First Cousin: How would shit not get awkward within your family? Not for me Clive. In very isolated circumstances than good for them I guess but it's not something that should be encouraged really.
2nd cousins and past that: I couldn't name any of my 2nd cousins, let alone anything else. I never really knew any of my great aunts/uncles. so there's a slim possibilty that this could happen to me one day.

Several people in my community have married their cousins. And I'm not talking about the older generation like my parent or grandparents, but my own generation as well. People who have been raised in the U.S. for longer than even I have (I came here when I was 4). I'm not sure how the hell they went along with that shit when they should have known better.
One of my cousins married his second cousin and they got divorced about two years later. As you could probably imagine, the family reunions tend to be awkward as fuck.

Agreed. On the US internet in particular (well, Reddit) there is a heavy stigma around it, but as long as it isn't repeated over continuous generations I don't think it is that dangerous, genetic counselling and stuff exists too to make it as safe as possible as well.
By the time you're getting to 2nd and 3rd cousins anyway the relation is getting quite diluted.
And as said above Einstein did it, and so did Darwin, arguably the most influential people in their fields!
I have a feeling a person's outlook on this topic is heavily influenced by that haha.

Outside the USA, cousing marriage is no big deal. So I don't have any problem with this. A have a friend of mine whose parents are cousins.
If banging your cousin is okay, then why not your sister? Or your mom? Where do you draw the line?
Take the legality out of it. What makes having sex with one family member less disgusting than the other?

A professor at my school talked about making out with his cousin in class once. It was in some attempt to contextualize a cousin relationship in a book we were reading.. Really funny dude actually, good friends with his daughter who is same year as me.
