Rare Replay shows how bad Ps2 games are on Ps4

I'm going to throw mad cash at these PS2 games. If this is successful I'm hoping that Sony does something similar for PS1 games.

PS1 games with trophy support sounds delightful.

It's a poor man's FF12. It's a good game, but it basically does nothing better. I feel like the only reason people hold it to high regard is that it was localized so late on the PS2's life.

Not sure why you would compare the two since they're drastically different in setting, gameplay, and art style.

So basically by comparing it to Rare Reolay you are saying quantity is more important than quality. Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud are in an entirely different league than the vast majority of titles available in RR. Maybe you could argue the Banjo games are comparable. Maybe. Your premise is ridiculous and thus is coming from someone who thinks charging for previously purchased titles is reprehensible in the first place.
It's not about this at all. Rare Replay is not bad at all. It's about abusing Sony's place in the market and we all know this. There is no reason they need to charge 15. These games were already made

There is no justifiable reason in it other than sonny seeing higher profit margins than they actually need. It's Ludacris.

Let them do it this time and we will re-buy again on ps5. Why do we need to be done wrong?

There is no damn sense on why one game has to be 15 and another 10. They are basically admitting to ripping you off in saying oh we know you want it. One and we can make more money. They are acting like a damn ebay seller.

You can't really compare the two things, but, yes, Rare Replay is a great deal, and PS2 games on PS4 are a terrible deal.

I'd rather have Dark Cloud at $15 than Rare Replay at $30.

You know the details of their business meetings and publisher contracts?

Maybe, but Rare Replay didn't really sell well. Especially for something with 30 games that cost $30. It doesn't really send a great message to Sony either way.

Rare Reply is a shinning example but its not a realistic one for anyone else. Microsoft had a unique opportunity because they own the license to all these games, Sony does not.

have you given up on being compensated for ps+ games you already own? is this your new crusade?
Plus ends this month. Had it for years. But Sony ripping me off here will probably end my plus and Sony buys. After 81 ps1 titles and 100s of digital titles.

I'd rather put my money into a physical collection and buy used. I'd rather stick to what is right and work with gamers.

I absolutely love psw games. But what Sony is doing is not the way. Stick to the topic of you can.

Overly dramatic. These threads are so embarrassing and utterly disturbing.

Agreed.

Getting annoyed at people comparing the Xbone backwards compat with this, too.

Serious question, does the Bone play original Xbox games? Because that would be an apt comparison.

I honestly cant understand how this is damaging the industry, and we must all unite to stop big bad Sony from destroying it.

Its $15 ps2 games with trophies.

Sooooo, you know this thing called capitalism, right?

Man I don't know where all this love of Rogue Galaxy came from.

Wat

Rogue Galaxy had an actual combat system. FFXII was program your Gambits and let the game play itself. How are they even remotely similar?

I thought it did well in the UK charts and U.S.?

I don't know about the UK but in the US it charted in its opening month, but it turned out to be a pretty weak month. I think the estimate was a couple hundred thousand units. It's not bad but given the value and the name recognition, I feel like it should have done better.

Not gonna lie, I'd take a cleaned up Einhander with trophies at a reasonable price.

G-Police and Raystorm/Crisis too.

Colony Wars too.

Misleading thread title. Was hoping for something more than complaining.

I'll gladly pay $30 for Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud.

Or people like things that you dont? Having played both FF12 and RG, I liked RG more.

Even if people think of it as a lesser game than FF12, people can still love it and want to play it O_o

Have MS upscale Xbox games and achievements.

Then come back and talk.

....360 games already have achievements though

Considering that it's a $30 game, a couple hundred thousand in the U.S. sounds pretty good. Don't know where you got that estimate from though.

But... It plays nothing like ff12.

Viva Pinata is my favorite game by Rare from the Microsoft era and is worth at least 15 bucks on its own. This is nonsense.

To be fair he said most, not all.

A lot of the rare replay games to me seem like a shot of nostalgia. Load up Snake Rattle n Roll, play for 10-15mins with a smile on my face thinking, this game is/was great, and then I'm good for another 10 years.

There is a big difference between Rare Replay and PS2 Games on PS4 :l.

Rare Replay:
-Collection of games using emulation and a few native releases (Battletoads Arcade and Grabbed by the Goulies are the only ones I could think of for this)
-Emulation for N64 (frame rate issues for Conker and Jet Force Gemini for example) and 360 games problematic (Banjo Nuts & Bolts has bad frame rate issues running on X1)
-N64 games got little editing to them; Jet Force Gemini gets the most extensive overhawl due to new control option being added however.
*Not counting Banjo 1, 2 and Perfect Dark for N64 games; emulated 360 versions of the games in Rare Replay

PlayStation 2 Games on PS4:
-Games up-scaled to 1080p
-Locked 30FPS or 60FPS depending on game
-Trophies added to the titles
*Emulator does not support PS2 Classics nor PS2 Disks (though 360 games are supported on X1; can play 360 Rare games without booting Rare Replay (I think) for example)

There are some big differences and I feel that your point is value, not quality of emulation or anything like that.

If that is the case, then you are right; 15 bucks is a lot of money for PS2 games wheres with Rare Replay you are getting 30 of them for 30 bucks.....but considering two of the early PS2 games coming to PS4 are JRPG's, it makes the 15 bucks easier to deal with (JRPG's last a very, very long time).

Either way, they are not out yet (outside of the PS2 Star Wars games) and hopefully we learn more about this during PSX tomorrow. Until then, we cannot fairly judge PS2 games on PS4 now :l.

So basically your argument has absolutely nothing to do with the OP it the title of the thread? Allllllrighty then

Some gamers live for that.

A shame. I understand the disappointment and I think they should at least have and upgrade program. That said some of the users on this forum are just using this as an opportunity. They want this to be the next big outrage. Although I'm sure after tomorrow the noise will quiet down.

Some are acting like their PS2 games are obsolete and Sony is literally forcing them to buy these games again.

Wait, you're complaining about Sony charging $10-$15 for PS2 games but at the same time you're hoping MS will bring the same titles to the X1 for $10? What?
