Screw the wines, look at that haul of Naked juice! Grab em and run!I dunno what's good though, not wine-smart etc. It was def girly.
LOL I can't remember how it tasted, it smelled like strawberries for sure though.
Other interestingly packaged wine I had a few years back was Strut (the legs) and another one was Stiletto.
These girly wines were marketed to our equally girly company which was why.

Just got back from inventory at work. Been up since 3:30am, gonna take a nap for a few hours and then back to work at 5pm. Yay!
Fear not, I will keep you company in there until I pass out. (6:40PM still awake from yesterday's IRC sessions, lol)
Awake for 16 hours (work included), then slept 4 hours, and expected to be awake for another 16 hours. Tis a joyous life.
Stumbled onto Debussy... Such a great track to unwind to.

Well, in the end it just boils down to what you personally like. Some people sneer at the $10< wines, but my house wines rarely cost more than $7. They're just for casual glasses anyway. It's always good to try new ones and refine your tastes or explore, but whatever makes you happy is a good wine.
And, swing dancing is where it's at! Any swing dancers in here?!
Yeah thangs don't have to be expensive to taste good. Just gotta pair it right.
Had a few classes with swing segments but spent more time trying to memorize the footwork and routines than enjoying ourselves.

Did a safari in South Africa back in 2000, and the urge to go back just gets bigger and bigger as time goes by.

So true. As for swing, I didn't take any advanced classes or anything, so the 2-step wasn't hard to master. You can have crazy fun just knowing that if you get a good dance partner. Funny enough, the best guy I ever danced with was a short Chinese guy with a leg brace. I kid you not, he was AMAZING. So much fun!
I really want to. I didn't get to do anything big for my 30th, so I promised myself a trip this year, but with all the travel warnings and kidnappings even in major tourist areas (In Kenya! Can you believe it?) I may have to 'settle' for Australia o NZ.
Where did you go when you went? Any recommendations?

Most candy-themed beverages have a vodka base, for what it's worth. The aforementioned whipped cream vodka, the also aforementioned (and terrible) cookie dough vodka, the not-so-terrible cotton candy vodka, and of course Bakon Vodka, which is both terrible and wonderful.
There's also vodka whipped cream, which is whipped cream that has vodka in it, as opposed to the whipped cream vodka, which is vodka that tastes like whipped cream. Both make life worth living, but only if you're with other people. Drinking non-socially makes sad giraffe cry.

I'm very rusty. I learned some basics of stuff like Foxtrot, East Coast Swing (mas o menos the Lindy to you Westerners), Waltz, Victorian Waltz, Cha-cha, Rumba, Salsa, Tango and probably a couple others I can no longer remember. Oh, right, the Hustle, too. I taught a cute girl the basic hustle move at a Halloween party while I was in stilts.
* don't remember if I was actually ballroom dancing here; it was probably just freestyle with a few ballroom elements, which is what most of my dancing is like if there's a pretty girl around. This was during Kaleidoscope 2010, a multicoloured renegade parade in NYC. It's a great shot done by a really cool not quite pro level photographer, and it looks like we're totally posing, but we're not.
** The girls's name is not Raymond Haddad. Just saying...

The various ocean-spray cranberry cocktails are soooo good with vodka. Never tried it with whipped cream though I'll see how it goes.
Our swing segments were in the advanced classes, so we were more caught up in the memorization. Not our thing though, manfriend likes to keep his movements "manly" (waltz, or tango) and I understand.

Haha. None at all! The only PMs I usually get on neo are game/XSEED related. The sad face was more for having to work than drink alone (I think a glass of wine is a treat anyway, not a drown my sorrows or anything).
And, man, your picture is incredible. What timing to get that shot and you guys look like you're having such fun! I'd love to learn ballroom dancing (or any dancing really). Swing is the only thing I have any experience in (very amateur), but it's always fun when guys pick you up and throw you into the air.

Pilansberg National Reserve.
But as far as South Africa goes i would recommend the Kruger Reserve. Its HUGE and were we originally intended to go.
Going across the border to countries like Zimbabwe though... yeah its risky.

He doesn't like to hop around unless it's an irish jig, though the swing we do aint the "dancing with the stars on tv swing", it's more like the Fred Astaire old timey kind.

It's called living in New York. Shit ton of really great photographers, crapload of free, outdoorsy events where people can do fun stuff. Sometimes fire. Also a general policy of all-inclusiveness. You can be gay or furry or even a gamer, and we won't bat an eyelash. In fact, we thrive on the variety.
I'd love to learn ballroom dancing (or any dancing really). Swing is the only thing I have any experience in (very amateur), but it's always fun when guys pick you up and throw you into the air.
Pickups are not very amateur. You can learn a very, very large number of swing moves without ever doing it. If you got a teacher that taught lifts well, then you really lucked out. My sensei was an older fellow, so we didn't get any of that knowledge imparted to us.

New York and Long Island *own* ballroom dance. Almost every weekend of the year, you can go to a place, pay between twelve and fifteen dollars, get unlimited coffee and bagels and other munchies (on rare occasion, pizza!), and dance the night away. They also have a half-hour lesson that in most cases traditionally starts half an hour after the event begins.
Only downside is that they're typically couples events. And they trend pretty old, because people tend to get into dancing as a final-half-of-life hobby, when they have the time to kill.

Cha cha is more fun. So is the Cha Cha Slide, which has absolutely nothing to do with Cha cha.
Anyway, if you learn Cha cha, then you pretty much know Salsa, as the former is the latter with a little bit of an added hobble. This is a terrible way to compare the two, but it is sort of true.

Why, yes it is. I went all out for my last avatar of January. Headband, suspenders, wine bottle, perfect balance.
One day I will return to NY. I miss it so! As for the pickups, he just used me for a demonstration once or twice because I was the lightest. I didn't really do anything except try not to throw off his balance (felt a bit like a ragdoll).

As if there was ever doubt I'd survive the night. If the community watch people hadn't been out so much after the first fire then I would have done more - they do not seem to grasp my brand of fun. I really had my heart set on having two Molotov cocktails and running down the parking area signaling like Nicholas Cage from 'The Rock.'

Well last night was weird
- The podcast I'm on started a war with Idle Thumbs because one of our guys was playing Sean Vanaman in Words with Friends and we helped him think up words to win.
- Crazy night of IRC where now everyone who was there knows what happened, will never talk about it, and are family now in a weird, uncomfortable way where we're always going to remember what we were told.
- I think I fell asleep watching floe play I Wanna Be The Guy.

Man, I'd love to do ballroom dancing elsewhere. I quit the scene here half a year ago because I had been doing it for too long and wasn't really compatible with the crowd here in my city. I hear dancing has a different attitude in other cities...
Well, I find the competitive scene has a lot of younger dancers, so if you're into that... That being said, yes a lot of the events are couples events. Most university dance clubs have socials which tend to attract all sorts of people (including singles!).
Salsa is excellent. You should definitely do this!!

Oh, yes, I'm not discounting that. I just mean that if people go to a (structured) dance with intent to dance with cute young people, this is not the dance to do it at.
Probably what they'd be looking for would be something like contra dance, which is simpler thing to learn, has a massively younger audience, and you're guaranteed to dance with pretty much every girl in the room due to how it works.
Oh, as a side note, most science fiction conventions* have structured group dances of this nature (either contra or Victorian). Er, at least the ones on the East Coast do.
The nice thing is that you can also separate basic steps from associated moves because the moves are very commonly shared between dances. Rumba's a box step, but you still lift the arm to do a turn, and you still tug the hand to signal (like in pinball!) that the follower should spin out or in.
Easy, sexy dance thing that can be done with any step: With hands holding, facing the follower, lift your right arm and place it behind the follower's hear and simultaneously lift your left arm and put it behind your head. Then let go with your left hand and take a step or two to the left, sliding your right hand down your partner's right arm until those hands are locked. Then you can just pull the arm to the right and do awesome stuff where you're facing in the same direction. Please resist the urge to grind at this point!
* I'm making a distinction here between fan-run events at hotels, which I call "conventions", and those things like Comic-con and PAX and many Anime events, which seem to be more like expos.
