Specifying 2017 makes it seem like this is some archaic throwback to a bygone era where we always used to use our cell phones for connectivity. If anything this is a brand new innovation we have never seen before. I dont think we shoukd tear it apart without letting it run for a few months.
So you either chat with your friends or you listen to the game's audio, no way to do both correct? This actually makes a lot of sense since this is a portable console, without a 4G connection. If you're on the go without wifi, you can make your own hotspot then do voice chat and stuff on the phone too.
That said, they should really have an integrated solution too. I've never actually chatted on a console though (mostly play on PC), so I have no expectations really. I imagine ppl used to PS/XBOX would be really confused by this.
Maybe in 2020 they can work out a way of integrating online in to the console itself, without any need for a smartphone. Can you imagine! That'd be pretty impressive.Specifying 2017 makes it seem like this is some archaic throwback to a bygone era where we always used to use our cell phones for connectivity. They HAVE to backtrack on this and build the app functionality IN the console.
How do you chat and hear the game at the same time?
Who asked for this?
This app better be the tits.
You had voice chat and matchmaking built into your console's OS? That's like a baby's toy!
Is this real life?
God, just shut the fuck up until you can show it off, I can't take this stupidity
Guess Nintendo didn't see the earbud headset that comes with PS4Because if you're playing this on the go, you probably don't want to have to pack a specialized headset, whereas you almost certainly have your phone and perhaps a pair of expensive earbuds.
That's the thinking, anyway.
Makes perfect sense for handheld, can play anywhere you have a phone signal.
At home this is some bullshit.
I think that might be why they did this. To protect the children and make parents feel like their special snowflake is safe because they can't talk to strangers without a phone.
So the game's audio would output through the phone?Voice chat
Use their phone to use as a voice chat while the kid play ? It's not a temporary set up. This is to be used the entire multilayer session. Makes no sense for parent to give up a smart phone for that purpose. Nor do I want to mix my phone device mixed with gaming, unless it's to supplement but not as a primary means to do setup and voice chat.they can ask their parents
Oh wait, you have to pay for the app too right? Wow.
After all, this is the company that designed the Wii U to be very quiet so housewives wouldn't be bothered. What I'm thinking too
Yeah they have GOT to clarify if this is a solution in handheld mode or not.
I don't understand how a company has become so divorced from its user base.
