ReCore Gamescom Gameplay Trailer

Hmm looks OK,like others have noted that jump animation is just not quite right. But the game looks better since the last time it was showed briefly

The gunplay heavily relies on you switching the colors of your attacks (red, blue, yellow) so based on the enemies you will be using the d-pad throughout fights to switch colors based on the enemy to do more damage and take them down. It's also heavily reliant on the different companions that go along with these, so you'll be constantly trying to manage that, which is why when I played it auto aim made sense.

Also someone else mentioned it, but you'll want to be continuously moving most of the time due to hazards around you and the enemies fighting you, so using the dash and jumping is pretty key while trying to manage the different colored bullets and companion swaps. For example the section I played at E3 had a floor with lava under vents that would shoot up into various sections of the floor while I was trying to fight ranged enemies perched up on ledges shooting down on me, and while the ground tank units were trying to squash me. It got very hectic trying to shoot the ledged yellow enemies while dodging the lava and the red enemies at my feet. Periodically telling my companion to help me out, making sure I didn't get engulfed and squashed...it made for a fun but hectic time and I was thankful for auto aim haha.
Honestly that control scheme sounds bad. Any game where you need to move frequently but also have to often take your thumb off the stick to hit the d pad is cumbersome.

Maybe it works in the game, I don't know. But it just doesn't sound good - there's a reason we have things like weapon wheels and quick switching in games like Doom and Ratchet.

They have also done a pretty poor job of showing off the movement needed during combat. Most of the official footage released has been her standing in front of the enemy and just blasting away at them.

Was it just youtube janking out on me, or was that full of massive frame rate drops and tears?

edit: just youtube

How do you put out an official trailer where all the gameplay footage runs at a bad framerate, especially for a game that has a PC version? I mean, good on them for letting people know that their game runs poorly before they have to buy it, I suppose.

Yes they certainly have done a poor job. Anecdotal, but at E3 the line for this game was by far bigger than any other game at the MS booth, except maybe Sea of Thieves. I also saw a lot of people who were commenting about how the game surprised them in a good way. I really hope MS releases a demo alongside the game so people can try it for themselves, but I'm not holding my breathe

This trailer is way better than the E3 trailer. It's a good thing this game is $40 so more people might take a chance on it, but it's probably a $20 game for me unless the reviews are very strong.

I'm fairly certain the mega man quote was referring to megaman legends, or at least intending to. It's an open adventure game by a small chunk of retro studios, so this game has my attention.

Some observations: The controls look pretty good actually. The animations look ok too. Its the animation blending that looks atrocious, and for the life of me I can't figure out why this hasn't been addressed. Ive done platformer animation move sets using way worse tools than unity and all it would take to make those jumps look better is some tweaks to the animations and adjusting the speed of the blending. It would never look uncharted-level but it could look better that what's on display here.

Otherwise, I really look forward to this game.

The jank is still evident...was expecting some improvements in the animations in particular. Otherwise it looks like being a competent enough game. Will have to wait for reviews on this one before deciding how excited I am about it. Equal chance of this being mediocre / excellent.

Totally looks like my kind of game, but HOLY SHIT that is a terribly edited trailer. No pacing at all, feels like an amateur put that together. I did like what I saw though.

the promotion for this game was atrocious I mean it releases next month and MS barely did any big promos yet.

Hope the game delivers, so far I will buy it because the price just seems right

This looks absolutely amazing.
I cant I cant I cant wait.

Some color and some different gameplay from the other fall titles is so welcomed.

I just hope it doesnt get buried by the AAA shooters all coming out this fall.
Not direct competition but people might just forget it even came out.

MS Please market the shit outta this game.

I really have no idea what to make of this game, like Scalebound this could turn out to be great or could be a total mess.

The lower price point is a smart move though, a decent review or two might tempt me to pull the trigger.

LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Good luck. :)

Yeah, as I said previously it's like when a first-person game is showing the player model from a third-person perspective.

Seriously looks rough. Why on earth did they decide to use Unity to make this game? Animation is off. Performance looks rough. Some of the materials and shaders look just bad.

Keji Inafune is still the producer right? I wonder how he feels knowing that this game looks marginally better than MN9. Im not saying this looked amazing but its something.

Great art style for sure, gameplay looks pretty mediocre at best, though. The arc of jumps, the way dashing appears to work, and the kind of Megaman Legends-esque look to how locking on and shooting works all don't resonate well with me. Animation being extremely rough on top of that isn't helping the presentation and impression I'm getting. Not to mention the apparent slowdown in some of the footage that, given how many other games have turned out in recent times that don't explicitly allay fears about performance through demonstration, probably very indicative of the actual performance of the game.

The E3 trailer was a lot of fun but I kind of saw the same problems I'm seeing now. I'm gonna pass and really hope the reviews prove me wrong. Shame to see such a cool set of character designs seemingly go to waste on a mediocre product.

Don't think this will be amazing but it looks like it will at least be a good time. Though that choppy framerate better not be in the final release.

Platforming looks fun, and visually it's very compelling, but the combat just looks dull, and the numbers popping out of enemies kind of distracts and detracts from the immersion and visuals.

I'm surprised it's out just next month though. Will definitely be waiting on reviews (and hopefully later steam release), but I'm kind of expecting it to be the next XO/W10 exclusive to bomb, regardless of quality.

Do you have to stand still when you shoot...? Besides that, game looks enough like something I haven't had in a long time to convince me to look after it.

No, a lot of the gameplay shown is Joule strafing around enemies and shooting.

Simple, but I loved Kirby Air Ride so, I'm down.

The idea behind this game is interesting, but the 3rd person shooter gameplay looks very unexciting and all the platforming/exploration really stiff.

I will wait a few months, to see if it comes to steam. Game looks really good(well graphics are ok-nice, but the reason is unity)! I hope it will become successfull.

The jank is strong. I've seen smoother student projects. :(

you've seen projects from students that were smoother than the work of people who've been in the industry for 15+ years? mmm, ok.

animations are fine. game looks amazing. been hype for it since it was first revealed.

I don't think I'm watching the same trailers as others. Game looks generic and janky. This is easily some of that missing B tier, and the price kinda proves it.

Looks like they smoothed out the charge shot animation. Before the ball just clunking formed. Now it's a gradual build up.

I'm guiding sort of a shmup vibe from it. Game looks fun. But man the running and jumping animation needs work

Continues to look super Metroid Primey with circular platform, the jump, lock-on and different energy type.

I like how the spider tracks are identical to the spider ball tracks in Metroid Prime but this time a robot spider actually crawls across them instead of Samus sticking to them.

Will eventually get. I feel like that Best Buy Preorder hat bonus will be available separately for cheap.
