade has a lot of personality and the chemistry between Indy and his dad is just wonderful, plus it has some funny moments and it's more of a globe-trotting adventure.

The Indy, Henry, Sallah and Marcus team is something I always wanted to watch more of. Whenever I watch The Last Crusade and the end credits roll, I get kind of sad while watching the four of them riding into the sunset...
