ICS is a drastic upgrade from Gingerbread. There are notable improvements to the following:

  • UI design and typeface
  • UI performance
  • Browser speed and tab management
  • Gmail, Calendar, Reader etc. (i.e. core Google apps)
  • Multitasking
  • Camera software and picture editing
  • Keyboard, text prediction, autocorrect
  • Voice actions, dictation speed
  • Folder management and widget resizing
  • Streamlined menus and settings
More reason to get a Galaxy Nexus.

Other phones are being upgraded with it this year though. The Sensation XE (the one I have) is scheduled to have the upgrade early this year. It just hasn't been confirmed when.

I imagine there are versions of it around the internet that have been cooked to work with various phones as well.

Someone save me, I'm drowning in bad dialogue!

Played a bit of ME2 this morning before work, I can tell I'm not going to enjoy playing this. I hate limited ammo :/ This is why you don't see me playing too many shooters...

IT'S AN RPG GODDAMMIT.

It isn't an RPG goddammit :(

You keep telling yourself that!

I remember hearing about the changes they made that people weren't impressed with, like making it more shooter-like. I couldn't imagine what they meant... now I know what they mean.

I was one of the people disappointed by it. Not initially, as I thought a more hybrid solution could work quite well. The complete lack of armour, weapons, and skills did annoy me.

The RPG battle system in ME1 wasn't perfect by any means, but there were elements of it I quite enjoyed. There was a much more tactical feel to battles in ME1 than there was in ME2. Bioware just completely stripped most of the RPG elements away in favour of a more shooter focused game.

I personally would have preferred them to improve the battle system, make it more refined, than completely strip it bare.

My issues with ME2 weren't really about the battle system, but more that they took away inventory, exploration, etc. It was too streamlined when I wanted a chance to swim.

That's the first time I've heard ME1 combat described as "tactical." To me, it was more like watching a dozen brain damaged clones dance in circles and trip over themselves repeatedly.

I too greatly prefer ME1 to 2.

Yeah. There is quite a mixed reaction to the series it seems. I can't for the life of me understand why people think ME2 is better than ME1. I don't even think ME1 is exactly a masterpiece of a game either. It is just that I preferred it to ME2.

I can't believe it won GOTY.

Yeah. I wouldn't have minded so much if the sum of all its parts added up to a much improved game. As you mentioned it, lets take inventory as an example. There were shops, just like the first game, on various planets. However, there was nothing in them apart from a few insignificant items. There was no reason for the shops to even exist.

But then that would be assuming I think the battle system was perfect. It is an RPG battle system. Action can be paused at any moment. Some enemies have weaknesses to various skills if you take the time to learn that. As you level up, extra skills become available. These you can take advantage of during combat. Also you are able to override any action party members may be in the process of doing. You can also command them to move into various positions.

I would go into every situation with all that in mind. The first thing I would do is pause the action. Take into account my enemy and choose various skills from each member, what I feel would be effective.

That seems more tactical to me than just shooting an enemy, right?

ME3 being an Origin exclusive means I likely won't touch it.

It was confirmed already

That may sway me to get it on 360. I played the first two games on 360. As my PC has been upgraded since then I was thinking about getting it on PC instead.

The only problem was with my previous saved game. I don't know how significant the difference will be between playing the game without a save and playing the game with.

Played a bit more.

Sending me off on a mission without asking first? Not cool, game! I don't appreciate being shunted from one place to another.

Also, was tempted to give my Shepard bright pink armor, but I didn't think I could stand that for more than a couple minutes at most... I already made her wear a pound of make-up which seems rather odd for a military woman.

Is Shepard straight or is she a lesbian?

I think that's the most important question to ask.

I put her with Liara in the first game, but I'm tempted to cheat with Garrus since that's who I preferred originally... But my Shepard isn't an ass, so I would feel too guilty making her do that.

Especially if there will be consequences in ME3 for being a cheater! I don't need that.

lol

You don't want your team mates to start bitching at each other. You need to keep the morale up when fighting giant humanoid skeleton creatures. Liara might just leave you there to suffer.

"Liara help me!"

"Oh, now you want me! I'm sure Garrus will come to your aid"

I have an interview lined up for a small video production company on Friday. It's not a super fancy business but it's a step up from what I'm doing now, so hopefully it goes well.

Good luck with the interview hopefully you'll end up doing something more meaningful/fun.

I have a 40oz Klean Kanteen that is honestly one of my favorite possessions.

Not sure if anyone here will be able to help, but I'm having kind of a frustrating problem with my Mac drive and time machine. I keep trying to back up to a 500GB external, and I'm being told the backup will take up 527.96GB of space. But when I go to preferences and check what's being backed up, I see my desktop (6GB), documents (26MB), and a folder of DVDs I've ripped (14GB). Which does not add up to 527.96GB.

Where is all this extra data coming from?

I have been using time machine until now with no problems for months.

Your Apps, library, documents, movies, etc? Or have you excluded all that stuff? My experience of TimeMachine is that in the configuration interface you see what you're excluding, rather than what you're backing up.

ME's inventory system was so bad though.

It was pretty bad, yeah.

So, since I decided to make my Shepard a one... alien woman, I went and watched the Garrus romance on Youtube.

It's fucking creepy. Humorous, but creepy. I'm glad I decided against that route. It was less romance but friends with benefits. Boring!

1 is better than 2, but mass effect 2 is still great.

Its not a bad game as bad games go, hell I finished it when I don't finish most other stuff... It was just not at all what I wanted from a Bioware Space "RPG". They removed almost all of the RPG elements to have it replaced by really mediocre shooting and worse story-telling. And any of the epic grandeur found in the first is replaced by bland scenery and poor design.

So

In the PC version, people found a way to exchange the male and female Shepard models

Generally this is kind of pointless

Except for the romance cutscenes

Default male Shepard has such a creepy smile.

As everyone has already noticed.

But damn!

Bioware's character models become incredibly disturbing when they're trying to be seductive.

While we're talking gaming I've been playing Xenoblade over these last few days and damn, the art direction is really something. I just got out of Sartorl Marsh (at night, holy shit) and now I'm in Makna Forest. The vistas... they're incredible. The expansiveness of the areas reminds me of FFXII.

I'm having a blast so far and for a JRPG, I'm surprised that I don't hate any of the characters. Even Shulk with his brooding "it falls on me to save the world" attitude is actually quite bearable.

He looks so vulnerable.

I remember when I went to the marsh the first time it was during the day. I thought, oh god this place is hideous I just want to get through here quickly. *turns to night* :OOOOOOO

I actually like all of the characters in the game, which was refreshing. I liked that even though Shulk was young and blonde (like so many JRPG characters) he's not stupid and doesn't rush blindly into things. I even like Riki, when I expected to totally despise him.
