there are better space missions nasa could be focusing on

that said the idea that a mars mission is some massive waste of money that could be spent on domestic programs is a red herring, we don't spend on domestic programs because we elect people who think they're evil and if we don't put that money into nasa missions it'll just go to military contractors, private prisons, and scammy charter schools anyway

Funding space exploration could bring scientific advancements that help fight against global warming.

I totally agree with this.

Mars colonization is a fantasy. If we ever have the technology to inhabit Mars we have the technology to fix Earth.

Who's saying that getting a person on Mars will solve all of our problems? No one.

However, scientific advancements made during a Mars program may in fact be applicable to solving some problems that we have here. We should be doing both, period, full stop. No Fuck Mars or whatever his message is.

Talking like a true Martian ideologue.

Yeah but it's not helping that he on the other hand cuts funding to those programs that right now tries to fight against it. Because we are way past the deadline to do stop it before it would start doing damage in terms of irregular weather and more, all nations have to go full containment mode to minimize whatever damage this is gonna do to us.

If he funds Mars' programs at the cost of preserving the Earth, fuck that red piece of dusty garbage planet. It doesn't host life. It barely contains any water. It has no atmosphere and no magnetic core to contain one. It fucking sucks.

Yeah, space exploration is a luxury that is really only in the realm of of a species that has learned their own resource management. We're at odds with our own planet. I could understand if we were on a planet that through no fault of our own was on a course of destruction or dying, but we could have a very vital planet, and still do for now.
