No kidding, a game called The Red, The Dead, and the Ugly, where you hop characters GTA V style, would be pretty fucking fun.
The Red: A Native American protagonist trying to live right even though the entire country is trying to marginalize him
The Dead: A former slave with a MASSIVE bounty on his head after killing his master and running.
The Ugly: A Jonah Hex-esque disfigured drifter with a mysterious past.
Why aren't you making video games? That sounds AMAZING!
Dead, or rather half-dead of starvation and dehydration after running and hiding for days. A Red, Native American stands above the almost dead body and drags it behind some shade cast from a rock. Red grabs his waterskin, opens Dead's mouth and drops a bit in. He understands the oppression Dead must've endured and feels some kind of kinship to the unconscious man who doesn't even know he's been saved.
Dead wakes up, dazed, confused, and ultimately, hungry and thirsty. Red passes Dead some dried meat and his waterskin, Dead doesn't know what to think of the meat. He's heard terrible things about the Red man, about the supposed savagery, about the cannibalism, but he seems to know he's been saved by this man and puts a bit of trust into him. He grabs the meat and the waterskin, takes a bite of the first thing he's eaten in days and washes it down, sparingly.
The two men sit in a long silence, but it's interrupted by a rumbling from across the hills, 2 Bounty Hunters, but the heat makes it look like it could be anywhere from 2 to 4 men. Red, the new owner of 2 revolvers previously owned by 2 men who weren't too kind to his people gives Dead one of the revolvers. There's only 2 shots left in the both of them and neither really knows how to use a gun. The two are easily pinned down after they miss both their shots (even if you make both shots since the bullet flies off with inaccuracy) but they hear more rumbling, another Bounty Hunter, but this one rides alone. The Ugly.
Ugly's not terribly polite as he puts a bullet between the eyes of the other bounty hunters, but he's got a few morals and he's got even fewer reasons to waste a bullet on a Red, so he let's Red be but ties up Dead and takes off with his bounty.
Red, formerly horseless is now the owner of the two, skinny little things the two dead men rode in on. He grabs the guns, the ammo, and the hats of the dead men and doesn't even look the direction Ugly went off to. He thinks to himself, a man who shoots like that is sure to gun him down something quick if he gives the man a reason to. But something in his gut tells him that Ugly's trip to Blackwater to turn in his bounty won't be such a smooth ride and by some unlucky sign under the stars, the three will meet again, and his gut is right most of the time...
