PS3 Core = 360 Premium + 2 years of XLive
With the PS3 core you get...
Every feature the 360 has, plus
An online service for the life of the console, not just 2 years.

Oh yeah Microtransactions, what about that bullshit.Zaptruder said:...
And they do that on the X360 anyway despite the fact MS charges you for online gameplay access.
Stop with the FUD you jackass.

So what does that say about the mass market acceptance of paying for something that deviates so greatly from, not only the past pricing expectations of consoles, but also the current competition? There's no good way to spin Sony's price unless you're dead set on getting in on Blu-Ray as fast as possible, are dead set on getting a PS3 for its games as fast as possible, and can justify the high barrier to entry for getting both in the same package.Flo_Evans said:I think part of the problem with the sticker shock in the US is that for the past 10 years our economy has been pretty strong... not so much anymore. I guess none of you have filled up your car lately?

A blu-ray drive capable of playing HD movies at 720p.
That blu-ray drive also has a higher capacity for devs to take advantage of.
A motion sensing controller and the possibilites it offers.

Similar to the PS2, except it takes all the nice features of live and gives it away for free (friends list, account management, all that jazz).
MS doesn't host the games themselves anyway, so it's not like they're doing everything they can to ensure a premium service for online play. Gold is pretty much a glorified matchmaking service; purchase of the PS3 will buy you much same service for the lifetime of the console.

Kolgar said:I'm not buying a PS3 on principle, now. If I did, I'd be condoning these prices and asking for it even worse next gen.
Then too, there's the CGI "game footage," the "Spring 2006" launch, and the newly de-rumbled WaggleShock3... Thanks, Sony, but no thanks.

Well, to be fair, PS2 was the first system to exhibit the ebay phenomenon.Gunstar77 said:Hate to tell you but that already happened when people paid $1000+ for 360's on Ebay.
