Someone wanna buy this for me, need it for work.

Old students are best students, they're way more fun and have a sense of humor when it comes to mistakes. They aint tryin to impress nobody.

Ooops, I missed this! I actually found old students to be not as fun since most of the ones I know don't put a lot of effort into it :( I find the perfect age to be late twenties to early thirties.

Gingerbread Android phones make me sad.

Planning on rooting it?

Probably.

I use custom roms with my phones most of the time. I wasn't really interested in the phone at first, but the loyalty points I have with my mobile network provider means I got a good deal.

Having looked at the reviews and benchmarks, it's not a bad phone really. The Galaxy SII is probably the better phone in some ways, but performance wise the XE is better. Of course the Nexus is better in that regard.

Well, I find the competitive scene has a lot of younger dancers, so if you're into that...

I have an purposefully-generated fear of competition. I don't like sports, I don't game online, I don't try to pick up a girl if I know somebody else is interested in her, even if I know I have an advantage (I actually gave an example of this in a post here yesterday), and I try to make it so that my friends seem to do really well when we're playing Mario Kart or whatevs. All of my activities strive to improve everybody, not just myself compared to everybody. I don't think this is a better way to do things. It's just how I do it.

So I miss out on a lot of cool stuff, like dancing that involves the kind of waists that raise my ... eyebrows.

That being said, yes a lot of the events are couples events. Most university dance clubs have socials which tend to attract all sorts of people (including singles!).

I come from SUNY @ Stony Brook, home of infinite hot asian girls and a very healthy social dance scene and absolutely no intersection between the two. :|

I can't do lifts :( Boo.

Just remember that dips are sexy, too. I have photographic proof! :D

As if there was ever doubt I'd survive the night. If the community watch people hadn't been out so much after the first fire then I would have done more - they do not seem to grasp my brand of fun. I really had my heart set on having two Molotov cocktails and running down the parking area signaling like Nicholas Cage from 'The Rock.'

Make sure you film it when you do for the reality gaf TV show. Be a helluva first episode.

Can you say 'the rain in Spain stays mainly in the plane' while in that pose?

I'll try it tonight, but I feel pretty confident. I walked back and forth to the kitchen with this thing on my head, after all. :D

...That is hella creepy-looking. Even snuggled in its soft innards you couldn't hide from the shame of using that in public. O_o

Ooo, I had looked into Kruger as on of my options. But, yeah, Zimbabwe... No where seems safe any more. :/

Ha as GAF's resident Zimbabwean representative you have been misinformed. The media has painted a picture of Zimbabwe that is far from the truth.
Its is a stunningly beautiful country with some of the best and friendliest people in the world, seriously the only people who truly suck are the politicians.
I was born and raised there and travel back every year, in fact I am heading back for one of the biggest music festivals in Africa in May HIFA . Youtube HIFA Zimbabwe for videos.

There was some currency instability (!) but since they switched over to the US$ in 2008 its become one of the easiest places for an American to travel around in Africa and also English is one of the official languages,
so there are no language issues at all. Its easy to be apprehensive because of what you read but seriously there has never really been a case of the safety of a country being so blown out of proportion.

Anyway if you really want more information about where to go in Africa that is really safe PM me and I can send you in the right direction. I have buddies who run safari companies and such and actually a good friend of mine
I think still runs a vineyard in Cape Town in South Africa.

Deal. I also need this clock:

So what you're saying is: I should change my relocation plans from So Cal to Stony Brook - got it.

I've seen this before, I love it. I just wish it wasn't that cork-like material. White on black would be an awesome fit for my flat.

It is still January, right? It's like 65 degrees and sunny outside right now near Atlanta. I'm about to go run a couple miles at the park.

It'd probably be cooler to blank an existing clock (find a plain coloured one with numbers that you can tear/sand off) and paint your own variant of this message.

No, I'm saying you need to go to Berkeley. Fuck me, I've never seen so many hot nerds in one place. And they're probably willing to dance.

Seriously? It's been around 30-40 degrees here in Saudi Arabia these past couple of weeks. SAUDI ARABIA.

Hell no, this place is so ill-equipped for dealing with that it's pathetic. Everyone overreacts so much. Like this pic I took at Walmart last year of the bread aisle.

I have never seen a city so ill prepared for even the slightest bit of ice. LOVE IT HERE.

Excellent! Thanks, aorange999. First-hand info is the best kind. I have heard some fairly negative things about the area, and every time I mention planning my trip I get the usual dire warnings to avoid Africa. I've always dreamed about seeing Botswana & Tanzania (that whole area, really), so I'm still keen on the idea, especially if you say I've been misinformed. Please do recommend to me any of your friends' safari/vineyard companies. I would love see/do everything there. :)

Honestly? Competitive dancing is great (even if it's just for fun) because it forces you to get better regardless. I used to do improve myself for the sake of improving myself, but I found that competitive forces were usually a more effective motivator.

That, and you get to show off the girl as well ;)

I can't do dips either :( I don't know what's wrong with me :P

So IRC has taken off? I might leave it minimised while I'm working rather than have stilted conversations on Skype and Gchat with friends pretending to work in offices.

My carrier finally pushed the Honeycomb update a couple of weeks ago for my Desire HD, I'd been sitting on Gingerbread for too long. Little sync problems started popping up too which have all magically been fixed in the update, it's very nice indeed.

Well, HTC are planning on updating the XE to 'Ice Cream Sandwich' early this year. No fixed date as yet though.

I use custom roms most of the time anyway.

I'm another non-competitive type. It's just not fun when something is competitive, plus got enough goals that adding another to the pile will mean less motivation than more.

As for dips and lifts, I think the first half of it is learning how to hold yourself up. That goes for the person being lifted as well. Both sides have to do work!

Oh, as a side note, most science fiction conventions* have structured group dances of this nature (either contra or Victorian). Er, at least the ones on the East Coast do.

I haven't been to conventions with that, I don't think.

Man, I'd love to do ballroom dancing elsewhere. I quit the scene here half a year ago because I had been doing it for too long and wasn't really compatible with the crowd here in my city. I hear dancing has a different attitude in other cities...

Charity viennese balls? Not really a 'scene' though..

The only problem with traveling in Africa is transport it is not cheap to move around between regions. Tanzania is awesome and if seeing animals is your goal then there is nowhere better, Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti migration is one of those things that will change your life. Zanzibar is also stunning, Indian ocean beaches are amazing. language is a slight issue because most people speak Swahili only.

If you want to see the first world in Africa then Cape town and the wine country is where it's at...it's actually a little weird because with the ferraris, models, beachfront mansions and beach culture it's almost like being in California.

Zimbabwe is kind of Africa for beginners, English speaking, decent infrastructure and amenities but there are also very rural areas out of the cities. I'll put something together to give you more info.

Haha, I think the problem is on my end... I can barely pick up kittens and babies because I'm afraid I'll hurt them! D:

There's a local Viennese ball coming up very soon. A lot of ballroom dancers usually volunteer for the performances. I suck at Viennese waltz, unfortunately :(

I just got a preliminary job offer. Got a phone call for a job I had just thrown a resume at to see if it stuck, had a phone interview, the guy really liked what I had to say, he wants me to fly out to Washington DC next week to meet him in person. Since its on the East Coast and I have to fly out there, I asked him how serious he was and he said "provided you're not some mutant in person, we just might be prepared to extend an offer". Its 35k more per year than I'm making now.

Those are the pros..

Cons are, I wasn't planning on going back east until September. I dont have the money to get out there, so I'd be separated from my family for X amount of time until I can get together enough money to get them out here. I live 10 miles from my ailing mother for whom I moved to this little podunk town for and I haven't told her yet that I was even planning on going back east, so there's going to be some heartbreak there.

My head is spinning right now.

Sleep on it. Studies show... yada yada, you know the rest. Sleep on it.

just put your hand up on her hip.

Place one foot forward and lean very slightly back as a counter-balance, if you're doing it that way. Wouldn't want the girl to fall.

For most girls who don't often do dips, one hand on the small of the back, one hand slid up to the base of the neck. Most girls are not comfortable leaning back so much unless you give them a lot of support.

this post would not make a very good song.

I'm just too lazy to root my phone. It's one of those things where if I had a specific reason for it I'd do it without hesitation, but up until now my phone has done everything I've wanted of it without rooting.

I keep thinking of rooting my phone but I worry about the warranty and updates and such. I dont want to make my phone harder to use just so I can do some cool things with it, and I bought the replacement plan so I dont want to jeopardize that.
