Hello darkness, my old Benz.
Hello darkness, my old Benz.
Who is this Benzie guy?
How exactly does a producer help fixing the camera?
How exactly does a producer help fixing the camera?
Keep in mind, this is all from Benzie's legal team as they're trying to win a settlement for hundreds of millions of dollars.
Alternate title for GTA5?
Kinda explains most of GTA.
Hello darkness, my old Benz.
he didnt look too happy at the bafta awards in 2014 when rockstar got the fellowship, he also walks away as soon as houser's speech is done while the rest of them hug it out on stage

I'm wondering how exactly they had trouble with a fundamental element of the game that's basically the same as GTA.How exactly does a producer help fixing the camera?
To be fair, San Diego really screwed the pooch on RDR and it seems like the North guys actually knew what the fuck they were doing. The discrepancy seems entirely justified to me lol.

I asked this earlier but I'm still not clear how an employee ever got entitled to this kinda money in the first place.
Like, he didn't own the IP or anything did he? I'm mean that even surpasses global corporation CEO bonus money.
Yeah, if you read the outline in the court brief from Benzie's lawyers it doesn't make sense that he'd be entitled to that kind of money. It's all to push for a settlement.
The details coming out from this case are making me realise exactly why the GTA games turn out the way they do.
I've never ever enjoyed the clunky nature of the way they played and they seemed like a bit of a mess to me. Now I know why. Leslie had to keep being called in to clean up train wrecks so the final product basically ended up being one mans effort too clean up a mess in a short a time as possible.
Makes sense. Now that Leslie is gone, I'll definitely continue to not buy any future GTA games now that he won't be there to make it at least playable.
The unauthorized "biography" about GTA and Rockstar was an awesome read. It said that if R* North employees came back from lunch carrying doggy bags from a restaurant Sam Houser didn't like and he happened to spot them, he'd make them throw them in the trash.
On the other hand he might be the reason the GTA games play so clunkily. Neither Max Payne 3 or RDR were headed by him and they are the best playing Rockstar games.
Goddamn.
That's hilarious. That's what you get for trying to cheat someone out of their money.

Probably explains the SP DLC situation with GTA V.
Apparently he had the same contract as the Housers, so he really was the #3 on the team and very likely entitled to this kind of money.Yeah, if you read the outline in the court brief from Benzie's lawyers it doesn't make sense that he'd be entitled to that kind of money. dead"I need the Benz"
Also the mess that Heists were for GTA Online... Both run up to release with it's year+ delay then the lackluster polish (2-4 required at all times, annoying lives where a single person dying fails the entire heist)
On a project that big in scale? Easily. Without proper project management tasks will not get completed in proper time/order, might not be finished to completion, or potentially not get looked at period. Hundreds of workers running around with no proper direction... Not any one issue may be super obvious when that is happening. Maybe it was a known issue, but no one was tasked with fixing it and they all had a whole pile of other important work to finish? One person with no direction thinks another person with no direction is taking care of it? Maybe someone was working on it and due to poor management they were told to start working on another task causing it to fall by the wayside? It was talked about, but it ended there due to an unorganized workload? Could be anything. Project management is kind of important.
The Housers may be stupidly ambitious & meticulous, but they're not stupid. If Benzies was even half as crucial as this email makes him out to be, there's no way they'd let him go.
Clearly the email was hyperbole, or they were in a slump and things changed, or they found someone/something to replace Benzies, etc.
The guy did ask for a ridiculously large amount of money. I'd be interested to know the scope of his contributions.
When you fuck up a game so bad you can only speak in the form of Kingdom Hearts dialogue.
I never had any contact with them, but from those that did, let's just say the words they used were not kind. The Houser's are described by many as insane egomaniacs. This actually falls in line with that.
