Rayman Legends: Leaked Wii-U Trailer

You assume nintendo didnt plan and/or plan this leak?

I hope the Pad player is an actual character player instead of what the trailer showed where they just move platforms etc. I don't want the bucket bitch from FFCC to return >:(
It can be but I like this mode. Be great for the little kids who want to join in but can't platform.

Of course the first leaked Wii U game isnt a game to show us if its really on par or better than the current HD consoles. :D
Yes it is. Visuals looked at least as good as 360/PS3 and the controller options and NFC just chat be done on the HD twins. All up it's already leaps and bounds above what a current gen game could offer.

The new shading style looks pretty good. I'm glad they're not just straight up recycling the graphics from Origins.

they can probably include an nfc accessory like skylanders.

It's not entirely clear from the video, but it appears that the U Pad can be used as a controller, too. When the man and woman are playing together, two characters are being controlled on-screen, so assuming that's not a single-player game with an AI partner, then the pad can be used either supplementary or a stand-alone controller.

what the? is this your first time seeing a Wii U?

A leak one day after the investor's conference? I call shenanigans. Either Nintendo allowed the leak and are now plugging it back up to make it seem leaky, or this video was getting passed around by other developers and someone leaked it that way.

Not sure about the cord, that makes me wonder if maybe the video was intended for last year's E3? Yet that black square on the back of the Wii U looks like a new addition and is probably for the TV's sensor bar like the Wii Remote.

As for it not using 2 tablets, that's still in question. Even if it's now possible, I don't picture many launch games utilizing two in a meaningful manner. Nintendo obviously wants to push Wii Remote usage 1) To make the system seem more affordable and 2) To get the existing user base to upgrade. I'm also guessing that $70 for a new tablet is low-balling it. If Nintendo was thinking of not making them available for retail, it might be more like $100. I do wonder if Nintendo will release a revised Classic Controller Pro that doesn't need the Wii Remote at all, since I picture a lot of games using that set-up.

So this NFC stuff, the figurines need some kind of data chip for the tablet to pick it up, right? Meaning it won't ever be programmed to just recognize any existing object? Sounds like a smart plan by Nintendo, basically expanding their business into a toy line. I can see Nintendo branded figurines in stores' toy aisles this X-mas.

Well, when Skylanders was announced/released, many expected and wondered if Nintendo could do something like it, but with Pokémon.

So, now you could also not only trade Pokémon in-game, but as figurines with friends/people. And because data is stored inside (level, experience, movesets, original owner) it would be the closest to trading Pokémon "in real life".

Trading figurines for every personal Pokemon would be stupid since your in-game Pokemon would grow in numbers higher than you could possibly manage with personalized Pokemon figures. The closest I see happening is trading "pokeballs" that contain the date of the Pokemon you want to trade.

It would be hilarious to see it backfire though when a pokeball "malfunctions" and only one of the traders gets a Pokemon.

Ubisoft apparently already in trouble with Universal over the trailer music, per Cheesemeister's Twitter feed:

Cheesemeister: @VOOK64 NBC Universal lawyers are gearing up to serve Ubisoft offices as we speak

Cheesemeister: @VOOK64 It's no joke, sadly.

Woah, when they put the heart thing on there was pretty cool. That has a lot of potential for many other games.

This has a bigger potential to be god awful, IMO. I do not want to see a trend of having to buy plastic junk to invade gaming. It's pretty much the same thing as "locked content", but now you gotta buy a space-eating plastic toy. So much worse.

No, they very specifically said it was undecided and could go either way. Which sort of takes a dump on your entire wall of text.
Specifically they said 2 was feasible but they had no plans to sell the pads standalone. They said that they envisioned players that wanted to play with 2 pads bringing their own pad from their WiiU to a friend's house.

man the Wii U would have been so much better if it allowed 4 wii u controllers. imagine all the possabilities.

Can someone explain to me where people are getting that there's a PS3/360 version aside from "This is Ubisoft. Of course it'll happen!"? Or is that all people are going on...?

Well, that's the whole "thing" about collecting figures. Same way that with Skylanders, some even own multiple figures of the same, for the sake of different levels, owners and experience...and/or just focusing on the ones you like or want to have/train.

Plus it would be an option; not something mandatory (unlike Skylanders were you need the figurine to play).

Well it says "Wii U exclusive features content" which kind of implies that there will a version of the game without these features.

That sounds incredibly idiotic. What happens if your pad breaks or stops working, do you have to buy a new wii u? Not even nintendo could be that dumb.

The trailer says "Wii U exclusive content", they wouldn't need to say this if it weren't on other platforms as well.

It'll be the exclusives that'll convince me to buy one. I won't buy a single multiplatform game for the system, especially given the PS4 and Nextbox will follow the year after.

Still, this is a good start. Here's hoping 3rd party games flourish a bit more on the Wii U.

It says Wii U exclusive content implying there will be content exclusively for the Wii U. Which means that there will be other versions that won't have this content. Which means that there must be other platforms to support these other versions. Which means a PS3/360 version is likely.

The difference is the number of "creatures" in Skylanders is 1:1 since in order to play with a Skylander you need its figurine. But with Pokemon you can have numerous numbers of the same character and still only have one figure.

It would be a nice gimmick but that's all it would be since you'll surely outnumber your figurines eventually applying your concept.

If this is true, they will undoubtedly sell it as a replacement "part" from their online shop. Not ideal, but yeah, obviously retailers wouldn't stock Upads in the first place if they will so seldom be purchased independently of the consoles.

There could be confusion selling those Wii-U tablet controllers separately, there will be people who think it is its own Tablet PC system independant of the Wii-U core system
